  1. Many thanks for your reply Radu. I hope you include in your packaging, sufficient materials to take into account people who mess the job up like me. 0.3mm x 0.1mm is going to be delicate in stainless steel. Have you considered cuppronickel alloy? It should be easier to work with, although not as resilient as Stanless steel. Regerds and thanks, Dave.
  2. Hi Radu, Would the material be metal, styrene or a type of flattened monofilament? Obviously polymers such as LDPE, HDPE. Polypropylene and Spectra wouldn't work. Cheers, Dave.
  3. Cheers Dave, As Stephen says above, there's plenty of companies producing flat wire. On doing a web search, I've found some that is about 0.4mm wide. I think I could live with that extra 0.1mm However, their web site doesn't seem to provide prices. I'm surprised that Small Parts don't seem to stock flat wire. Dave.
  4. Cheers Dave, Would that apply to a 1917/18 SE5A? It would certainly simplify things. Dave.
  5. Hi Jon, That would be fine for anything but British aircraft. They need a flat aerodynamic type of rigging. Regards, Dave
  6. That's very good news Radu. I think most of us can wait a month or two. Regards, Dave.
  7. Thanks, WRT work hardening, you are of course correct. I'd forgotten this point. It will align the granular structure. I was fixated on the strip taking on a curve. I have some Aeroclub thread. It seems to me that it is flat in section, although I'd need to measure it's dimensions. I used it well stretched on a 1/48 Gladiator. It's not easy to keep alligned and doesn't take paint easily. Maybe a type of ink would be better? Thanks for your thoughts. Dave.
  8. With the WW kits tempting me, I need to find a suitable rigging material. The specification seems to be 0.1mm x 0.3mm that's about 4 thou by 12 thou I've considered a few things: 1. Making a jig and cutting 0.3mm strips from 5 thou sheet. 2. Rolling 0.2 mm wire flat. OK for copper, but it wouldn't be stiff. 3. Making the required rigging by sanding stretched sprue. For what it's worth, 4 thou is about the thickness of a sheet of paper. I'm wondering if the Aeroclub rigging material would be about right? I must admit that 0.1mm x 0.3mm seems a bit femmer in this scale. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Dave.
  9. Hi Peter, I've taken the risk and ordered the set. Even if it requires a bit of re-painting it should be worth it. Many thanks for your help. Dave
  10. Many thanks Peter. It also seems that the etch is pre-painted too. Regards, Dave.
  11. I'm thinking of buying this because I've been stupid enough to lose part A4, the cockpit tub upper half. I've searched the net but can't find any reviews. I don't want to buy a pig in a poke and realise that scratch building a replacement wouldn't be too difficult. Any help would be welcome. Dave.
