  1. Ha Ha! we can nick the no show tables. they were behind us last year.
  2. As usual Roy, Im there with my Spit and if all goes well my B17 so thats a quarter of the 24 ft taken up!
  3. Thats nice work I have a little update soonest.
  4. Dale, from my research, basically anything goes. these aircraft were really battered and beaten so a patchwork of various shades of green will do. Initially the planes were delivered green over grey then as the war progressed and the allies gained air superiority, they were delivered in natural metal finish. notwithstanding they stood out to lurking night fighters who picked them out on the ground on moonlit nights. As a result topside camo was hastily reapplied giving green over silver. I think thats right anyhow. FYI dont forget the flight surfaces, i.e. ailerons, rudders and elevators were fabric covered frameworks so will be quite noticeably different in shade
  5. Congratulations Aniya, you should be justifiably proud on work well done. Well cool. You too Paul, A great distraction. Its all too easy for kids nowadays to vegitate behind the latest phone or tablet. now's the time to introduce her to your stash!
  6. Lovely work well done. Cosford?
  7. A little more progress with the cockpit. Onto the quilting I thought miliput was a bit thick and sticky for the job and it ruined the kitchen sieve yep im in trouble. Anyhow, I was using a set of cutters when I saw the handle pattern .Bingo! Embossed kitchen foil and here are the results A little wash et voilla chipping on the control pedestal and its starting to come together slowly. BTW the cockpit isnt finished!
  8. This is great information really useful and enlightening to boot. In short, and what is good news, is that there is obviously no right answer from aircraft to aircraft so really anything goes as long as its not cerise or plum purple. I could really do with the parachute information as im about to crew up the cockpit and may need to adapt the figures I have to suit. Anyone?
  9. For me, shape and overall accuracy must represent the intended subject, although in my opinion, a little too much time may have been spent pawing over minor inaccuracies. Give modellers the option. the scored panel lines is a great idea. Engines, again options, don't make overall construction of a model reliant on engines having to built if they are never going to be seen, but if a modeller chooses to put them in and show them off, great. Options. some subjects have so many variants how will they fit into the same box?. rest assured though forget to cover one variant the wrath of the variant fan will be invoked. In terms of ordinance, again the choice is great. Decals, again with so many variants, how many sheets would be needed? Parts count? over engineered kits are just as much a pain as undetailed or inaccurate kits. Thanks so much for taking an interest in our views . The F111 would be something else a very impressive subject with lots of scope to build a great model. Keep up the very good work.
  10. Ok crew question, so as not to open another thread. Like the fighter pilots, did the pilot & co pilot sit on their parachutes during flight?
  11. A pain in the arris to handle whilst building up, makes a complete mess of the workbench, Space vampires, Superbly impressive when built up, Whats not to like?
  12. Lovely execution of a classic kit. That really deserved being built sympathetically and youve certainly done that. Well done.
  13. I guess the word is my omelette then? although I think bright baby blue might be a little wide of the mark/ Very many thanks for everyones input, I will post up my progress as I go.
  14. Interior green or bare metal silver?? Can anyone please help im seeing all sorts of variations. I know the soundproofing was a dark green BTW Thanks in anticipation
  15. Holy c**p thats great work and a brilliant idea for producing the "quilting" , i may just have to steal it for my B17 Keep up the fantastic work.
  16. Part 2 of my Dio challenge starts. Part 1 if you cast your mind back was my Meng ME 163. Part 2 is a "crew in" HK B17. I really am making this up as I go along, and as I wanted to do a little figure painting off the bat, I started with the Bomb aimers position complete with bomb aimer and "gunner assistant" Nav. So the crew starts with the wonderful Master Details Bomb aimer figure. The nav is actually a 1/35 Czech Masters Blackhawk door gunner with one of the spare heads from the Master Details kit and a little milliput for the fur cuffs and collars. Anyhow here's progress so far . The front turret sight in the kit is ridiculously large. even after thining and some reduction it is still a little on the thick side and unfortunately covers the bomb aimers fizzog. Next up the traditional starting point, the cockpit.
  17. if its any consolation ive dismantled my 1.1 scale 900 ss many a time. they come apart and go back together very well. Keep up the good work
