  1. G'day all, So I'm now the proud owner of an Up mini 3D printer, and I was led to believe that I could design something in google sketchup (the free one) and send it straight to the printer and life would be good. Not so much it appears. The template on sketchup is designed for the makerbot 2, so the print area is different and I can't work out how to change it. I've started looking around at other CAD design programs that will export a .stl file, unlike sketch up which requires another conversion program. I was wondering if anyone else out there designs 3D parts and what program they use? Is there any that aren't hellishly expensive? I know there's cloud based ones but I want to steer clear of them. I'm looking for a stand alone program. Any thoughts? Cheers, Craig Edit: I have both a mac and pc, but would prefer the mac as it's newer and faster. I believe that may count Rhino out?
