surprised the sales of 1/48 Zeros were meant to be disappointing though - I thought everyone raved about them?

the Spit IX would sell poorly; it’s not a very glamorous marque in terms of variety of markings, and sorry but I just don’t think any IX Eduard would release in 1/32 would be as good as Tamiya’s

A6M3 would be worth a shot - no-one else does one

early 190 series would be a good seller, provided they go together well, and they have the advantage that no-one else does them (A-1,2,3) and that many won’t touch the one A-4 readily available (Zoukei-mura).

But the tone sounds like they are just getting excuses ready to not do it

A little self-promotion - You can check out my build here: https://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/91951-132-ja37-viggen-jetmads/

With regards to the 3D print lines (we have been over this topic a few times - and I doubt the "critics" will change their minds  - which is perfectly fine. I am not looking to start yet another debate. Maybe they would change their minds if they would also build the kit instead of looking at it in the box thinking its impossible) then the ones in the cockpit are by far the worst to deal with. Next to impossible really without ruining all the detail.. Thats a shame of course but not a deal breaker for me.
The largest 3D printed part is the entire rear part of the fuselage. It takes a bit of sanding to eliminate the lines but nothing major - nothing major compared to what I would expect from an otherwise full resin kit and all the cleanup required on all major parts. I spent much more time on the main fuselage and wing joint (cast resin) than on the rear end. The joy I get from having a Viggen in 1/32 far outweigh any small issues I found with the kit parts.

If you are looking for a "Tamiya experience" from these kits - walk away. They are limited run kits with all that that involves but they are some of the very best I have tried.

Just placed an order for four copies.
Suprising how the 3D print-lines lobby seem to know more than the hundreds of modelers who line up to buy Jetmads kits do!

I'll cheer you on, from the sidelines.  I have enough trouble with NMF, before adding in the devil's dingleberries that are 3-D print-lines.

Indeed. If they go that route they will have soon another good reason to be disappointed by 1/32 sales!
A MiG would be a far better idea as they would have no serious competitor. They could easily start with a MiG-15 family. Come on...

And in that thread about scaling up some of their planes to 1/32 he said the 1/48 A6M3 was not a good seller for them and the Model 22 in particular so don’t look for any upscaled zeros from Eduard in the future.  He say that between the zero and the P-51B/C, he’d choose the latter but then added what Ben wrote above about the Spitfire.  Kind of disappointing if you ask me.  We’ll see what they intend to do.  Another Mk IX?  I’ll pass.

That was my question to Eduard in case anyone was wondering.

nmayhew got a reaction from BarryWilliams in Does anyone still use enamels?
If you go onto the Airfix groups on Facebook you would think it’s 1980 - a huge number of people on there still use enamel paints.

Outside of the UK (because that’s 99% of the Airfix group’s membership by the look of it), the Vallejo acrylic tide appears to have washed nearly all before it, with only the barnicle-like enamel users clinging to the rock!

but my feeble metaphors aside (or was it a simile?), there is a significant minority - an enlightened one I like to think - that has discovered the sun-lit uplands of lacquer land

if you can ventilate appropriately, lacquers such as MRP (my paint of choice) are superior in every respect where air brushing is concerned to any acrylic out there, as well as enamels

if you haven’t tried lacquers you are missing out

Despite all this effort, the shape of the fuselage behind the cockpit still does not look good enough to me. Still looks a little fat
Let's see what it will look like when it's finished.

oh don't worry i'm with you on those completely unacceptable print lines (for my money, anyway)

i guess the humour is more directed at those who think that it's ok

AKA Cafano Dorsale Posteriore -- with corrections to the Italeri kit part (which has an erroneous hatch and is missing the starboard gun cooling port) along with enhanced detail, including open louvers and fully modeled interior surfaces. Hatches modeled separately, along with the optional small rear-facing scoop seen on the later series.

I have pics which clearly show front, middle and rear turrets with guns when painted as an assembly ship

i did a lot of research on this bird a few years back as I was specifically looking for an assembly ship which was not ‘toothless’, and they are hard to find.

from memory, the guns are shown early on in its assembly ship ‘transition’, and the paint scheme evolved

in the end it just went back on the ‘file it away’ shelf, mainly because although I like the shark mouth, I don’t like the name so the whole project got parked.

Whether it's bare metal or painted, you're gonna have to fix those lines. Or better yet, Jetmads could get their act together and print their kits properly.

Hm.  I could be wrong on this, but I think the only F-84Fs to carry nuclear bombs would have been the bare metal ones, and if so, that doesn't seem to work well with models having lots and lots of 3-D layer lines.
