  1. I’ll second the MRP system. I used it on the bottom and front end of this build.
  2. I was averaging about 8-9 a year of mixed scales and genre after retirement up until this year. This year will be a lower number. I’m about a week’s work away from completing #3 for the year. The wife has had a few medical issues since late January that has required either me chauffeuring her around town to Dr’s appointments or tending to her needs. Cancer is some real crap that just flat out changes your lives. And now that she’s getting better she’s loading me down with spring projects outside that keeps me away from the bench. Typical yard work, she found a play set for the grand kids I had to go disassemble, bring home and set up, car service, pulling the boat out of the lake tomorrow and doing the 300 hour service on the motor, spring cleaning the boat (tritoon) and the son wants to prep the wave runner. And as soon as that’s done, I have about three days of pressure washing that needs to be done. I’m going on strike as soon as the pressure washing is completed. I want better working conditions.
  3. Well….its about time! I wonder if that means the slow boat is on the way? Anxiously awaiting to order my copy!
  4. You should drunk post more often. What could go wrong?
  5. Oh no! Someone’s getting older! Cheers buddy!
  6. I will add that I have made the decision to quit duplicates of kits I already have until I build what I want to duplicate that’s in the stash. I’ve passed up some great deals I’ve seen posted lately. I’m not getting any younger.
  7. 12 Phantoms still in the stash. 5 Tamiya’s and 7 Revell’s. Already built 4 Tamiya’s. 6 or 7 F-16’s. 2-Tamiya’s. Rest are Academy and one of those XL kits. Built 9 already Pairs: PT-17 T-6 Texan (built one) A-7D/E built the E F-14’s. Built both already. T-28 B/D & C Tamiya Spitfires A-10 F8F-1 Bearcat F-105G/D. Already built one D. Next will be a B Thunderbird TMB/TBF Avenger. Building one as a 3W B-17F/G B-25J/H F-18’s.-3 A/E/F 1/48 C-130’s - 3
  8. Yea, difference might be from the individual artists rendition of what they saw. Here’s a pic I took when I had them out.
  9. And that’s why I buy now, build later!
  10. Price when it came out? I swear I remember paying just over $225, but maybe I’m in denial.
  11. Thierry, I will say that I have highly enjoyed reading your kit correction write ups over the years and you have not disappointed! I use your articles as a guidance for some of my builds and pick and choose the glaring issues you point out. Thanks for all your great work and keep them coming. They are highly appreciated!
  12. Thanks! No, this one is a Tamiya. When you get to the decal stage, that top yellow scallop will be much easier if you cut it up into more sections than the two parts it comes as. I lost my religion with that one.
  13. Any update on this project? I did one earlier this year and used Tamiya TS-15 spray can blue.
  14. Nope. I’m with you. It’s all about just having fun for me. Now if you’re building for competition at model shows, that’s a different story. I’ve had kit decals go bad after a long build. Just went generic. I’ve built kits others call unbuildable because of the shape of the nose or the tail fin not 100% accurate. I still had fun. It’s in my display case and it still looks like what it supposed to be to my eye. Edit: I must add, if it is a blaring mistake and an aftermarket correction is available, I’ll use it just because I can. I like using AM intakes on my Phantom builds. I bought the Zacto corrections for the A-7 Corsair kits I have. I did get caught up in buying correction parts from Paul Fisher when I picked up the 1:72 EC-121 Warning Star. I compared the kit parts to the AM and didn’t see much difference.
  15. BTW, I have that Avenger conversion too. The Fat Face has a wider and more blunt profile at the front. The Avengers redome is a little more narrow overall. I honestly think it can be done with a little reshaping at the back and front with some filler in the right places.
  16. Sorry man, I struck out.
  17. Not sure what all I kept after the build years ago, but I’ll take a look when I get home. You gonna scratch build the big belly?
  18. Never had the desire for those. I do remember as a kid my dad bringing us home one of the factory resin display models of the C-141. Of course me being around 6 yo at the time I promptly destroyed it. I think that’s what got me building models. I do remember my older brother collecting the factory displays.
  19. Bumping this thread back up to see if anyone knows anything about an updated release date? December, then February and then April. It’s April.
  20. Well dang it! Looks like you might be sending me another package here soon! I’ve been fence sitting on something like this for a while.
  21. Yes, cancer sucks. Very much. My wife was diagnosed with glandular breast cancer last week. We’re going through all the appointment visits with her surgeon, plastics, 2nd opinions on plastics, etc. All the markers are in place, Stage 2. She’s going to be on hormone blockers for the rest of her life since this form of cancer is hormone driven. I honestly believe she’s fearing this more than the cancer. Thankfully all of our children are grown unlike the Princess that still has small children to try and get an understanding on what is going on with Mum.
  22. She’s definitely a keeper. But she loses her mind at the idea of another kit. She knows hoarding runs in the family. AM, paint and supplies are wide open though.
  23. Budget? LOL! I freely spend my wife’s money. It’s all hers. I do jump on AM for kits I have in the stash (over 200) because I’ve seen the AM industry here today, gone tomorrow. Don’t hesitate to grab the AM you think you might need. It’s almost like a commodity. Ex: I picked up all three Connie kits years ago, G Factor gear and a hand full of Fisher correction parts. I could sell one on the Fisher parts for more than all invested if I changed my mind about building them.
