  19. Airscale is relatively new company which concentrates on Cockpit enhancements for model Aircraft of 1:48 to 1:24 scale. I will cover mainly 1/32 products here, with some 1/24 sets at the end. These sets are unbelievably fine and carry so much detail you'll think you're looking at the full size cockpit parts!! First off, we have a lovely set of Cockpit Placard Decals part no AS32 PLA. These are designed to be used with all Allied aircraft cockpits. Each set is supplied in a plastic bag and has a card insert measuring 95mm x 135mm. Pack front:- Instructions:- The actual Decal sheet, measuring 84mm x 47mm. These generic Placards will add that final touch to even the best detailed Cockpits out there, containing enough decals to cover more than just one kit. A set of Luftwaffe Placards is also available. Next up, another set of Decals from Airscale. This time we have a beautiful set of Instrument dial decals for USAAF aircraft in 1/32 scale, code AS32 USA. These Dials can be used with the kits panel, or used with Airscale's PE Bezels to build a real show stopping panel. Here we have the front cover. The instructions.. As you can see, each instrument is described along with application instructions. The sheet itself, measuring 60mm x 38mm. There is also a sheet of clear acetate included. Just look at the detail close up... amazing!! There are also instrument decals available from Airscale for RAF, Luftwaffe and USN in 1:48 to 1:24 scale. These decals will add a great amount of interest to any kit, especially single seat fighters displayed with their canopy open. Thanks to Peter from Airscale for these beautiful sets. I will be using some of them on my B-17 build, combined with Eduard PE panels.
  20. Following on from my Airscale Decal review, I thought you might like to see some of their amazing PE detail parts and Bezels. Airscale manufacture PE cockpit parts for model aircraft from 1/48 up to 1/24 scale. Here I will review two 1/32 sets, details and Bezels... First we have this gorgeous set of detail parts for ALL aircraft of WW2,Code PE32 DET. This set contains switches, knobs, levers, radio faces and circuit breakers for RAF, USAAF and Luftwaffe aircraft. Here we have the front of the packaging... Instructions.. described as pilots notes, explaining what each and every component is.. Here we have the stunning PE fret, measuring 105mm x 73mm. The detail is simply unbelievable, the crispest PE work I have ever seen!! Like I said... CRISP!! Just look at those radio faces. Those left hand faces are only 7mm wide!! Next up we have a set of Bezels for all 1/32 Aircraft. This set is coded as PE32 BEZ, but is also available in 1/48 and 1/24 scale. Once again we have parts to make our own very accurate 3D IP with crisper detail than is available using any other method of construction. When used with the Cockpit dial decals made by Airscale for all WW2 Aircraft, you are able to build a showstopping IP. This is the front cover.. The instructions, giving all the information you need to identify which bezels are here, you just need to decide where to locate them.. We can see how crisp the detail of each bezel is on this fret measuring 100mm x 70mm. Close up... VERY NICE!! Remember, both of these sets cover all aircraft of WW2, and each has enough parts to enhance more than one kit, so you'll be able to use all the parts to get your monies worth. Thanks to Peter of Airscale for these sets. http://www.airscale.co.uk/index.php
  21. Airscale manufacture cockpit detail parts for 1/48 to 1/24 scale aircraft models. The company manufactures generic Placards, Bezels and dials for IP's, but also make one off dedicated upgrades for some 1/24 scale kits. these can be seen here, at Airscale's site http://www.airscale.co.uk/panels.php Here we will cover the Airscale Panel Decals for the 1/24 Airfix Mosquito code AS24 MOSA. We all know the kit comes with a clever "first" for Airfix, where they pre fit the decal to the back of the clear instrument glazing panel. Often, the Decal is out of register with the plastic, (On my example it was a long way out. A quick email to Airfix was swiftly followed with a replacement), and the bezel part is very thick, which means the decal is way back behind the panel, so when you look down on, (across), the IP the gauges disappear. Peter at Airscale simply wasn't happy with this, so he made this set available to all of us... Thanks Peter. Here is the front of the set, showing the real IP and a small picture of what you get on the sheet. Here we have a very comprehensive set of instructions, taking you step by step through the fitting process, using the supplied decals and acetate sheet. This is the actual sheet itself, measuring 55mm x 35mm. As can be seen, we also get decals for the auxiliary panel and radio faces. Next up we have the 1/24 Allied Placards set for all US and UK Aircraft of WW2 code AS24 PLA. This set is very similar to the 1/32 set reviewed earlier, and will enhance the cockpit of your 1/24 kits. The front cover of the packaging, showing the sheet itself and describing what the set is for.. Here we have the instructions, giving directions on how to fit the decals and some information about what the placards were used for. All you need to do is research where they go in your particular model. Now we move onto the sheet itself, measuring 104mm x 60mm. the printing is perfectly in register and very crisp.. You know I said crisp, well get these two pics... There are enough decals on the sheet to build more than one kit, so these sets from Airscale work out to be very reasonable financially, when compared to some other dedicated sets that only do one model. Thanks very much to Peter from Airscale for these decals, you've done a great job Pete!! http://www.airscale.co.uk/index.php
