  1. JR, As to any parts in resin for the revell kit would be a BIG help.As to building the revell 38 as to when it first came out has always been a deal as to having certain parts upgrade wise for the kit.The elevator and the counter weights would be a good deal and the ailerons as to what u'er doing on u'er 38.And the one big thing or two is the gunbay covers on the inside as to the way the ones look on the gun nose versionand the details for s droop snoot as to the inside of the nose.Adding a bomb sight from the kit will not do.Larry
  2. Forgot to say that maybe there might have been some PE ones eduard for the P-40.But can not remember for sure.maybe one of the guys here might know.Larry
  3. Graham, Never saw anything as to when io did my two 17's.The only thing one can do is make them or get some of the guys to send their unwanted revell P-40 gunsights from the kit.I have two and can send them to u.What do u say guys?Let's help graham complete that 17.Larry
  4. Jeff, As to shapes and the way some vacs are made.Alittle hit and miss never hurts to make it better.Wait until u tackle that A-26 and B-24.As for the sheet being added between the fuselage halves.I use strips of 1/8th balsawood that i glue to the insides of the halves. Then i use a palm sander to bring them back to so the halves will lay flat and do the way u did as to gluing them in place.Larry
  5. Jeff, Very nice 234 indeed and the resin pit from radu was a very nice touch as well.As for the vac parts.can help u out for future replies if anyone asks u.If the plastic is a yellowish or light tan colored vac parts wise. She's a ID one.If the plastic is some what a bright white or clean white. She's Combat. But to be honest. There both the same here and there. U'er 234 turn out very good. And i'll be using u'er pic's and info for my 234 later on this year. She'll be a four engined job and might be a nightfighter.Larry
  6. JR, Most excellent work on those nacelles and back dating u'er 38.One question for u as to the scopes on the underside of the booms. Our those resin scopes u made going to be available to anyone who wants them for a project.I have the revell kit and have in the works plans for doing an F-5E recon version of the 38.It has the vac nacelles and boom scoops that will back date it as to what u'er doing.Larry
  7. As Fox Mulder would say.The Truth is Out There! But sometimes the truth can be misguided.Even as to the A-6 Inturder and probably others that trump may seem good. But can to be a falsehood. And the black one is going to rise. But be patient. All things come to those who wait.Larry
  8. Comrade Matt, I see that u'er SU-27 has turned out very nice. And we at the KGB look forward i seeing more of mother russia's fine aircraft on display. So,Comrade,What are u'er plans for the next project that we would like to see.And remember Comrade. We at KGB are watching u VVVEEERRRYYY Closely.Larry
  9. One could use the gear legs from the tamiya kit F-4 if one wishes to do so.And the SAC metal gears are excellent as well.Larry
  10. Guys, There was a company that was to come out with the 111.Aerodynamics was the company. It was suppost to be a mix of resin and vac parts. They even going to release a A-10 as well. This was around the late 80 or early 90's.There was an ad in an issue of FSM.I think the company was in france or the UK.But it all went down hill in the late 90's.Larry
  11. To All who have replied to the build.I thank u for u'er kind remarks.Larry
  12. Jeff, Glad u'er ok as to the flu thing and the work u have done is BOSS!That helldiver or should i say the "BEAST" looks ACES!I started one but it fell short do to the vac clear parts not fitting right. They were small for some reason.Anything as to what u did as to the clear parts on u'er helldiver.I need to finish her.Larry
  13. U'er jug is looking really great and that wiring in the gear bay is really BOSS!U'er pulling off a one of a kind build as well.Larry
  14. Well,Since u have built severAL OF THE REVELL KITS AND FROM THE ONES U HAVE SEEN ON THE SITE.And as to the kits as to comparing the adding items from lone star and as to the trump kit.And to the money one is to invest in adding resin and PE as to either kit.It would be for me that the trump kit would be the way to go.But one would consider a time frame as to getting it done.Spending the money and etc. for getting the corsair u want to be added into u'er collection of corsairs. One should consider all of these things when one wants that one of a kind model.Others may say different here. But u'er the modeler who will make that decision. One builds for ones self and what one likes for his own enjoyment.Larry
