    Hi Rick,
Ali62 from Aerocraft Models also make windscreens for the Ju88 fighter versions in 1/32. A standard one for the C-6 and armoured ones for the C-6 and G-6.
The G-1 and G-6 only had armoured windscreens and also the extended horizontal stabilizers.

    Hi Guys,

Here is a short treatise on recent developments at Casa Crosby.  I've got a number of 1/32 Hasegawa Fw190-A models and three PCM Early A series.  A couple of years ago I bought aftermarket hollowed out resin exhausts for the Hasegawa kits, plus some Ki-84 exhausts.  I painted them, along with two of the PCM sets (third one arrived later) and, like you do, put them in a bag or a container and put them away somewhere safe.  Forgot to say, there were two PCM Ta152C-1 exhaust sets as well, but I've used them. MEANWHILE!!! Back to the plot - I've lost them somewhere. I still had one set of PCM A exhausts, but they are clearly taken from the Hasegawa kit and reworked, and they are marginally smaller, which could only get worse if I copied them.

So, here's what I ended up doing: I drilled out three complete Ki-84 sets, wasn't worth the time and effort of making a mould.  Then I modified two sets of Hasegawa exhausts, made a mould box, let it set then cast a pile of bits.

Pilot holes drilled in the Ki-84 exhausts with my ancient Archimedes drill.  Yes, one is off but that actually doesn't matter as there's a lot of cutting and filing to take place still.

    First manifold already looking better.

First set of Ki-84 exhausts drilled and filed.  Obviously, I have cleaned up the seams and refined the lips from this attempt.

    And that's three sets.

    Starting on the Fw set.

    A short while later.........

Comparison of the PCM resin and reworked Hasegawa by Yours Truly.

Two sets of Hasegawa parts were modified so I could speed up the casting. Here's the mould and the mould box sans walls.

A pile of castings in need of some TLC.

Final result: Ten sets of Fw190-A series exhausts ready to go.  No, not PhotoShop!

How long did it take? I started looking for useable bits about 8pm on Tuesday and worked until gone 10pm.  On the Wednesday I carried on drilling and cleaning up, having decided to not cast the Ki-84 parts but drill three sets instead, also double up on the Fw parts. I made the mould box in the afternoon, gave it a couple of hours for the cements to gas off and added the RTV in the evening.  I had the mould box cracked open by 8am on the Thursday and spent the whole day casting and cleaning up the results.  All done by about 3pm.

Was it worth the effort?  Yes, as now I'll find the originals inside the week.  If I hadn't made them, the old ones would be lost to the mists of time. That's pretty much a hard and fast rule in modelling!

    Regards,

    Bruce Crosby

    Hi @Dennis7423

One of my favorite a/c, it looks great! Very good job indeed.
I used Pastor John's/AIMS sets to convert my A-4 to a C-6, fully agree that it is really nice stuff. I had the same nose/fuselage issues though...modelling...

As far as the canopy "conversion" goes, I had the same issue in converting to a C-6 (no forward Mg through the windshield)
My approach was to first sand off all the asymmetric framing, then use a mirrored template made from Tamiya tape of the opposite side windshield. I use that then to use as cut lines to cut out the canopy part, and make an insert from clear acetate. Frames were built up in paint using Mr. Surfacer.

Here's the final result. Not perfect, but very passable

All the best with the build, can't wait to see her finished!!!!!

So far all they are sowing is the engine and the foreword fuselage to the back of the cockpit.  I could not find more details though and the packaging they are suggesting seems to be just the engine and framing to attach it to the bulkhead so again not sure exactly what they are doing but it is interesting even if it is only going to be part of the plane.  At 1/12 I would not be interested in a whole plane.

In 1/12 scale, a kit of the whole aircraft would have a wingspan of 1 metre (3.29 feet) and a length of 0.75 meters (2.46 feet). There are dimensionally larger aircraft models. The Zero in 1/12 would have essentially the same wingspan as the Border Lancaster and be slightly longer.

It went off grand, like it always does. Aside from a light drizzle for a while, the weather was OK, fire pit was roaring, and the food was magnificent.

Actually the guy is making the models HE wants. It looks he has no actual large scale marketing goal. The sales to other modellers are a positive side effect of his hobby. Globally, this is very positive for others as well as this results in the release of oddball topics we would never see otherwise! The Scylla was quite famous as she was the mainstay of Imperial airlines with the HP42/45. She has that Agatha Christie era flavor! Not my cup of tea  but nonetheless interesting. However, I'm afraid this one will ask for a TON of work to get a good result in large scale.

I’ve got another Echelon Lightning to do so won’t be investing in the Trumpeter one, but I’m delighted for those who want a large scale model of this iconic, imposing aeroplane.

That's pretty ironic. In the last month, a Trumpy Lightning sold for £335.00 on E-Bay! I would think the buyer will be cursing their luck right now.

I am patient, hopefully! And this took time but I was finally quite lucky as, since the COVID appeared, I found the following second-hand kits: HpH Tigercat and C-47, two Revell Ju-88A4 and AIMS 188A, IMC & Revell Jetrangers, the Scratchbuilders Defiant, the Collectaire T-38, the Fisher X-1, the Marsh Models Comet, the Silver Wings He-51a and Siskin, the Echelon and Trumpeter early Lightnings, the Jetmads Viggen and finally the Preiser Alphajet! Moreover, I got all of them for acceptable prices. Strangely, it was incredibly difficult to find some of them for many years and then they appeared in a quite small time period! The wish list of discontinued kits is now empty and the situation is quite similar with regard to books even if there are still a bunch of them I'm still looking for (essentially some mid and late war Classic Jagdwaffe issues).

Sadly none of these subjects appeal to me, but ironically I’m co-hosting a GB on Britmodeller, build subject is “Go large or go home”……yes, 1/32 and 1/35 or larger subjects, including aircraft, armour, cars, bikes etc etc.
