  1. If my memory serves me, the old tool Hasegawa FW 190a did have an engine "under the hood." It wasn't a bad representation. Bill
  2. Really a beautiful model -- worth the time and effort. Love the markings, especially the contrast between the camo and the candy stripes ... Stunning. Bill
  3. Wow, more of your beautiful AM bits. I shall have to acquire the "Sutton Harness" for my Spit 16. Great work, as usual. Bill
  4. Sweet build! Especially impressive is the finish -- one of the best representations of the Soviet clear coated NMF. I hope I can approach your results.
  5. Darn, you're going to make me guilt myself into finishing my own Trumpeter MiG-21MF. Very nice work, especially the afterburner nozzle. I, too, bult the eduard assembly, but mine is not as symmetrical as yours.
  6. Very impressive Wurger! I particularly like the paint scheme and subtle weathering -- a plane in combat, but not war weary. Bill
  7. elric Your work on the Seafire is daunting and excellent. Thanks, especially, for the pics of the Spitfire prototypes. I have the Paragon conversion in my stash and appreciate your lovely models -- good inspiration to tackle one version or the other Bill
  8. I've got one stalled in progress. Another to save from the closet of doom. I'll follow your build, too. Bill
  9. Wow, great work! You make feel very guilty for not finishing a Romanian Bf-109G-2 I have on the bench. OK, I'll get to it! Bill
  10. I have seen the sheet show up on eBay at intervals. Last time it was $40.00 IIRC. Bill
  11. This is a scheme I would never have dared. I think you caught the camo quite well. Congratulations on your work, can't wait for the finished product. Bill
  12. OK, that's just my style! I've got only a couple of dozen kits in the stash that fit this build. I just have to actually build and finish one! Bill
  13. Very inspiring. I've got one in the post-stash, pre-build pile. Hope mine is a shadow of your effort. Thanks Bill
  14. Thanks for renewing this build. I have one in the stash that is destined to be the Polish "Swordfish." Really like the cockpit. i shall try to emulate. Bill
  15. Derek A great selection of needed upgrades. I especially like the idea of the seat and posable belts -- PE belts drive me nuts and my elder eyes have not attempted the fabric belts. The P-40Q conversion would be wild and crazy, I want one too. Bill
  16. When I built a 1/32 pink Spitfire FR 9, I used MM enamel FS 36622. I added the tiniest bit of red at a time until I arrived at a tone lighter than pink. The camouflage grey, I think, gave the color a better scale effect. Bill
  17. I'll certainly build this first one showing the engine. Subsequent Mustngs, maybe not so much. As I am also building the Spit XVI, I am became enamored of the engine detail; however, it is now somewhat redundant --unless you're building a maintenance diorama!? Jerry, what do you have in mind? Bill
  18. I'm going to ring in, too. I couldn't resist and pre-ordered one through HLJ. I'm kinda jazzed about this build. I haven't built a 1/32 P-51D in forever (whenever the Hasegawa kit was released). I've been so disappointed by the reviews of the Trumpeter and Dragon kits that I was ready to build another Hasegawa Mustang -- now this!!! My way-back machine is hard at work -- it looks like I will relive the Hawk 1/48 P-51D I built as a kid as Lou IV (or one of the other 361 FS a/c). Only this time, NOT with BLUE wings and upper fuselage. After the Tamita 1/32 Spitfires I'm expecting another exceptional kit. Bill
  19. Fascinating project. I am always interested in the enginuity of the Mittel European and Eastern European nationa in the face of shortages during WWII. The cowling looks almost like an inverted merlin cowl. Please keep us informed step by step. Bill

I'll be watching with great interest, too. I bought one for myself for Christmas and it is a truly beautiful kit. It's about third in line to build. I am also looking for a silver paint scheme. Take a look at Aeroscale for a couple of interesting builds. Bill
  21. Roland Let me add my kudos to all the rest -- an ispirational build. I am in the process of the same conversion and your build has motivated me. I am especially impressed by your analysis of the camouflage and markings. It certainly has changed my take on the aircraft. Thanks again for your exceptional work Bill
  22. My suggestions included the Hawker Tempest, Hawker Typhoon, Curtiss P-6 (a long-time favorite of mine), F-86 D/L, and the F-102. Wishful thinking. Bill
  23. Raf Thanks for the photos and narative. I am even more excited to begin the build. Bill
  24. Well, I paid by paypal last night for my pre-order of the P-40 F/L nose, I've got a Hasegawa Kittyhawk in the stash, The Zotz decals and the old Superscale set -- ready to roll on this one. I even practiced by building the P-40K kit. It's been one of my long frustrated builds, a 1/32, long tail, P-40F. Bill
