  1. Hi Peter, good evening. If you are referring to the pewter that I sent you, it was bought here in Portugal. A roll of 1m x 47,5cm costs 21€ and they post to England and elsewhere. Post for England costs 6.80€. Here is the URL http://sitiodasartes.com/p/14132/Estanho---folha-de-estanho-de-2-caras---1mtx475cm Very good job by the way, my congratulations for an excellent model. I wonder why you bought the kit, you have the skills to build one from scratch better than the one you bought. I am leaving on vacations and I will be out for 2-3 weeks, on returning I intend to send you some more of that material. Best regards JL
  2. It is not aluminium, it is tin and pewter is basically tin (around 98%). Ask Peter (Airscale). I sent him some of that material and he tried it. Regards JL
  3. Read this: http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=58310&page=2&do=findComment&comment=718015 I don't know if they sell for Germany, but you can ask them. Regards JL
  4. From Wikipedia: Pewter is a malleable metal alloy, traditionally 85–99% tin, with the remainder consisting of copper, antimony, bismuth and sometimes, less commonly today, lead. Silver is also sometimes used. Tin, well, is tin, of course JL
  5. I'm glad the tin foil was useful, and that it is now a small part of your masterpiece... Very, very good work.
  6. Hello That stuff is what is sold here in Portugal as "tin foil". It is sold in rolls and one metter costs around 20€. I send some to Peter (of the Tigercat) for him to give it a try. Bought one roll at a craft shop and I think it is really pewter, If it is not, well it is very similar. Regards JL
  7. Hi Peter, an hello from Portugal I am an avid reader of your work, and what a wonderful job it has been. I am puzzled with the price that you mention for the pewter. I recently bought here in Portugal, what is described as "folha de estanho" (tin sheet), but is not pure tin, of course. It is used mainly for craft. It comes as 0,2mm sheets, of 47,5 x 50 or 100 cm, the BIG difference is the price. See for yourself: http://sitiodasartes.com/c/2101/Estanho/ It does everything that your pewter does, it molds extremely well over a mold. If you want to try, please give me your address by PM and I'll be very happy to send you a sample. Keep on the very good work. JL
