  1. Guys, I'm building the new Revell Mustang (like everyone 🤓) and am enjoying it so far until... ...a few days ago I lost the after-deck part to the carpet monster. I've sent Revell a request for a replacement but I don't count too much on it. So I decided to replicate it in plasticard. Looks like it's not too complicated to do. But then I need to understand what I'm trying to replicate, details like the part in silver and the engraved semi-circle ... Can you, Mustang experts inform me so that I could go on with my build? Thank you all Quang
  2. A little Luftwaffe '46 for today, the very nice Revell 1/72 Focke Wulf Flitzer. Believe it or not this aircraft actually made it to the wooden mock up stage, but never progressed further. I've equipped mine with a pair of 21cm mortar tubes from a 262 and two X-4 wire guided air to air missiles as a bomber destroyer. The little tractor is from Academy and the base was made from scrap plastic and the base of an old trophy.
  3. Copper State decals applied, time to finish this puppy and move on to the Revell Mustang and a 1/72 Bradley (don't ask...). The build thread is here, just the typical Revell build - dealing with lots of flash, and that funky wing strut thing Revell does on this kit. For me this is just a fun build, love the colorful SPADs and for a WWI exhibit I wanted to add an American hero. (And just noticed I forgot the tail plane rigging!! Damn photos!). Vallejo Model Air, with a final white wash by Flory including dragging down the sides of the fuselage (along with a bit of brown wash). Thanks for following along! Now to rig that tailplane.... 4. Hello! This is Revell's re-issue of their Heinkel HE219, with new parts to make it as the earlier A-0. Built virtually out of the box, except for some Eduard etched seat belts. I used Xtracolor enamels for the camouflage. Straight forward kit, no real pitfalls, but it needs a lot of nose weight to keep it off it's tail! Thanks for looking, Angelo
  5. I'm quite a big fan of all new revell offerings in our scale so I have grab the new Mustang immediately after it has appeared (and for 20 EUR ) There are several airframes of D-5 I like but I would like to partially finish it in NMF so "Hurry Home Honey" is my choice. I will use all new Eduard AM for it (brassin sets and PE as well). Have the G-factor legs so maybe I will use it for this build. And of course the HGW seatbelts. New PE set from Eduard for the interior has the instruments glazing already so looking forward to put it together. I have already started and you need to spend some time with cleaning the parts but no real bummer. More in progress pics soon. thanks for looking jan
  6. Hello all, here is a Revell 1/32 Spitfire I have been building to break the slow going Ju-87 build I am on. It is painted with Humbrol colours and with only seat belts added to the standard kit. It builds ok with a few fit and mould issues, but nothing to serious to worry about. Hope you all like it, all comments are welcome :-)
  7. Revells into darkness Enterpise with Tirydium models lighting kit, Just for a change
  8. As i get ready to start on my Revell build, and with all of the build threads going on here, I thought it would be a good idea to try and capture the collective experience and thoughts of everyone in one place regarding suggested aftermarket bits for the new Revell P-51D. Not looking for commentary on if a suggested AM part is useful or not, but if you have actually used the AM bit, a comment on ease of implementation, gotcha's to look out for, the usual useful advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Chris
  9. This set gives the modeler a one piece resin cowl that improves the fidelity of the engraved details. Details that unfortunately are lost in the injection molding operation of kit production, and appear soft or faded out. No need to rescribe or loose detail during building. Easy one cut per fuselage half, along a natural panel line. Has locators to align perfectly. https://www.ebay.com/itm/302649852463?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649

New project started today. Revell issue of the Hasegawa 'D' kit. A few wee extras from Quickboost & Eduard to come. Progress pics & updates as-and-when. Please feel free to make any criticism or ask any questions along the way. Stay tuned. Ian.
