All of this talk about hurry and buy now is just BS. There will be enough of these kits and with cheaper prices with FREE shipping that I can wait a month or two to buy one. It is the same with the A-6. I have to wait a bit but I will be getting it for alot cheaper than what was going for in the first run.

If the manufacturers are going to tell me that if I want their kit and I have to pay a set price for said kit, I will not buy it. I do not pay full retail for anything. So I guess I will have to do without.

Judging from what I've read, the B-17 will be just like the B-25's as far as availability is concerned. If you want one now, then buy one now. If you want to wait for a better price then wait. You shouldn't have any trouble getting a kit should you want it at a price within your cost-benefit envelope. However, we need to be reasonable; if you're expecting to get one for $125 then you're going to be SOL (sh*t outta luck).
 
Me? I still don't want one until they fix the nose shape issue. Then, I'm all over it.

Cut through 'kitchen gadget' section in Walmart this morning....4 pack of "Sunbeam" brand clamps caught my eye...item # 61529....not unlike chip bag clamps, but a bit better.....only a couple of bucks, so figured what the heck....seems they work very well for holding wings together while the glue sets.

Speaking for myself, certainly not angry with you in any way at all Tim....this situation is completely beyond your control......but Squadron/MMD can kiss my a$$.
 
You're 100% correct Lee...this is exactly why the anti-trust laws are on the books....and will be notifying Squadron that I also intend to file a complaint against them with the Federal Trade Commision concerning this business practice....for all practical purposes witholding a product to create a monoply that they control....
 
In the meantime, will continue to peck away on the items for the Widow that I do have....

My response to those who are critical of the HK B-17 is: Contact HK and tell them about your concerns, if you haven't already. They've made it clear that they are dedicated to making their kits as accurate as possible and have shown themselves to be responsive to customer feedback. If enough people squawk loud enough, bye and bye they'll get around to correcting the problem, if not on this kit, maybe on the F.
 
Myself, I'm not going to let a detail like a too round upper nose compartment keep me from a kit I've waited thirty years for. I'd rather concentrate on what's right about this kit than what's wrong. I suspect that this flaw won't be all that noticeable to most of us in the finished model anyway.
