  1. Kevin, I bet it looks great! The biggest trick I've encountered is folding the parts after insuring a good cut from the fret. Those nubs can be pesky! Cheers, Tom
  2. Kevin, Just superglue (low and med-viscosity) applied with a toothpick. I also use Future floor polish as an adhesive for some low-stress attachments. Cheers, Tom
  3. I've ordered David Parker's B-17G Big Bird Modelling Guide, and was delighted to see he chose Little Miss Mischief as his subject. From the pics I've seen he went with the pumpkin tail turret, though the only photo I've seen of her after her repair had the earlier turret: http://fineartofdecals.com/goodies/b-17g-little-miss-mischief/ Hopefully he has some info about this! Cheers, Tom
  4. Karim, Vibrant and flawless as usual! I love every photo. Also, your Sony camera is amazing. Zeiss lens, 1†sensor, yet fits in a pocket! I have the RX10 and love it. Cheers, Tom
  5. Thomas, it would be great to see your work on this or any other ship in this scale. I agree about the Walrus, and I look fordward to painting so I can get her ready to launch! Cheers, tom
  6. Maxim, thank you! I had seen this but didn't have much info about it. Cheers, Tom
  7. Smitty, Indeed, but carefully selected to avoid those needed for conversions. For example, port fuselage halves without the starboard for sale, no sprues containing nose or tail turret pieces, etc.. Cheers, Tom
  8. Thanks very much to Juggernut's advice. If I was able to get these individual sprues I would be home free. However, unless HK Models sells the sprues it looks like I will need to modify the tail turret of the G kit, fill the wing tip vents, and unstagger the waist windows. Fortunately the clear parts of the tail turret appear to be flat planes so I might be able to pull this off without having to buy both kits! Cheers, Tom
  9. Thank you! This is great info. Cheers, Tom
  10. Iain, No worries! Would the appropriate sprues be available for sale from HK? They and the starboard E/F fuselage half aren't on E-Bay. Thanks, Tom
  11. Iain, That is certainly encouraging. I've seen how to unstagger the waist windows, but how do you backdate the tail turret? Thanks,, Tom
  12. Iain, I do understand, and I respect your commitment! This is my first 1/200 ship after building quite a few in 1/350, and I'm not tempted to go back. Although, truth be told, I really wish Trumpeter would scale up their 1/350 HMS Abercrombie or HMS Roberts, or the Richelieu... Cheers, Tom
  13. Iain, Thank you! It would be great to see you work your magic on one of these ships. Cheers, Tom
  14. Now that HK Models has produced the B-17 E,F, and late G, is there any indication that they will combine sprues to make an early G? I would like to model Little Miss Mischief without buying the two existing kits! Thanks, Tom
  15. You are very kind! Not much skill needed here, just the necessity to cut and bend small brass. It is amazing to me how small some of the parts are for such a big scale. I'd be better off sticking to 1/700 scale! Cheers, Tom
  16. Thanks! Slow going, but I'm looking forward to finishing the mainmast, which will be the last of the big superstructure assemblies. Cheers, Tom
  17. You might notice that I haven't yet fished the maintopmast, so it is a little out of alignment! Cheers, Tom
  18. A little bit of an update: the four main searchlights, and most of the mainmast. Each part consists of approximately a googleplex of brass parts, intense scrutiny, numerous glances at the Pontos instructions, adding glue, removing extra glue, realizing the alignment is off, detaching, cleaning, reapplying. But it is fun! I've painted the searchlights to avoid masking later. Cheers, Tom
  19. Very crisp and vibrant work! Really nce start to this build. Cheers, Tom
  20. Beautiful work! I love this aircraft. Cheers, Tom
  21. Quang, Meticulous and inventive work! I like the solution of using the computer image. Cheers, Tom
  22. Richard, It looks like a good start! Have you considered adding a dark wash around some of the details? This would make them stand out more, especially once you seal up the fuselage. Cheers, Tom
