  1. Hi Terry...when I logged in this morning the first picture I saw was of your Cutlass build...made my day! Paul
  2. The dishwashing soap prevents the sandpaper from loading up with particles, it's an old painters trick, like rubbing a bit of chalk on a file so metal particles won't fill it up and scratch your work up. It's very useful when rubbing down any finish and it keeps things squeaky clean! Paul
  3. Many thanks! I so rarely actually get anything built and painted anymore it's a treat just to have something to post here....hazard of the job I guess. As for the paint...just the usual gentle sanding out with wet and dry before priming, then the micro-mesh to polish the primer out to 4000, it's pointless to go any further than that, the Tamiya spray cans work great if just a bit warm, which was no problem since it is over 100 here for days on end. I used the micro-mesh and a bit of dish washing soap to polish out the first coat of blue, went through in a few spots but the second coat covered very well and then I chickened out and called it good...like I say, I don't get to paint much anymore and it would probably been better to decant the paint and airbrush but I knew I'd stall out if I didn't just do it. Very excited to hear the replica has gotten it's C of A ...things are going to get interesting !
  4. Just a couple shots of my (finally!) finished build of the new Bugatti 100P in 1/24. Tamiya TS-15 blue from the rattle can over Tamiya light gray primer, micro-meshed out a bit before two coats of the blue, no clear coat. A word of caution about the instrument decals, the clear film makes them a bit too big to just drop into the panel, I applied them to .005" plastic card and punched them out, then popped them into their respective bezels. You could just as easily punch them right out of the decal paper. Now if someone will be brave and do it in French camouflage......
  5. Outstanding build of a tough kit....love the airplane, wish I could do it in 1/32. Encore! Paul
  6. Hi guys.. Just to clarify things: I have every intention of doing the Meteor F3 conversion and the others mentioned, my comments about staying away from " big things " refer mostly to the big jet kits I have done over the last 10-12 years. The conversions take less time and money to develop and I can get more of them out in the time it would take me to do a full kit and I sell many more of them.As Jennings said, I do this for a living so must go with the times. I am also delving into detail sets, kits and conversions in other scales as the opportunity arises, the recent Bugatti is a case in point, the model was commissioned by a client and then became a kit...there are more in the pipeline , but we have not decided on the next one. Having a kit's development costs underwritten makes it possible for me to take the risk and do things that would otherwise not be likely in today's marketplace. Too many new kits inundating a diminishing market of buyers. Oh...and for those concerned, if I can , I hope to finish the Firefly V I've started in 1/32, just have to make more time. Thanks, Paul
  7. I have often thought it would be fun to model some of these paper planes as resin kits but I wonder how many of us would really take time away from 190's and 109's to add them to the collection. Hmmnn. Paul
  8. Looks great to me, Kev, in fact it made my Friday! I will have to show it to Susy, she loves the little Ryans. Cheers! Paul
  9. Well..sounds to me like Harold and Derek have the F-4B project well in hand...I think I will stick to the A-37, ha ha ha. Paul
  10. Yes...I am indeed listening! I have often thought that a conversion to do an F-4B would be nice, but I am not at all expert on the Phantom so in order to do it right I will need much help from those of you who have invested in researching this subject. If you guys want to knock heads and maybe write up a laundry list for what's needed I would be very grateful for the help. I have a feeling it would be a bigger project than I know.
  11. You bet...no worries.Model has to cure for a day or two before we can pack it.
  12. Anybody up for a Special Edition of the Twogar kit with our lovely Zuni pods instead of drop tanks? We can skip the original decal sheet for Eli's new one or not... Just a thought...
  13. Outstanding...it will be interesting to dig out the kit and get back to it, I have to decide on a particular air frame and see about paint. I remember doing up some decent wheels for it too but will have to dig to find them. Press on regardless! Paul
  14. Ooohh..yes please, going to need me a set of those....might even get me to finish building the thing, I bought the ,kit the day it first came out some decades ago and spent hours fixing things only to run hard aground on the awful wasteland of a cockpit. Carry on my friend... Paul
  15. Glad to hear the excitement...these really are beautiful kits, and unlike some recent 1/32 offerings, they don't take up much space! More soon... Paul
  16. Hello gents, We will be bringing back the AirShow Models line in 1/32 very shortly, The owner of the line has sent the masters and remaining decals and p/e down here and we are looking into molds and a limited run of the kits this spring. The Pitts, and the Eagle will be first out. Best, Paul Fisher
  17. Oh, dear...i so wanted to bring this out as a kit myself but i was too chicken it would not sell...can't wait to see what you do with it! Might even have to buy one! Will follow with great interest ! Paul
  18. Two in one week! I am over the moon...a beautiful build, and so nice to see .Every now and then Suzy and i wonder out loud what happens to all these kits when they leave here, it's sure nice to see some of them getting built. Outstanding model building, thanks for posting! Paul Fisher
  19. Another glorious build, Terry...just showed this to Suzy and she was amazed, she always gets excited to see one of our kits done up proud.... Can't thank you enough, for posting this!Makes me want to build another one too! Paul
  20. Good morning gents... Okee-Dokee...I will dig out the Venom stuff, my friend Brian Fawcett actually began the thing, then sent it along to me, and then John Adams of Aeroclub was kind enough to send me his own drawings so I guess I should be a good boy and get back on it. No worried on the F-5F, it's in here too, but I really don't know about doing a Vampire ...somewhere there's a fellow with a really good looking set of masters laying about and as soon as I get a years work invested the thing it will show up and I'm screwed. After the last big jet kit I can't take that kind of chance any more. I will have a look for the Venom stuff today...can't go over the mountain to Reno so I'm stuck here anyway! Paul
  21. Interesting...I have a conversion in 1/32 halfway done, put it away thinking no one would be that interested...could i be wrong? Also...there was s fabulous Vampire in 1/32 on show a few years ago at the NATS..I think it was from a Canadian maker...wonder what ever happened to it?I wanted very much to do the Vampire/Venom family but it seemed a good kit was almost ready for release so i left it. The plot thickens! Paul
  22. Here's my various resin up-grades flying in close formation, the old Heller Constellation was a very good reminder of how far plastic kits have come in 30 odd years, but with some old-school elbow grease it comes out all right. Engines and props, radomes, flaps, tip-tanks , nose section and wheels are all my own resin bits , the rest of the kit was block sanded into submission and re-scribed with an old triangular file and hit with Tamiya light gray primer from the rattle can, then polished out with fine sanding sticks. Paint is Floquil Old Silver cut with lacquer thinner and sprayed fairly thin. I'm too chicken to learn Alclad yet.The "Lockheed gray" is model Master Canadian Voodoo gray with a few drops of chromate green to tint it to match color photos.Masking took far longer than painting, as usual for a scheme like this. Hope you like it, probably the first kit from the stash I've actually finished in 15 years!
  23. Paul here...any chance I can get some pictures of your Ford for my website? I would really love to be able to show of that model! Best, Paul Fisher