  15. Gary, My cutlass is on the site. But it's the version u posted to this request.Might want to look under the Articles or the jet age gallery on the site. But she's here some where.Larry
  16. Gary, Have built both ID and the Combat kit.If u have the thing as to them being basic. Then the rest should be easy as to the kit being vac.The kit comes with the following parts on a carrier sheet and u'll have to cur them from the sheet. 1.Kit has two fuselage halves. 2.Four wing sections. 3.Four fin pieces. 4.One clear canopy. 5.Gear legs times four and same for the nose strut. 6.Wheels and tires that are molded in halves. Doesn't seem like much. But the wheel and tires i never used and same for the struts. These were made from scracth out of plastic tubing. One can use plastic wheel and tires or use rubber ones from a old revell F-15 kit.Wheels are from the same kit.But to get them right.U might have to scracth the wheels if u'er doing to do a wheels down.If u'er planning to it wheels up.Then u'er in better shape. I use 48th scale plans from a kit when their is one out on the market. It helps out in a big way.One other thing i use when i do vac is to use strips of balsawood on the inside of the fuselage that is glued to the edge of the fuselage halves. But one should sand down the edges here to make sure it fit flush.Wings are cut out and sanded smooth and fitted and then when that's done.I run super glue down the inside of the wing and then shoot some hardener down on the glue until it sits up.Same for the trailing edge of the wing. Gluing the fuselage is easier.I tack it in different places and then run a stream of glue down the center of the fuselage same way as to the wings. But the big thing here is the cockpit that u'll have to make from scracth. The seat may come from the F-8 Crusader kit or the resin one that's out on the market.U'll have to get some pic's of the pit.Might try google for them.Hope this helps u out.Larry
  17. BB, There were 2,000 pounders the eigth air force used. But never have seen one in 32nd.The biggest i have seen is the 1.000 that come with the trump P-38.It seems bigger than the ones that come with the revell droop snoot.Larry
  18. Jack, Well Now!U'er cat is coming together very well and that finish is really nice.Hope to see her finished soon.Larry
  19. Max, If u keep up that kind of work as to the pit and tail wheel. Were all in alot of trouble for someone being a newbie.Welcome.Larry
  20. Started this kit of the Revell P-38M two weeks ago and here is what has been done since then: 1. added the Combat Models vac conversion for the P-38M. 2. added Jerry Rutman pit set and a Trump 38 film IP. 3. PE harness bits from Eduard. 4. sanded down all raised scoops and etc; added plastic tubing as replacements. 5. added JR's resin wheel wells .Details go in later. 6. used a Trump nose as to the Revell kit nose. 7. sanded down all the rivets as to rescribing. 8. used gun sight from a Hasegawa P-47 kit.
  21. Allok, Pile of parts is one thing. But as to what the pile of parts i have from the trump P-38 kit and the vac nacelles for a E model P-38 by revell and scracthing the camera ports to make a F-5E-1.Then we'll see if a pile of parts will workout een better. But we'll have to see later on down the road.Larry
  22. Allok, Got the revell one.But just not seem to build it.Got to get JR's bomb racks and some PE harnesses and a few other things.Might be getting it done about the end of spring. But who knows as to the way i feel as to just doing WWII props.I think we all change our minds as to saying i'll make a list then built them in the order i put them in.Got to doing a P-38M using the vac conversion from Robert's Models. Not bad.But JR's is alot better. Will try and post some WIP pic's soon.Larry
  23. Allok, Well,As to the boob tube.I have two.But as to my medical problems that have popped up.I'm kind of homeward bound.Nothing serious. But doctor said to lay back for awhile. As to the PCM 152.I have one better in the stash.I have jerry rutman's first release of the H and i plan on doing it way better than the combat build.Larry
  24. Graham, She's coming along very nicely and the frame work is looking great. One question as to what u plan on doing as to the clear pieces.Had some trouble as to my Memphis Belle and she's been put away for good.To much work would be needed to get her done right.Larry