  11. In 1947, civil war looked imminent in Paraguay. President Higinio Morinigo sensed rebellion in the air and thus decided to bolster his air arm, as this consisted mostly of WW2 unarmed training aircraft. Open Civil War broke out on March 7th 1947, by this time a dozen surplus P-38J's with mercenary pilots and ground crew recruited in the US were on their way. Most of the former Paraguayan air force sided with the Communist rebels, but the hastily repainted P-38's served pro government forces well, shooting down most of the rebellions aircraft, while carrying out bombing and strafing runs on insurgent positions. By August 20th the rebellion had been violently put down. This kit is the old 1970's Revell mold. It's not a great model, I started it as just something to tinker on between projects and it had been sitting 95% complete for the last month. I did plan on doing a Cuban machine, but I decided against using a nice decal sheet on what is a pretty poor model. Thus, I invented this little story. The P-38 did not see action in the Paraguayan Civil War.
  12. Hi! I decided to finish my old project. It is a Spitfire Mk Vc conversion based on old Hasegawa Vb and new Revell Mk II kits. I added new wing bubbles and ammo panels, new shape of plate for Hasegawa windscreen. From Japanese kit i used Vokes Filter too. Master gun barrels and Montex mask were needed.
  13. Hi all, I recently finished another rush build for Tamiya Model Magazine International. This time it was the new tool Fw 190A-8/R11 in 1/32. I built the F-8 2 or 3 years ago and loved it. This has the same fun factor. I also fitted it with numerous Eduard PE and resin sets. Paint is MRP. Look out for this one in the December issue of TMMI, out on November 16th.
  14. Just a couple of odds and ends to do but the main build is done. tail light, wing lights, pitot tube and aerial and she's done. Again be at Telford
  15. Hi everybody. I've a very interesting pics of a He-111p that's been downed. In the most part the wings are off and the engines sitting by the side. I really fancy having a go at creating the scene as it wont be a quarter of the size of the complete plane and I think would make an interesting dio. So my longwinded way of getting to my question is are there any am engines I could use? Research seems to point to Daimler Benz DB601A-1 but I cant find these. CMK do a DM601A and still available and Eduard did also (for the 109E's)but now discontinued. Are these suitable or are there any others I've overlooked? I've got all the cmk am with fuel cells, undercarriage and cockpit as well as Eduard etch sets and HGW belts and of course the Revell 1/32 He 11P!
  16. Evening all The latest off the bench is Revell's new 1/32nd Spitfire MkIXc, which as I'm sure you know follows their release from a few years back of a Spitfire MkII and thus the breakdown of the kits is almost identical. This was a very pleasurable build and it went together relatively trouble free; the only filling needed was as the wing root fairings where the moulding was slightly short - I've seen this on many other builds and know it wasn't just my kit which has this issue. The simple solution is to add a small plastic card shim to each fairing and smooth it in with Milliput and a wet finger, and the problem is solved in under 10 minutes. At £25 I thought it fantastic value for money and will definitely be purchasing a few more. Decals for this one came from Xtradecal as the code-letters were off colour-wise on the Revell sheet. Paints were from the Xtracolour enamel range and it was finished with a coat of Humrol Matt varnish. Supermarine Spitfire McIXc, 132 Squadron, RAF Detling, November 1943: And alongside the MkIIa which I completed earlier in the year: Let's hope Revell keep giving us 1/32nd Spitfires at such reasonable prices - and roll on that P-51D! Tom
  17. Hi guys, this is my recently finished Me 262B-1. It was a lot of fun to put this together and paint it. You can find WIP thread here AM used: Euard Brassin wheels Eduard PE Interior and Exterior + PE seatbelts Master Model Fug 218 antennas Thanks for looking jan
  18. The shades of evening gradually darken and with it the ever present threat from the Lancasters and Halifaxes of Bomber Command and their equally feared escort of Mosquitoes. This was the time for some to prepare for work, Oblt Kurt Gabler flew with JG300, he was one of the "Wilde Sau" freelancing night fighters attempting to find and intercept the bomber stream. Gabler's Bf109G6 "Red 8" had its camouflage sanded back to bare metal in order to optimise its speed in an attempt to catch the Mosquitoes: This aircraft is the subject for my latest build, virtually OOB except for AlleyCat props/spinner and control surfaces. It was a very enjoyable build with the exception of the undercarriage which is very flimsy, one leg snapping when a small piece of card fell on the starboard wing tip. Max
  19. Well since Kev has put me to work again looking after this group build, I really should contribute. I picked this kit up earlier in the year for 25 bucks at a swap meet on a whim because the price was pretty good. I was thinking of doing an RAAF MK 1C Beaufighter, I don't think there is much difference between the C and the F. It will be pretty much straight from the box, I don't tend to do a lot in the way of detailing for older models as you often end up spending more on aftermarket than the model initially cost. It looks decent enough in the box, so hopefully it doesn't present too many build issues.
