  1. My guess is that is the wrong silhouette and it should be a P-51B/C.
  2. I can’t get the link to work for me unfortunately. Any ideas of an email address? Keen that they get this right and have done 3-D scans that should help!
  3. Does anyone have contact details for Red Pill Models?
  4. Interestingly they changed the formulation a while ago - the stuff from 20 years ago goes in much better
  5. Collect Aire made a very nice 1/48th one. It was mastered by Dmitri of Dmold
  6. The Tamiya 1/48 has the same set up. There is quite a bit of detail on the bottom of the tanks (no - I didn’t realise either until it was pointed out!)
  7. I understand that DBMK will have a 3D print of their DH103 Hornet on display at their stand and will also be announcing their next subject at 11am on the Saturday.
  8. I sold my Tamiya kits and like the Revell kit. My reasoning: I was going to add a Zoom instrument panel, Barracuda stencils and details so the inherent additional detail in the Tamiya kit was going to be wasted in any case The surface detail is so fine that it is difficult to reinstate once seams removed. I prefer consistency over super abundance of detail in some areas The superfine surface detail is at the level where manufacturing surface variation and deformation around rivets etc would be evident so I find it looks unnatural. Plus you cannot see it unless you are super close!
  9. I have the Paragon conversion but intend to mate it with the Tamiya Mk VIII or Mk IX. I appreciate that the cross section is slightly different but that is what a sanding stick is for! Has anyone tried this combo? Will
  10. I intend on using Ali’s set on the Revell RF-4 to correct the proportions and the windscreen. Will
  11. The DBMK kit is from factory drawings that have been worked over for 20+ years by Arthur Bentley to create a CAD model. They have been independently verified as being correct (as far as is possible) Arthur created the drawing used on the Flugwerke FW-190 and his work has been extensively published. He worked as a draughtsman for BAe at Hatfield. Will
  12. The DBMK kits is IM and will be of similar quality to the Armory Flycatcher, Wingsy Bf-109 and Dora Vengeance. DBMK’s number one priority is shape accuracy, number two is buildability. Will
  13. Time will tell - the key is break even number and cost. The reason that no P-51B/C has been made is that it has been announced by at least two manufacturers and Revell are likely to do it as a follow up to the D model. You would have to be very brave to sink your capital into something and then get pipped by another kit.
  14. The EF-111A set and FB-111A sets arrived last week. My initial thought on opening the boxes was quality. Great packaging, resin, 3-d printing, IM clear parts, 3-D decals, decent photoetch - basically a kit within a kit. I also picked up their CH-53 rotorhead which is also stunning. They seem to be pointing towards the future in terms of how to render detail. I hope they sell lots of them. Will
  15. In a move of unrivalled brilliance I have lost part 48 from the Hasegawa 1/32 Hellcat. This is the piece that connects the engine to the bulkhead and includes the exhaust pipes. I plan on scratchbuilding the replacement but need to know the dimensions of the central piece that sets the dimension of how far forward the engine sits.
  16. I have heard that someone is planning on scanning the Navy Wings airframe when it is back at Yeovilton for a large scale kit.
  17. There is a Haynes manual just on the Saturn V - well worth it.
  18. That sadly is wrong - the fuselage sides are vertical rather than sloping inwards as you go down to the wing. I am planning this conversion as well a Mk XII using the Paragon nose that I have and a Mk IX. The only thing to work out is whether to Cut and Shut or sand to the correct cross section. As Radu said in another thread if you can handle the original conversion this should not be too hard
  19. Seconded on the P-51B clear parts - an excellent addition! Thanks you for bringing these out. Will
  20. This is great news - 25 years since the Tamiya kits hit the market. I will be in for at least 5 - B,C,E, M, RF
  21. Thanks - will need to find a printer for the smaller stuff.
  22. I bought this kit last year and it is in the to do pile. Not a bad effort from Hasegawa for the 1970s and then the ‘87 upgrade. This is an inspiring build and reading through there is much to absorb. My kit decals are shot amd I was planning on using masks (I have a Cricut) but was interested to know what you were planning for the smaller markings? Will
