Infinity Models 1/32 Helldiver on sale at Sprue Brothers
Royboy replied to ironman1945's topic in LSP Discussion
Are you a man or a mouse........ -
Isn't that W/C 'Daffy' Danders wingman and sidekick to Biggles. I'd know him from anywhere. ....he he.

Special Hobby 1/32 Manshu Ki-79 'Japanese Trainer'
Royboy replied to Kagemusha's topic in LSP Discussion
I like SH's choices as they do stuff nobody else would even blink at let alone do a 1/32 scale kit of it. I wish they'd do some more twins though. An Avro Anson would be nice in 1/32 and it had a few variants too. Maybe that's asking a bit much though. -
I thought your comment was quite funny but please take my reply in the context of the original criticisms of Airfix on here. I was only trying to point out that issues like 'soft' plastic mentioned by others would have to be addressed, because if they didn't some people simply wouldn't buy their product. QC would always have to be on their radar if they were to enhance their sales more broadly surely. Hence the SALES comment, do it right or no sales. Obvious I know, but I sometimes think we forget the principle of continual improvement rules every time. Airfix know that as well, and are improving their products all the time just like anyone else out there and I'm sure they'll continue to do that in the future. Hope that explains my thoughts on this a bit better.

No, we'll speculate on the next one now.

Wingnut Wings.

Airfix are only interested in one thing.......SALES. They'll sell boatloads of them of course, and at a price level that will suit most buyers in this scale. I'll be getting a couple of them, and yes maybe they'll even fix the plastic quality issue as well. I'm even hoping for some later marks of it in the future too. Happy days.

The Hurricane could outturn a Me109 and after a few circles on the merry go round you'd be on the others tail and your opponent would be in real trouble. The Hurricane was a much better stable gun platform with the thicker wing and would always stay on it's course as you shot. The Hurricane also was quicker to repair in the field too, a bit of canvas doped over the bullet holes in the fuselage area and you were off to the races again. Finally, the airframe was a LOT stronger and you could twist and turn at very high G relative to the Spitfire without pulling it's wings off. If you pulled too hard on the Spitty the wing would break at bay 14 if you wasn't careful enough. The two BOB vets I spoke too years ago just loved their Hurri's and both said the aircraft never got the recognition it truly deserved which they regretted.

Can the HK Meteor be backdated to a wartime version?
Royboy replied to Citadelgrad's topic in LSP Discussion
I tried to convince the owner of HK models on more than one occasion to do the Mk 8 version at least, but he's just not interested in it right now. He's really a WWII buff and has a very keen interest in British and Allied aircraft of that era so will always lean towards those first. Maybe one day, just don't hold your breath just yet. -
I've got two pre-ordered as well. I do hope they produce the 'Kate' to go with it. From what I could see there was quite a few petitioners on their website for it too. In the meantime we will have to eagerly await this one for 2022.
-
Just imagine the reaction if they did a Vought Corsair series to go with the F-6 Hellcat. I think they should consider doing the rest of the Spitfire marks as well btw.

Kit number 1015, look's like we have a few more delights in this scale to come then. Roll on 2022.

Wingnut Wings Lancaster to be released by Border Model
Royboy replied to LSP_Kevin's topic in LSP Discussion
It seems to me that it could be their price point that's affecting their LSP sales rather than the scale itself. When I look at some of the online discounter prices and some of the others, the price variations are very noticeable indeed. The difference is as much as 10 - 20 percent and on big ticket items that's a lot of money off and then if you include free delivery with that too it's not surprising that retailers who want the full RSP would suffer some loss of sales. If the scale wasn't selling then surely the manufacturers wouldn't produce the quantity of products that it does. Every picture tells a story as the saying goes, I suggest that our scale is in very rude health indeed considering it's smaller niche within the overall market place. Happy New Year to all of my LSP comrades and keep on buying those new kits. -
1/32 P-39 Aircobra, best kit in the market?
Royboy replied to Antonio Argudo's topic in LSP Discussion
I guess you could call it a modellers kit, who wants a shake and bake anyway...boring. -
So many great subjects are just begging to be done in 1/24 scale. I'd really like a P-38 series from them too.
-
Look's great Pete, when are they up for grabs old bean. Thanks.
-
I tell people it's 3D art, and that's exactly how it should be judged now. Visitors at shows pay good money to see them, think about that when you speak about the art of modelling because that's what it is ......right.
-
Your the winner though as you get something nicely tangible to show for your efforts, all the others ever get are broken legs and noses.
-
It would seem to me that this team has it's eyes very firmly on both 'markets'. Maybe mix them up as to manufacturing perhaps one 'esoteric' to one 'mass' appeal subject so that one supports the other in sales terms. I think any of those you've mentioned stand a good chance of appealing to them over time. A nice series of Harriers would be nice to start with.
-
Perhaps we're not considering the 'collector' market enough in terms of possible sales here. 500 kits worldwide is very small and I suggest there are enough 'collectors' out there to make anything viable within reason. I think we all know only a small proportion of most of their production will ever get completed. We see it in the railways modelling world as well as the metal model car market too, the important thing is that they sell ALL of them regardless...right.
-
Well their first release sold out so I would have thought that would be a struggle to sell. The Phantom I is arguably known a lot better than that, or even the Stiletto, so I think they'll be on fairly safe ground in comparison. Personally, I'm up for one when they're available.
-
Hopefully they'll work their way up to the Grumman Panther/Cougar too as well now the FMP kits are gone.
-
Still faithfully waiting but mine is at least on it's way now. I wonder how many will be finished in the 'fields and meadows' scheme.

When interrogated at Telford on presenting the -5 Hellcat variant the then production manager announced that the -3 was not on their agenda. Now times change and I suppose there's always a chance of it happening with new people in charge. The policy then was new subjects and not variants. I think commercially it's always worth wringing out the entire value of a subject from your initial designs but of course I'm not the one in charge of the loot to do it. I'd like to echo the thoughts on here of them producing a 1/24 Lockheed Lightning as a possible contender. If not Airfix then maybe Trumpeter will shove it up a scale, despite what's been said about their quality I'd still prefer Airfix to do it one day. I think it's a British subjects turn next and I'd go with either a Hawker Sea Fury or a late mark Spitty including a nice FR47 Seafire. It's all the dreaming that make's us just as happy as doing the modelling.....right.