  20. Hi there! With the Texan coming to an end I had no idea what to build next So I opened just the big blue box that has been looking over my shoulder during modelling for some years. Look, there is an Uhu inside The well known Revell kit with some goodies It has to be a quick build, so I kept the AM parts to the bare minimum. Precut masks. The mandatory correction parts for the radiator outlet. Also resin seats to overcome the issues of the kit seats. Added PE for the wheel wells because the wheel wells are large, wide open and very empty. The bird will sit on a high shelf when finished... SAC UC? We shall see. Revell has the build broken into some independent subassemblies. While still painting the cockpit interior you may build up the wings, engine nacelles and wheel wells. Two each. Also rudders and elevators. Just beware that some parts have to be glued around some kind of hinges so check this before This will become the A-2 from the kit, 1./NJG-1, with the black undersides. Regards - dutik
  21. I picked up this long out of production single-seat 1/32nd MiG-29A cheap recently, and fancied doing a Polish version so also ordered a set of Decals from Techmod. I built this more or less out of the box, but did close the upper air intakes with plastic card, made some FOD guards for the exhausts and intakes, and added a seat belt set from Eduard, but kept the cockpit closed as it's fairly basic for this scale. Paints were from Xtracolour with varnish coming from Humbrol. I thought about coating it in gloss, as the Polish MiG-29s are very shiny and clean, but decided to do more of a satin coat for a better scale effect. The Revell kit is actually a MiG-29A version, but after doing a little research the differences between that and the G version very mainly internal so I could get away with it without too many problems. MiG-29G, Polish Air Force, 41st Tactical Fighter Squadron, Baltic Air Policing, 2012. With the new Trumpeter kit hitting the shelves, no doubt a few more of these will be sold off - hopefully I can snap another one up at some point. Tom
  22. Revells new night Schwalbe. Unfortunately it is not a "shake and bake" kit. Panels near the radiooperator seat requires work to fit into cockpit sides. All plastic parts needs a little bit of cleaning before gluing, not everything fits nice. Instrument panel should be lower to not interfere with front part of canopy. Clear parts must be polished because of nasty bubbles on the surface. Fortunately kit is a very nice (some say best) representation of Me-262. Additions: - Eduard interior and seatbelts. Mask for canopy. - Master FuG 218 Radar - Montex masks for Trumpeter kit (i don't recommend, size of numbers is wrong) I added some cables here and there and riveted surface. Pitot tube is made form syringe needles. I used Tamiya paints, Gunze Gun Chrome and C08 Silver, Alclad on droptanks, MIG rigging for antenna wire, oil paints and Tamiya weathering master set.
  23. Kevin's ace review of the Revell 'single float' Ar196B has prompted me to post a couple of images of yet another project I have running at the moment - almost ready for paint: Odd choice of subject, as Kev mentions in his review, but quite charismatic... This is being built straight from the box. Iain
  24. Hey fellow modellers, Revell's G10 built with Barracudacast small wheel bulge resin inserts, resin spinner, resin prop blades and resin main wheels and resin exhausts. I riveted the airframe and made some belts from lead foil. I also used one of Roy's decal sheets for the Erla G10. Paints are a mix of Tamiya and Gunze weathered with oils and some enamels made into washes. Upper and lower and fuselage crosses painted with home made masks. Thanks for looking. Cheers Bevan
  25. Hello folks, Last year I was the lucky winner of a model kit in the LSP raffle. Iain kindly donated this Revell kit of the ASK 21 glider which fits in perfectly with this GB. https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=Revell+ASK21+glider&qpvt=Revell+ASK21+glider&qpvt=Revell+ASK21+glider&qpvt=Revell+ASK21+glider&FORM=IGRE Civilian aircraft are not my usual fare so this is an ideal opportunity to try something new. For now this is a space setter post but I'll be back with more as soon as I get the box open. Cheers.
