  1. Started a new project while I'm waiting on new exhausts for Lou IV. Found this kit in my closet and I am already loving it as 1. It only has a few pieces 2. It is a cool looking airplane 3. It can be done in VERY bright colors 4. No rigging! You can really go to town on the engine - yet 95% of it is completely hidden so focusing on the top end. The obligatory box photo. I was really torn between this plane, on the cover, and a green and purple one. Going with this one. But this one was tempting... There is so much detail in the engine, pipes and exhaust and all, but it is all covered up by the cowling. Too bad! BUT the carbs do not match the diagram at all. They are flat with injection holes, rather than dome-shaped. I wonder if there was a problem with the plastic during the molding process? I looked over and over in case the carbs were molded separately. Nope. There is also a fair amount of flash that needs to be trimmed away: I seem to remember in my previous (few) Roden builds there was some flash issues with those kits as well. Here are the results of my five color paint session: White Primer, Silver, Wood, Gun Metal, Copper. All Vallejo Model Air colors. I tend to paint over the primer in the same paint session when I can. And a bit later painted the Red nose so I didn't have to mask around that engine, but also in the same session found a light gray for the underwing color (sorry, no pictures of that just yet). Vallejo Red #003, Vallejo White primer which I tend not to lay down too heavy. Lighting is off a bit, the primer is actually a dull white So this should be a fairly quick build. Chris
