  1. Added some smaller stuff to my collection, but still LSP Made by @upor This is a really small aircraft, especially considering the range and the heavy gun armament (4x23mm!). BTW, we have a review of this kit online here at LSP, showing all the beautiful parts inside the box. @BiggTim is bringing us back the AMS line of resin AM sets. Ordered and recieved an early F-5 seat as well as this one: Mig-17 cockpit. Wel cast, nothing bent, no damages during s&h overseas. If you are looking for a Mig-17 cockpit too: The "early" set is your plain vanilla Mig-17 and Mig-17F set. The "late" set features the radar screen at the upper right of the dashboard, uset for the radar equipped "big lip" Mig-17P and -PF (gun armament) and -PM (guided AA missle armament) variants. You have to add here your own large rubber hood over the radar screen. Cockpit looks very nice. Much better than the kit parts, also better than only using Eduards PE set. Regards - dutik
  2. Then I suggest to buy a real one, ready for driving, and have fun! Regards - dutik
  3. The screw nuts have arrived: Time to move on with the build. The bang seat is also on the way from @BiggTim Regards - dutik
  4. Great choice Looking forward to build and paint one. Always liked the late war brown-violet and green(s) much more than the gray/green Luftwaffe livery. Add that yellowish latewar RLM 76 and the unpainted areas under the wings - Kotares K-4 will become a really nice canvas for painting your very own model without any hassles regarding airframe shapes and details. You know about this if you ever dipped your toe into a Hasegawa kit or Revells own 109 line... A correct K-4 right out of the box. Yikes I still have a Revell/Hasegawa K-4 in the stash, but always earmarked for an Avia S-199 conversion. I am very glad to get the choice to build and paint a state-of-the-art K-4 in near future. Regards - dutik
  5. Nice one! May I ask for a second engine for more reliability...? Gotha Go-60 Regards - dutik
  6. So your launches were much more succesful than the Iranian Space program (yes, they did it ). The Iranians crashed 12 out of 12 launches, then dropped the whole space program forever Anousheh Ansari, the only Iranian astronaut ever, is a different story Regards - dutik
  7. Thank you very much! BiggTim still has the molds and will cast me a proper seat. Sometimes is modelling that easy Regards - dutik
  8. While building up the cockpit (nice subassembly, well engeneered except the too shallow tub) I discovered a problem: The Ethiopian F-5Es used the early Northrop bang seat. Well visible in photos of rthe birds. This is the one with the small/slim headrest. The kit provides the late version with the large headrest. AMS made one years ago, but AMS is gone by the wind. No longer available. At least I did not find one except for "out of stock" items. Is there one made by another manufacturer? I guess this boils down to modifying the kits seat. There are a some online photos. Seat and backrest are well covered. Well enough. Doable. Front views of the headrest too. I am looking for plain sideviews of the headrest as well as a shot straight from above at the headrest to understand the shape/geometry/crossection of that part. Can someone help me here? Regards - dutik
  9. Hi theres! Building an early F-5E (Kitty Hawk) I am looking for an early F-5 Northrop bang seat. This is the one with the small/slim headrest. AMS made one years ago, but AMS is gone by the wind. No longer available. At least I did not find one except for "out of stock" items. Is there one made by another manufacturer? So this boils down to modifying the kits seat. There are a some online photos. Seat and backrest are well covered. Well enough. Doable. Front views of the headrest too. 10. Modelling keeps me away from spending my money for drinks and harlots. The best wife of all appreciates this a lot. Win-win Regards - dutik
  11. That's why I love russian stuff of Cold War era. Much less fuss with tiny aerodynamical details. The cast on fences aremostly ok. Just add a static discharger at the wingtips and things are done... Your Scooter comes together nicely Regards - dutik
  12. The construction of the landing gear well must be put on hold for now. I've run out of nuts. So 30 pieces are not enough. More screw nuts (100 pieces...) have been ordered. But delivery will only take place in 10 days because the sellers are still on vacation. That's the modellers life. I have now started with the cockpit. As we know, the tub is 4mm too shallow. I've cut off the bottom along the sidewalls (so that has still the full width). Because I didn't expect the cut to bee straight and level I added two different sizes of strip styrene atop each other at the outsise to act as a template. Then I filled the insides on to of the tub walls with more strip styrene as required and sanded them down to the hight of the outer "template". Easy, done: Now waiting for some applied putty to dry. Also sanded the consoles flat to add the PE or 3D cockpit interior parts. Regards - dutik
  13. Here in Germany prices are more or less the same as when KH went out of business. Regards - dutik
  14. Some 0,5mm wire (smaller or larger diameter where required) (brass here, but lead wire is also useful), a few pieces of styrene, Albion Alloys brass tube with a suitable inner diameter, cut at a cutting drawer for tubes (made by JLC, iirc), and the secret sauce: Modeller brass screw nuts of different wrench sizes. There are different vendors offering brass screw nuts the sizes - M1, M0,8, that came in handy fot this job. You may also find screws M0,6, wich are useful to add lines to engines, like ignition harness or fuel lines. A brass nut is in the 3 o'clock position: And a lot of patience, patience, patience. An optivisor might be helpful too Regards - dutik
  15. Went a bit overboard detailing the front wheel well. There are coming 3 pipes out of the wall close to the rim of the whell well. Close enough to add them. Now I had 6 pipes peeping out of the walls dangling free into the well. This had to be fixed, of course. And so on, so on and more of the same... Guess you know that story Regards - dutik
  16. Wow, you guys at Aerocraft are really, really fast. Placed my order at noon and it has been shipped just after 2 hours Great job! Regards - dutik
  17. A nice collection and a fistful of very large LSPs to be built Regards - dutik
  18. Beautiful built and painted! Very nice one! Regards - dutik
  19. If nothing solves the issue there is just one last solution: Skip the "moving" option, align it in the straight position and glue everything in place Good luck, and Merry Xmas to you! Regards - dutik
  20. From a sale too: Well, I've got the "Ki-61 exhaust set" some years ago. But if you watch close, these are exhaust stubs for a radial engine, not an inline. And the Ki-61, well, has an inline engine. Odd mispacking. Some research showed that these were the exhausts for a Ki-84. After all these years I now added the aligned model kit as well as some other AM stuff. Odd reason to buy a kit, I know More nice stuff: And something more colorful. Much more colorful: Most of the stuff inside is not aircraft related, but it is always interesting to watch the work of much better modellers. Enjoy! - dutik
  21. Brass angles should teach the whole thing to keep upright... BTW, striking paint job Would have been a shame to put this in the bin. Wish you good luck with your efforts! Regards - dutik
  22. Got the nozzles painted. I've brushpainted Migs Jet exhaust burnt metal, Vallejo Air silver, Vallejo Natural steel (still unbeatable for smaller steel parts, but not suitable for large areas, it is grainy), Vallejo Neutral grey for the soot inside and added some brown and black washes as required. Most of this will become invisible when built up, but it should look like a jet exhaust. Regards - dutik
