  1. Hi everyone, well as many of you know I started a model in the summer with every intention of just enjoying modelling for myself but what always happens happened - I started thinking of products! It is the nature of the beast I guess but I really do want to crack on with the Revell bf 109 G-10 Erla and I have three new products at hand to help me along with the fantastic Barracuda items.I really need to set aside days that are for me, not AIMS otherwise I will never get anything built other than un-painted display models. I enjoyed painting the Aires cockpit - the fit caused problems and I still have large gaps in the canopy sill to work on but I was able to get the fuselage closed up fairly quickly. I wish I had not as when I decided I wanted a 'hatches and latches' set I now have lots of holes in the fuselage with no pre-installed interior detail so I will have to do the best I can. The upper cowl, whilst not perfectly addressing the width of the engine cowl does however trick the eye into thinking the cowl is much wider than it was, it isn't but the flatness of the resin part really helps together with the gun openings being further apart. Sadly after production was well underway I was informed that on Erla machines the gun opening is not straight cut at the back like on the U4 so I have rounded off mine a little and also made the cut outs for the weapons. Next up is post filling some of the interior areas and then onto laying in the PE hatch rims, all good fun!
  2. Hey fellow modellers, Revell's G10 built with Barracudacast small wheel bulge resin inserts, resin spinner, resin prop blades and resin main wheels and resin exhausts. I riveted the airframe and made some belts from lead foil. I also used one of Roy's decal sheets for the Erla G10. Paints are a mix of Tamiya and Gunze weathered with oils and some enamels made into washes. Upper and lower and fuselage crosses painted with home made masks. Thanks for looking. Cheers Bevan
  3. Jerry and I wanted to publicly thank Tomas Poruba, one of the world's leading authorities on the Erla Messerschmitts, for his help with research during the development of our forthcoming Erla EagleCals. Without his willingness to share his knowledge with us, we could not have produced such a complete, accurate set of decals and instructions...thank you Tomas! We are anxiously awaiting for the plane to land from Cartograf, delivering our Erla decals along with our Spitfire Mk I and Spitfire Mk II EagleCals...soon, very, very soon.... See our Erlas here: JG 300 -http://www.eagle-editions.com/eaglecals/32/erlas-bf-109-g-10s/eaglecals-155-erla-bf-109-g-10-jg-300-detail.html JG 301, and KG(J) 6 Here:http://www.eagle-editions.com/eaglecals/32/erlas-bf-109-g-10s/eaglecals-156-erla-bf-109-g-10-jg-301-and-kg-j-6-detail.html Both available in 1/32nd scale. 5. I picked up Revell's G-10 a couple of weeks ago and wanted to try some colours on it. I was very impressed by the cockpit of this kit, looks really great. I'm building it completely out of the box. I chose for one of the markings provided by Revell, with that difference that I make it 'Green 7' instead of 'Yellow 7' and that a quarter of the spinner is white. The colours are green-brown, the same as those that I saw on colour photo of a late war belly-landed 109. Knowing that colours of late war 109's can be a hot topic, please be kind... I'm far from finished, but it is a fun kit to build and paint, and I wanted to share: As you can so, so far it's still 'White 7'; 'Green 7' has a white outline. In the next step, I will paint the green one on top of the white one. Next will be the balkenkreuz on fuselage and wings. The few decals are stenceling and the wnr. The colour of the spinner runs on the nose of the fuselage; it makes the fuselage look a bit shorter, but the photos of this aircraft show it very clearly. I have to do more exhaust stains, that's for the final stage of the build. The landing gear is a little complex to build, but it turns out good. It broke 3 times during construction, but that's just because I'm clumsy... I experimented with a new airbrush - I still used my old badger 150 - and I have to say: this thing is fantastic! The finess of it is impressive, I experimented with pre- and post-shading, different shades of green, grey and brown. With the large areas painted, I'll start painting the details pretty soon. I hope I don't mess it up now. I like the moveable flaps of the kit. Gives it a dynamic look. The Wnr. is placed on the tail and the rudder, so you have to cut the decal. Still needs some drybrushing, wash and chipping. I hope you like her so far! Nic
