  1. Windscreen interior details; annunicator lights, wiring, electrical connectors and adel clamps.
  2. I should have said that I did used the Trumpeter lower side rails of the windscreen as a foundation to build on.
  3. Windscreen built up from laminated styrene strip. I carved the shape in the form of a channel into the wood block former then layed in the styrene strips. Glass will actuall glaze into a glazing gooves.
  4. Hi Guys, Here are a few more photos, this time of the reworked Trumpete canopy with Aires frame and my built up windscreen.
  5. Mike, Thanks for passing me on to Brian. I will check out his site. The A-7D and the A-7E wheels were very different. The brake stack is very visible through the wheel on the A-7D. I spent several hours filing them out with a tapered diamond file but the result was worth it. The details on the Pylons and MER are scratch built with the exception of the main beam on the MER and it is from Dave's Meteor Kit. The Pylon Sway Brace hardware is from Scale Hardware as is all other bolts, nuts and rivets; really great detail items highly recommended. I am using some Edurad's PE; mostly on the Speed Brake and the Avionics Bays and a few other pieces here and there thus far. I considered Eduard's cockpit set but the Aires Cockpit was too nice to pass up. The Aires Wheel Wells also eliminated the need for the Eduard's PE in those areas as well. I included a pic of the L/H Avionics Bay, Here the Eduard's PE is really great. I still have to do the wiring and plumbing. Barry
  6. Well I made the call. Started fairing the vent panels in fuselage nose and radome.
  7. Very nice work, you going to force me to purchase one. Keep it up and send more pics. Barry
  8. Good Review. Has anyone had any thoughts on the Vents on either side of the nose. The raised panels on the kit are not correct. I do believe however that that area around these should be raised to the level of the panels then faired into the nose. This will produce the pronounced tear drop shaped fairing on the actual aircraft required because of the Radar change and larger Radome on the E model. Does anyone a dimension on the diameter of the E model Radome? Barry
  9. I was with the 354th when we received the first A-10s. In fact I was a part of the accident investigation into the crash of one of the first two we received. I do not remember Brian by name but I know exactly who you are talking about and remember handling the aircraft he was flying several different times. His story was well known among members of the 354th. Sounds like he went on to have a great flying career. Wait, it just struck me where I have read his name recently on the SR-71 Book, Sled Driver. Let me know if I can be of any help when you start your build. Please say hello to Brian from a former member of the 354th AMS. Barry
  10. The "Green Demons" (353rd TFS) were one of the Squadrons assigned to the 354th TFW at Myrtle Beach SC. If your friend was assigned in the 1975 to 1977 time period it is quite possible that he and I met. Especially if he was deployed to Howard AFB in the Canal Zone during one of our TDYs there. During our TDY we were the air defence force for the USA in the Canal Zone with four A-7Ds. Not bad for a bunch of "SLUFs". Barry
  11. Here is the re-worked Trumpeter USN A-7 wheel to USAF A-7D type.
  12. There was a process covered in Fine Scale Modeler several years back using Marine Spar Varnish and SNJ powder. It produces a metal finish that you have to see to believe. You can polish it to a point that it rivals chrome and any where in between. The article was done by a modeler that has now passed away but his metal finishes were the best I have ever seen other than the real thing. I will see if I can did up the issue.
  13. "Out of my mind" in most quoted by several of my friends and family.
  14. LOX Bottle is scratched using the usual (see previous photo) and a glass craft bead
