  1. Its all a little confusing to me and I ask would anyone buy a 1/37 scale Sherman if one were released?

I cant believe that the choice of 1/35 is driven purely by Diorama integration with armour but then what would I know.

On the other hand, I get the discussion around new improved kits, even on subjects that have already been covered, and therefore view it as an expansion to the hobby in improving choice, HOWEVER, while I may fancy having a crack at the 111 as it does look good, 1/35 doesn't really blow my skirt up as there are no subjects released yet that i'm really interested in.

I do hope these releases are successful as more choice shows the hobby is far from dying, and in time, there may be something for me but in general i'll l be holding on to my hard earned at least until i see some of the 111's reviewed and, who knows, built.

The thing is that 1:35 figures can easily fit into a 1:32 diorama (with a little artistic licence) as people vary in size, so they're just on the small side.  But I'm unashamedly "scaleist" in terms of aircraft as I want a constant scale across my LSPs.  YMMV.

absolutely agree BUT we are not the ones making business decisions. I would like to think that there is some business acumen as to why border chose 1/35 and why release subjects already covered in 1/32 (accuracy aside).

Of course there is no law that dictates  aircraft should be produced in 32nd, rather, it is an accepted scale for aircraft as opposed to the "tamiya" introduced scale of 1/35 for armour.

Question, would armour modellers be buying a 1/37 scale Sherman if anyone released one?

  3. The irony of all this, when a 1 32 aircraft was put into a dio with 1/35 figures and vehicles nobody really cared, but now its a thing and apparently always has been amongst armour modeller's who are now saying its about time etc..

ANYHOO, I cant help but feel that this is a (understandable) cash grab on MOTA which, from a business perspective makes obvious sense

I hope the kit is top drawer but i have too much invested in the HK fort to sell and buy. shame really,

The Heinkel 111 on the other hand .........

  4. Iv'e got a Polestar 2 through work and I love it. Took it to France from the Midlands and had 0 issues as far as charger availability charge times etc . A charge to 90% which is recommended gives me a range of around 240 miles 220 actual.

It costs me £2.10 a day to charge when I need to. (around 3 times a week)

  5. Well that went by quickly. The weekend felt like the millenium falcon on hyperdrive.

The show was that busy this year I didn't really get the opportunity to see as much as i would have liked.... I was fliting between the 32 Sig stand and the West Mids Police modellers club stand and both wer busy with interested parties.

We had 24 Ft of table under our control this year and we filled the lot.

When I get 5 I will post a few of my minimal photos up.

There were some superb builds going on, and overall, it seems the standard of modelling has gained momentum since the dreaded pandemic.

This is still on my bucket list to do. With only recently having procured a new job (not starting until the 20th of this month) and having a fairly expensive family getaway in December, this is still financially out of my reach this year. :(

Hopefully someday.   Make sure to take lots and lots of pics gents!

And it will great to meet you when you do.

Should be OK - and the Membership Sec. has been an absolute star - I don't want to add to his workload!

Topped up the car's tank, recharged the Sat Nav, got the money in the bank ready just in case I see something, floor plan downloaded from the UK IPMS Site, and just waiting for the off now.

    Cheers

FYI we are in Hall 3 this year by the main entrance and cafe so expecting 100% footfall also taking into account Four Corners modellers are our neighbours...

My gut feeling is telling me that someone is doing very deep measurement/analysis of specific airframe maybe even some cad work then selling this to multiple companies. To me this is the only explanation. We have had new F-4 in 1/48 all at once, new f-14, then new ah4, new p-51d ,mosquitos, ect

It got to be some ahared data somewhere making this happen

To be fair, that was also my thinking, however, is that possible with licencing issues etc or is it a nefarious activity?

If this was the case, whoever scanned the airframes (assuming permission), surely did not have subsequent carte blanche to distribute the files to all and sundry.

I'm sure this is not necessarily the case as i would have thought there were copyright and other licencing issues to be taken into consideration?

I am of course speculating as i  don't fully understand the processes involved.

What I do know however, is that currently w have never had it so good in terms of large scale aircraft kits.

  12. I really dont get it, what is it exactly that has triggered 4 companies to produce kits for the same airframe (caveats apply) . The market for AH 64's surely cant be that that huge?

Anyhow, I've taken delivery of the Takom Guardian version and am extremely pleased with the quality of the kit. Im sure it will build into a perfectly passable Apache.
