  1. Finally managed to take photos for the gallery, I know photos taken quickly but you can see something on them. I invite you to view the gallery of the Northrop P-61 A "Black Widow" model. - "Lady Gen", Florennes, Belgium, december 1944.
  2. After my long absence I'm back with another workshop thread, this time I have a Northrop P-61A "Black Widow" from GWH and in 1:48 scale. The model straight out of the box I think, because I don't plan any additions to it. Unless something goes wrong. The model is familiar so I won't be taking photos of all the frames and will limit myself to just these photos. There are two camouflage paints, an all black Burma aircraft and a European theatre of operations grey/olive with invasion stripes and this is what I will be building. So much for the introduction.
  3. Here are some of the other pictures from the Open House. If anyone is interested in a weathered P-61 or P-38, let me know, I have a lot more. Enjoy! Most worn Catalina I have ever seen. Will have to find the backstory to this aircraft. Well worn P-38 - I have a lot more pictures of this bird as well. Non-warbird - didn't see action in WWII. Was mothballed, then pulled back into service by NOAA for hurricane testing (needing props for that work, not jets) and this is the high altitude version of the P-61. The weathering is rather interesting - all over, except the radome in the nose. Yes, it is as big as it looks! Cheers, folks! Chris
  4. Hello! Here are some photos of a model i built for Airfix Model World. It is published in this month Magazine (March 2014). It is the Great Wall Hobbies kit, with the adition of True details engine and magneto covers, engine cowls and props. Painted with Tamiya acrilics. Here are some photos. If you get curious, the detailed proces is here on my blog: http://josepiresmodelismo.blogspot.pt/ Hope you like it! 5. Hi all, I noticed on facebook that Mid-Atlantic Air Museum has started a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds which will help them complete the restoration of their P-61 into *flying* condition. This would be the only flying example of the plane, and is one of only 4 surviving airframes. I have no affiliation to the museum but I've done my part to donate and am sure I'm not alone in wanting to see a P-61 flying after so many years. If you want to check out the Kickstarter page and what you can expect to receive for the dollars you commit, the link is https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1473616645/the-p-61-black-widow-restoration-project. If you really want to pony up some big bucks, you can even go up for a flight in the plane (Oh man, if only I had that much money to burn!) For those of you not familiar with Kickstarter, this is one of the main websites for crowdfunding. Credit cards are only charged if a project reaches the funding goal, In other words, MAAM does not see a penny of the committed funds for the project, and you do not pay a penny, if they don't hit their $35,000 goal. Happy flying Mike
