  1. I'm not jumping down the 1/35th rabbit hole. Count me out.
  2. I have the 1/16 Vert. The vent windows on the doors are a bit wonky but its a buildable kit.
  3. K2, I am a little late to the game. This year I will donate a 1/32 Special Hobby P-36A "Pearl Harbour Defender" Edit: I do not want to be in the raffle itself, only a donor. Thx
  4. The dark metal you circle in green is stainless steel. Its to protect the skin of the fuse from the hot exhaust pipes going back to the turbo (black thingy in the right side of the green circle) is the turbo and the area the exhaust exits the plane. The area with the stains (red arrow) normally isn't the exhaust on a war time P-47. That is the waste gate for the turbo. Most restored P-47s have the turbo's removed for simplicity so the original waste gate is used as an exhaust exit.
  5. The real deal is made in two halves and has a seem down the middle so I am not understanding why a one piece fuse is the right approach to a 109.
  6. I stumbled onto this today. Pretty neat stuff.
  7. The back of the cab should be a perfect 90 deg to the top of the chassis. The running boards should be parrellel to the top of the chassis. I don't think that's warping, I think the front of the cab is interfering with front of the chassis, lifting it up.
  8. I'd suggest just carving one out of some sprue. It's a pretty basic shape to carve.
  9. I enjoyed this. Seems like this was a solid, well designed plane to fly.
  10. This does not violate any rules here. 100% supported I Subscribed.
  11. I've been modeling for about 50 years now. I've never been a member of IPMS.... I model for my own enjoyment, I've never been entered into a contest nor interested in doing so. That's just me. I do enjoy the on line community a lot, I guess that's how I ended up on staff here??? To be clear I am not knocking IPMS at all, each to their own I guess.
  12. There is also the AMT/ERTL 1/72 kit if you can find one.
  13. That looks like beryllium copper to me. It has excellent heat conductivity properties, strength, anti galling and anti-corrosion properties and very machinable. Highly carcinogenic if it's dust is inhaled when machining.
  14. Thanks Troy, very much appreciated. Ron
  15. To the best of my knowledge it does not exist as a PR Mk IV but I could be wrong. I don't think it would be hard to make one out of the kit??
  16. Well might as well post the fifth and last of the series so far.
  17. I am of the firm belief that anti slip texture in our scale can't be modeled. I just paint in a flat.
