Annnnnd the Hunter just landed! Another kit of excellence from Revell! 
 
I believe the bulk of the airframe from wing back is of the original Hunters and the twin seat parts are on three new frames (one being canopy parts) and a crate of 2 x 3d print ejector seat pull rings.
 
Very nice indeed, and a lot of kit for £42.

Finally, after many weeks too many, I did get this beast completed. My very first 3d-printed model! I did rush a bit towards the end, as I had so much day work on I had to pinch time wherever I could. I will likely revisit it and tidy up the wonky paint, but here it is for now. A couple of updates and modifications of the final filesets were made post assembly that are now tested and eases buiding and painting.
Originally painted with MRP paints, I simply didn't like the colour of their green when given a final matt coat, so I stripped the lot back and used Hataka Orange Line paints.

To my mind, any limited edition really ought to be advertised as "Limited Edition of X quantity", with X being the actual number. If it is not so, then it cannot be 'Limited' in the true spirit of the word.
As before, I bought mine as I like everything about the kit - and the figurine helped, I admit, but I am not a collector. Those that are, rightly, may not be impressed to now find out their 'collectible limited' isn't... 
 
Revell covered the 'Limited' aspect with their new (outstanding!!!) Meteor 1st Edition, by clearly stating there would be only 3000 copies. 

Being blunt, that's a turn off. I am not a fan of reading instructions on a screen, or having to print them out.

Totally get that, I'm much the same. We can see where we are with page count on the manual further down the road.

Exactly, the round holes at the end of the triangular shapes are threaded to receive the bolts going through the circular tubing frame …
The two black angled boxes are the scintilla magnetos, one (the right, IIRC) feeding the rear ignition ring (between the intake manifolds and the cylinders) with cales going to the rear spark plugs. The other magneto feeds the front ignition ring, with cables going to the front spark plugs.
The bottom black «  thing » on the picture is the carburetor. The R-985 typically had a Stromberg carburetor (the one on the pic does not seem to be a Stromberg).

With a trailer tank it will be even more of a brute. Twin rigs really were the best of them! 
 
Seeing these shots on computer screen rather than mobile device has made remedial work essential though. That'll teach me to leave well alone when tired.
 
The good news is PHD Designs have plenty more ground equipment designs that will be getting some 32nd attention. 
I have the Schopf F59 mini-tug on the remaining bench space ongoing and will update that one shortly.

There is a definite dearth of this sort of ground support equipment. 
This will look fabulous next to a 1/32nd scale aircraft and is just the ticket.

If you have two you build the one in the less well preserved box, so that the remaining mint "collectable" item retains its scarcity value — except that this isn't any longer a collectable, as it's limited only by an unspecified number of polyurethane mouldings. Superficially it's a regular Joe kinda kit like the Tamiya Spitty — pile 'em high, but sell 'em a bit cheaper as they lack the infernal engines and magnets. 
 
I'd be interested to know whether the Brian Lane parts were ordered in one batch or whether production is, in fact, on a drip feed and theoretically limitless. Is the number dictated by the quantity of Brian Lane heads, arms and torsos in a box at Kōtare, the moulds now destroyed, or is the limited edition an abstract number on a piece of paper that won't be disclosed as it's proprietary information and "fluctuates" according to what the market indicates. 
 
The key takeaway here is that Kōtare are not making Wing nut Wings type collectables (there are no teddy bears for a start), and so the models should not be treated as anything other than nice kits to be built, just like a Tamiya. And I'm okay with that as an occasional buyer, but there are others getting every release who may be confused by the fluctuating form of limited edition. 
 
I do wish Kōtare well, and love their products, but will continue to be picky about which ones I buy.

I’m not at all sure that’s true Matt. The masters were done by Brian Fawcett; the Revell kit was a car-door and the MDC a bubble top which includes the larger empennage. I have built both kits and the difference between them is so marked in so many areas especially the cockpit and undercarriage that I can’t see Brian wasting his time using the Revell kit as a starting point. It’s much more likely that he used the Bentley drawings.
