dmthamade got a reaction from Martinnfb in 1/32 Polish F-16D Block 52+ (from Academy Sufa)
Hello Matt!! Great progress on the F-16. I've built two of the Academy F-16 kits, One as a Barak the other as a Sufa. I didn't have to add any eight to the nose, even with the addition of resin parts behind the main gear points. If it will make you feel better add some weight, but I've never added weight. One of my builds sits with its wings uneven because i glued the rear intake tubes off from the front. The main well is glued to the rear tubes, so it is crooked. BE SURE THE WELL IS STRAIGHT. I glued the top wing surfaces to the fuselage before assembling the top and bottom halves of the fuselage. I did this so i could work the wing to fuselage joint to be as tight as possible and to ensure the wings were level. Academy does provide positive alignment slots and tabs, and i also used the Tamiya F-16 as reference. I made a template from the Tamiya upper fuselage to make sure the tabs and slots aligned the wings and they did.

I have thrown away a few builds and my Shelf of Doom is the trash can. If a build is turning into a chore instead of being fun, the kit gets trashed; it rarely happens but if I reach the point where irritation starts to outweigh fun I don't have a problem trashing a kit.

Have you ever just got tired of working on a kit and just trashed it? Or cleared out the shelf of doom with one big swoop??
I'm contemplating just cleaning out everything and starting fresh.. The kits I'm thinking about doing away with aren't that expensive, so the dollar loss is minimal.
Opinions???

Life's too short.
If you can afford it and it's not harming others do what makes you happy

That's very much like me, hate clutter, Have a twin engine kit that has been pulled down from the shelf so many times and recently close to the trash can,
But I am determined to finish it even if it looks like crapolla in the end, that's not to say some havent hit the garbage, they have.

Yes, many times. Builds that go bad, if i don't return to them in a short time(varies) they get binned. Clutter as a rule disturbs me, so i keep to a bare minimum if at all.

So undercarriage shin together with tailwheel corrected, but still almost all of it will be out of sight.

dmthamade reacted to Neo in What 1/32 Trumpeter F-14?
i have the 2 trumpeter kits, i have not built them yet but I went in this direction because of the finish and the fit of the kit. (I got them used packed with am). after building 2 Hasegawa tomcats I just wanted something easier to build vs accuracy
The intake is the big downside, I'm planning on putting covers on them to camouflage it a bit since Zacto is no longer selling them.
Maybe reskit will do a set ?
Also Luckymodels has them in stock for a very decent price point !

Looks as though we need an accurate , state of the art big scale Tomcat. They're all over the place in 48th, how's about us?

Which Trumpeter Turkey you need depends on many things. Timeframe, mission are big ones. Do you want the colorful flamboyant schemes, tactical grey schemes, VX-4 schemes...CAP mission, CAS, recon...loaded with air to air missiles, LGBs... Trumpeter/Tamiya/Revell all need work and/or aftermarket, how accurate and how much work is your decision. I've done all three, all were work intensive, all required aftermarket. Whichever way you go, will be a lot of work, but the finished birds always impress.

Don’t overlook the old Revell kit. Not too bad of a finished product with a little work.

Happy New years everyone!! Slow year, just two builds. Better than last year, had one aircraft done. These were don for group builds, first is a Marine phantom.
Second is a Piper Super Cub

Rib fractures hurt like heck!! Pretty much anything you do causes pain. Had rib fractures at work while pulling heads and cam on a Ram hemi. Had to put it back together with fractured ribs. Worse part was torquing the heads down....takes time to heal, but you'll get there, three weeks for me and all was good. If on dominant side, will hurt more. Finger ok?

Always liked this aircraft ever since i built the 1/72Airfix kit in the late 70s. Look forward to build, especially the paint scheme.
