Nice problem-solving and execution. Good work on the windshield master, a complicated shape, and pull. Good luck with the hatch.

Mark

Good show. Nice work. I like the contrast between the skin and hatches.
'unfortunately, . . . all this will be painted'
Maybe so, but this model is going to be an outstanding piece in the end.

'the filler was used on the leading edge (posted under fair use) and as can be seen, it does not extend to the wingtip so that panel was left detailed..'
AirCorps, from Page 44, shows otherwise.
Nice butt joint.
Good show, Peter.

'I don't really know what the little slots are for'
I believe they are for ammunition belt links.
Of all of the imagery I have studied, I don't recall seeing that return. Not only that, but in the next 2 photos,
The dip in the ribbing makes an angle going backward,
that is matched up to the angle of the skin.
Good show, Peter. Nice capture.

Great show.
'Now I know what you might be thinking - there is an honor associated with scratch building, and this is not scratch building.'
I must apologize, Jay. I disagree. It's a new tool in the scratchbuilders' vocabulary.

This is just the greatest, Peter. Brings back rewarding problem-solving memories of the Tamiya kit for me. Thank you.
By way of P-51B/C Manuals. I have a full set. Thank you.

Welcome to the 'Plumbing a P-51 Wheel Well' Club. Ha, ha, ha.
I really like that tie wire you ran from bolt to bolt on the black box.

That framing is sexy as all get out. I like the hell out of this.
Why are there no returns on the two outboard frames?
Thank you.

Fan-dam-tastic. I love this!
'I had to cut a hole in the well roof . . . '
Yes you did. I know that well from the 'D' I built.
What are the projections to the right? I don't recognize them from the Parts List I used for my build. Are they line stand-offs? I see a bit of clean-up is necessary.
Great show, Peter.

That and the wheel well(s), Brother.
This is truly inspirational, Peter.

You can also run the slot to the edge, slide one side out, roll the jig onto its'side, and work on one side at a time. Just sayin'.
Nicely done, Peter. Great details.
rtwpsom2, great knowledge base. It's always enjoyable making minute discoveries such as you've conveyed.

This all looks great fun, Peter. I have to make up my mind about this.
Love that fuel line layout. It reminds me of the illustrations in the Mustang Parts Catalog.
Great show.

'I work for Aircorps doing CAD, these are the models we used to build Lope's Hope.'
Quietly understated. Along the lines of: That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

I'm reworking a gutter which requires additional flashing. My research brought me here:

for this:
My curiosity brought me here:
https://www.homedepot.com/s/aluminum%2520flashing?NCNI-5
for this:
.0092 thick aluminum sheet. 10 inches x 10 ft. Under 10$US. Comes in larger sizes. I thought it may be of economical interest.

Nice results.
The fuel selector has engraved copy. How is that going to relate with the decals?
Not to sound like a hound dog, but the opening is off-center. I don't know if that matters or not.
69 all the time. Heh, heh.
That symbol and copy is nice. No anti-skid tracks?
Good show, Peter.

An alternative to shot are micro solder balls:
They come in various sizes. I use .3 to .7 At 1/18th scale I can't imagine the size you require. Maybe even a BB.
