The replacement canopies arrived from Tamiya USA free of charge, and while the molding irregularity was still present on the rear section, I forged ahead. I used the Montex mask set to protect the canopy inner and outer surfaces. This meant I applied a total of 44 masks, tedious work but worth it!
Right now the canopy parts are just placed in position; I will be gluing them as one of the last steps. In the meantime, I have to add the gunsight, pilot's handholds and footrests, and the underwing counterweights. Not long now!

Paul,
Your wish is my command! First the instructions link: https://www.kotare-models.com/products/k32601-kotare-132-spitfire-mkia-brian-lane just click on the "instructions" tab at the top of the page. The TopNotch links:
Type A camo: https://topnotchmasks.com/shop/camo-masks/spitfire-mk-i-v-pattern-a/
Type B camo: https://topnotchmasks.com/shop/camo-masks/spitfire-mk-i-v-pattern-b/
Markings: https://topnotchmasks.com/shop/insignia/spitfire-mk-ia-brian-lane-qv-k/
I know all this because I have all of these, having the same idea as you with the Mid kit before the Brian Lane version was released.

I'm looking forward to this! If you want to paint the markings instead of using decals, and/or want a camo template, TopNotch Masks makes them, just let me know if you want the links. Also, you probably have already seen this but the Brian Lane kit instructions stipulate Type A camo with a Type B top cowling-hope this helps!

Thank you for the preview!
Markings are primarily for Fuchida’s aircraft piloted by Lt. Mitsuo Matsuzaki and for the leader of the 1st Torpedo Attack Unit, first attack wave piloted by Lt. Cdr. Shigeharu Murata. However, it looks like you have the option to build other aircraft as well from the Akagi or Kaga, and possibly from the Soryu.

If it isn’t perfect, we have Bo Monroe/AircraftinPixels to make it right.

-the Kotare Spitfire also 80% complete

-the Border Kate/Akagi which is enroute
-a Ukrainian 1/48 SU-25
-a Ukrainian 1/48 SU-24
-a 1/16 M4A3E8 Sherman which is 30% complete
-...and of course my beloved Sugar's Blues Lancaster build which stares at me every day!

An update I forgot to add:
I modified the direction finder apparatus behind the pilot per the actual unit; the kit part just has one vertical section connecting to the round part vs. the two smaller pieces you see here. This is an easy fix but it does show up.
