Dear friends and colleagues, Like I said I was clearing my desk to make room for the new Italian bambino. Thus I took the opportunity to finish all my ongoing projects. After the wurger bird in 1/35, here’s the finished bust of my heroine Amelia Earhart. It’s a 1/10 resin bust edited by Life Miniatures of Korea. I painted it in Vallejo acrylics over a Gunze lacquer base. I’ve painted quite a few busts in a previous life all in oils. This time I put the oils aside and entered the new world of acrylics. I was using Vallejo acrylics like everyone in our hobby but never try to paint figures or miniatures with them. So this is what they call a ‘cross-over’ in music: jazz musicians playing bluegrass and vice-versa… Anyway, here’s the result of a few weeks of brush-wielding. Hope you like it. A.M.U.R. Reaver will offer new PE Set next week. There is set of four patterns for different effects, from fine regular grains to irregular stains and splashes. I "played" them yesterday using 1/24 P-47 wing for metallic paints effect test. They are very thin and flexible but very robust, because they are made of 0.05 mm stainless steel and will serve all the lifetime.

I've been struggling with how to do a clean job of masking off wheel hubs on a 1:144 airliner. These are much smaller than the smallest circle I can make with a circle-cutting compass, and so small that cutting inside a circle template with a scalpel isn't practical. So I can't make masking tape masks. How to do it? I found on line these tiny circle cutters meant for polymer clay (Sculpey) crafting, and figured for $5, why not. I rolled some Blu-Tack out thin and punched out some circles.

A F-16c Block 42 I started last summer but i finely got back to but i am going to make all my markings from mask the stencils will be painted on using the eduards PE set that they have for the Tamiya F-16 . Painting was done using Vallejo paint .

Folks - did a search on the site here but didn't find the answer. A web search also turned up an amazing number of mixes and comments about what are the 'right' and 'wrong' colours... SOOO - my friends, what are the 'proper' colors for WWII Roundels for a Spitfire (I am assuming the colours were standardized, but just in case...) Mk IXc? I'm building 2 1/72 Spits and have decals, but am trying to practice using masks hence my question. I see lots of comments about decals having the wrong colours so rather than just trying to mix a match for the decals I thought I'd ping this knowledgeable community. Oh and also for the fin flashes. Assuming the same blue and red but better safe than sorry. Can't wait to see where this discussion goes! Chris

I don't know whether this has been addressed here before. Last night, while browsing through the respective Structural Repair Manuals, I noticed another (minor) glitch in the kit's painting and marking guide. Whether it's deemed significant or not, is to each modeller's discretion, of course. Already addressed glitches: F-86D Assembly Guide, Step 16, parts G27/28, Medium Green FS 34102 suggested. F-86K Assembly Guide, Step 15, parts G27/28, Medium Green FS 34102 suggested. Note: The inner faces of forward and main gear wheel and strut doors were unpainted. Use "SILVER" instead. F-86K, marking option E: 51-2961 was an F-86L (built as an F-86D-20-NA), not a Kilo. The KH painting guide suggests "SUPER SILVER" for the following structures: Rudder tip, vertical tail tip assemply antenna cover and the port wingtip's intermediate section. In fact, theses structure were non-metallic (Laminated Glass Fabric), primed and painted: Light/medium grey, wing tip intermediate section light/medium grey; on individual aircraft even black topcoat. Now don't all get too excited... As I have been out of the loop for a very long time now with regard to painting and finishing models, I guessed that I needed a 'test mule' to practise on? I found an incomplete Revell 1/32 F-16A kit which had been binned following an air cadet attempting to unsuccessfully assemble it many years ago (with, by the look of it, a full bottle of Cyanoacrolate). I filed all of the super glue off the joints then quickly (a couple of evenings work) threw the thing together with normal tube cement. As I intend to make some HAF subjects, I thought that this would be a useful test piece to practice the Agean ghost scheme upon when the time comes (most likely before I complete my HAF F-4E AUP). I still need a good Viper kit and I would love to make a Block 50/52 aircraft, but this is out of my reach for now (I do have the old Hasegawa 1/32 FSD F-16A kit, and maybe another (complete) Revell F-16A 'Tiger meet' kit, so I guess that I shall just have to modify them if needs be?).
