  1. Each to his own I guess. I have done the opposite like you have. Raided the LHS and found only two. I snoozed too long. Others beat me to it. Rick
  2. Oooooo! Nice choice indeed.
  3. Nice work. I love the engine mod. I am glad bought one of these kits. Rick
  4. Ok John, the wings are in the mail. Your package contains all that you need including the clear parts. Please let us all know how this works out. Rick
  5. I so want the Arizona kit but I know I would never get it done. I am Jelous. Rick
  6. This cracks me up! Yesterday.... I just knew I owned one extra resin wheel well for the P-51D and one for the Alison engine variants. Well it turned out that Mr. brain-of-a-forgetful-squirrel, stashed both and one other Alison taped to the JR P-51B in its kit box. That makes three plus the one that Jerry included with the kit. Now that I am retired and catching up on bench time I am discovering deep secrets buried in the stash. No extra WNW kits however. Rick
  7. Great model. Very nice shiny bird. You have captured the metal scheme really well. What's next? (I think you should do a Pacific theatre P-51D). Rick
  8. Maybe the problem with pushing out a Devastator could be the internal Trumpeter paperwork all in Chinese except for the "TBD". Rick
  9. A new release would indeed be nice and while we wait we are continuously overwhelmed by new 1/32 scale kits. I can wait. Rick
  10. I have the kit so it is great to see this build going on while I am in the trenches with my other builds. I was planning to clean up around "all that beautifuly rendered corrugated surface" using a Fiberglass scratch brush tool. I am betting that a buffing motion parallel to the grooves will remove the trash in the grooves and high points equally. Rick
  11. I have the Hobbycraft P-51A decals that I will not be using. See me a PM to get it all organized and determine the amount of treasure you will need to feed my PayPal account. I will need your mailing address too. Rick
  12. Nice concept and title. I will get back to the group. The last three GB I was unable to even get started. Commitment seems to be a jinks. Also I have such a backlog of kits from years I want to finished. My two night fighters are way beyond 25%. If I do something it could be a Huricane or a Boulton Paul. Rick
  13. Well I feel that the color is nice.
  14. I should have posted earlier. I put the racer and my work on other resin kits on hold until I can control the dust and the glue fumes. The hobby room has been scrubbed. Now a sanding booth of sorts has to be created. Rick
  15. My Special Hobby Fokker D.ll arrived from Poland today. Quick trip over the pond. Nice looking kit. Clean molding. I know nothing about the aircraft so no comments about accuracy etc. I may add some AM gauges and a machine gun. We shall see how the kit gun goes together. . Rick
  16. Man those things could shread a lot of "evidence".
  17. I am not familiar with the paint range/ manufacturer you are using so the following may be mute unless you want to pick a different paint. As Jennings was implying, a name such as, "interior dull green" that is brandished by a paint company can be a bit loose. My mind went to P-47 cockpit and came up with "Dark Dull Green". I have used Gunze H65 RLM 70 "Black Green" and Vallejo 71.125 "USAF Green FS 34092". IIRC I added a bit of white. These colors look right to my eyes which is what really matters. Good luck and have fun always, Rick
  18. Great start. The fuselage inside looks good to me. The engines in WNW kits are real nice models by themselves. Metal showing the wear and tear is done to great effect.
  19. My WNW Junkers D.1 kit arrived today from Sprue Brothers. Another jem it is. A good kit to get started on WWI model airplanes IMHO. The "purple" and green camo is a hoot and looks easy to do. The LHS came through for me again. The ICM Bucker Bu 131 D to my surprise was already in stock so I just had to take one home. The owner has a knack for what many folks would say are esoteric. I just love it when I stop in for some sheet plastic and leave with a kit. This could be my next build after the Revell P-51. Rick
  20. Some of the threads on the hardware were a bit rough, but cleaned up after a few twists. Nice unit overall. I ordered another. I always have more than one build kit going on. Rick
  21. Cutting and gluing the foam is all part of the DYI fun. I put mine together yesterday and it's in business right now. I think the stand is pretty slick. Rick
  22. Bravo! The build has been great fun to watch. So.... What's next?! Rick
  23. Looks very good. I will keep the size discrepancy in mind. The 1/48 decals look fine. Rick
