  1. Yes I have. With a bit of EZ line they look fine to me. Another thing I've experimented with is the winding off of the end of an old electric wound guitar string. Tel
  2. Is this the same MEK that I used to use in the printing trade? It was used a an extreme ink solvent and rubber reviver. Highly inflammable and very dangerous. We used to have to keep it locked up in a metal locker outside the building! Is it the same in the USA? Tel
  3. I'm hearing that term a lot these days, and not just with modelling. I think people use it when they're just not interested or bothered. I wonder what he'd say if you asked about 1/24 scale then? Tel
  4. So it's a non-smelly product then? Only last time I used Alclad II I was virtually banished from the house by my wife. It didn't do my asthma any good either!
  5. Sounds like it would make the house smell like a car paint shop. I'll probably give it a miss!
  6. What is this Aqua Gloss you speak of? Tell me more! Tel
  7. Hi Gremmell I think many of us arrived here via the same route as you. I came back to the hobby in my 50s. I too am in awe of the quality of the projects I see on here – it's what motivates me to keep doing this and try to do better each time. That kit will certainly keep you going during the long winter nights! Personally I chickened out and built the Revell one instead! Tel
  8. I was thinking of doing one of these too. I was wondering what choice of aftermarket bits we have nowadays?
  9. Planning? Not much of that going on here. Life's too short! Basically I'll take a fancy to a particular subject then look for a suitable kit which I can afford, followed by lots of googling. If I get stuck then I post on here for an answer. One rule I always stick to is never start a new build before the previous one is finished. My house is too small to have loads of half-finished kits everywhere.
  10. You’ve probably already tried this by how about micro shot weights from your angling shop? They’re tiny!
  11. Is it me or is that instrument panel a bit lame for something in this scale? Will there be any after-market stuff I wonder?
  12. So the extra belt is still a mystery then?
  13. Wow! I didn't even know you could get vac kits that big.
  14. Hi Fanes It's not the back rest. That's accounted for in step D. The photo etch part sounds about right though. It's obviously being used for several different sets.
  15. Hi Bill That makes sense. They must be using the same fret for several different sets.It seems obvious now!
  16. Sorry R Sorry mate. I was getting confused! It looks like there are at least three sets for this model.
  17. Thanks Richard. The set I have is actually 132564, but the same applies. https://hgwmodels.cz/en/132-scale/462-arado-ar-196a-3-seatbelts-seats-132-132564.html As you can see , there are belts for the pilot and the gunner, plus a third one shown in the instructions on the bottom left and labelled C. On the photo etch there is a large item across the bottom which is unnumbered. plus a few small parts numbered 9 top right of the fret. Any ideas guys?
  18. Hi. I'd love to but I don't appear to have the option to attach photos, other than from a URL. What am I doing wrong here?
  19. Hi everyone. Just building Revell's excellent Arado 196B kit. I bought a set of HGW belts for it which includes resin seats, and what is puzzling me is what those spare bits are: There's an extra single belt which is shown as attaching to 'kit part'. But what kit part and where? Secondly, there's a large piece of unnumbered photoetch which runs the length of the sprue. Finally, there are several small parts which look like brackets or clasps. What are they? Sorry to sound like a complete dork but this is really baffling me!
  20. Definitely the Revell 1/32 F-8.
