  1. Hey, been following this and it’s really looking cool! i like the thinned black/brown spray approach though personally I would be a bit apprehensive of spraying on too much, but I guess once you have airbrush technique nailed it’s ok i also like the buffing / gentle sanding for additional effects - I will definitely be trying that! thanks as always for sharing your builds here Nick
  2. do we have confirmation this new kit has the staggered waist windows? Elizabeth looks good - she always did! - but from a modelling perspective, HK made a big 'miss' by never tooling something that could make the likes of a 'Bit O' Lace' etc
  3. i am deeply suspicious of the accuracy of anything AK churns out, but if it is really Randall and Julian's book and just published by AK, then I would have high expectations. i wonder how much new material there is though? but no 1/32 decals...sorry but meh then, even if the book itself looks very cool
  4. good to see one of these being built - and so adeptly - so soon after release nice work with the black CA; interestingly i think i used BSI before I can't recall, but I can also vouch for AK Black Widow (same sort of black CA) - despite the gimmicky name, it is pretty much instantly sandable, so it's a highly recommended technique the close up of the downed Val is one of the sharpest pics of anything Japanese aviation i have seen; some of the rivet lines you have removed are just visible, but i entirely get why you did what you did looking forward to more on this and following intently cheers Nick
  5. That is indeed correct there was talk of a FAA Corsair conversion but that has yet to materialise; now, I’ll still buy one if / when it finally sees the light of day, but the time to release that was surely when Tamiya was launching those kits? always easy from the outside looking in, of course; I hope he can see out the tough times Nick
  6. you don't "have to" undercoat yellow with white; with certain paints it may help you get the job done with fewer coats - but there is nothing 'magic' about yellow anyway...may I ask where you got those stencils? do you have a link please? they look awesome!! paint job looking good btw
  7. A shame he is struggling but as someone else said his product line is pretty stale (from a LSP point of view), and i don’t think he has moved quickly enough into the world of 3DP The LSP world is ultimately pretty small in the grand scheme of things, and its aftermarket world even smaller, so you need to ride whatever waves you can
  8. I think so yes i’m still not convinced how well it go together, their sprue gates are still a bit a where Tamiya was over a decade ago, but it probably is the best out there.
  9. same here the Va isn’t really a Mk V at all in my book!
  10. I’m interested to see the photographic evidence for those aircraft…
  11. This. If his stuff is even half as good as it looks, LMF is where you go.
  12. Hey Dennis, Are you connected to him at all? Otherwise I would have thought his Facebook page is probably easiest / most direct way to provide feedback? Ray, Is this with a view to...checking for accuracy, or actually using as base kit? This is from the dark days of 1/32...I have never seen one in person but from the images I have seen of Jerry's stuff they are "of the time"; whilst they may (or may not) be accurate in outline, I don't think the level of surface detail or sharpness of moulding is anything close to what is acceptable today; not a criticism of Jerry's pioneering work, just that times move on. Plus the fact that it's OOP and there must be maybe a handful out there? Whilst what we like is indeed subjective, the above is rather 'elastic with the truth' in WWII 1/32. There's possibly one kit from HKM (A-20), one kit from GWH (P-40), one from Kotare (Spitfire), and then there's Tamiya. Lots of other "good" kits, but nothing else for me that is really tier one. To each his own!
  13. hey, I don’t have the kit (sadly zero budget at mo) but one thing re your set is that it doesn’t seem to address the changes to the underside? from memory - and I emphasise this is from memory - the underside of an e wing is not the same as the c i recall something similar coming up in 1/32 scale with Tamiya’s IXc (although I cannot recall the aftermarket company in question) which is why I raise it here. I may be wrong in that your set does have the relevant bits, but I can’t tell since the instructions section on the website only has Hellcat and Typhoon stuff when I click 1/24? hope this helps a little Nick PS I would also try to see where the original kits are being sold? My guess is that the Model Kits For Less Facebook group did a truck load of these, so I would speak to Mike Jolly and see if he can promote your set? (He has a real shop and then leverages of that - although probably the other way round now as I imagine online says dwarf the shop)
  14. Hi @Antonio Argudo By chance I think I saw the above relic in person at the Lashenden Air Warfare Museum a few days ago. In person the dark paint looks black (but faded / dusty with age) - do you think that is in original RLM66? I am shocked at how dark it is - it seems darker than Dunkelgrau for panzers (which was actually super dark, despite how all the Spanish school and AK crazies depict it!). I am interested in your expert opinion! Kind regards, Nick PS I even asked the guys at the museum, 'are you sure no-one repainted this before you took it in to your collection some 40+ years ago...?'
  15. Always good to see these built! On a construction note for your future efforts, the wheels should not be near vertical but rather be pretty much in line with the angle of the landing gear legs. Hope this helps Nick
  16. hi Bill, for the uninitiated, can you elaborate post some ref pics to explain what we should be looking for / the differences to what we see in the renders?
