  1. Some more AM that means hacking into plastic. Not all the resin will be used apart from the fact I am only doing half an aircraft. The fuel fillers can be used but the life raft did not have an external access on the early 111P: The wing fuel tanks require removal of some substantial lower wing area. The bomb bay structure has been marked for removal as per the HPH/Eduard requirements: The engine nacelle has been completed and the QB Resin exhausts cut from their moulding blocks and test fitted: Finally the seams on the fuselage to inner wing join are quite good: I may have made a rod for my back in not installing the tanks and filler prior to joining the wing fuselage but we shall see. Regards,
  2. I think that generally, the shoulder harness on the 110 did not go through the seat but simply draped over the top of the seat, connected to the restraint about midway behind the seat. Having said that, they can go through the seat and then up over the pilot’s shoulders. If you simply drape them upwards and outwards over the corners of the seat before coming folding them over and back down it should resolve the length issue. I will try and find a photo or diagram that I am sure I have but in the meantime maybe someone can offer an alternative. Regards,
  3. The Tamiya Mk. XVI that just laughs at me from the shelf of procrastination.... May 2017! It was so far back I hadn’t migrated the photos from PB to Postimage. I had to get that shot from my cloud! Regards,
  4. So the filling and sanding got pushed back for some gluing and clamping. The port wing is on with minimal seams to be tidied up. The fuselage suffered a little warp on the long axis around the gondola, so it was glue a little, clamp and dry. Glue some more, clamp and dry. It is a test to follow instructions when looking at three sets of instructions so a little care is needed: Only using half the kit means thee are lots of surplus parts, in need of a suitable storage place: The trusty stand is out and only just accommodates the build: My plan is to work on as much of the externals as possible, up to painting, before concentrating on the internals. There really isn’t much to the outside as the focus is the internal. Of course, plans may change. Regards,
  5. Here are the opening sequence photos. The kit has been removed from the Revell side opening box and placed in a plastic tub. The HPH conversion comes in a sturdy cardboard box: The first thing will be to remove all the moulded detail from the fuselage interior and fill/sand the multitude of ejector pin marks: The lower fuselage insert must then be cut in half. I marked the line in pencil, scored it with a scribe and then carefully and slowly cut it with an RB “coarse” blade between the bomb doors. Some deep breaths and the occasional held breath, I was left with this: Regards,
  6. That’s a bit nice! Well done on the masking. Regards,
  7. That is coming along very nicely. I read somewhere that if you leave the PE buckles attached to the frets and thread the belts before removing them makes it easier to construct the harness. Yet to be personally tested but seems logical. Regards,
  8. Is it almost June already?! I think I have cleared the decks sufficiently to start working on this project. For those of you unfamiliar with the conversion, here is a link to the HPH instructions in PDF format: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B02eBUTK16wGQTk2b0draTkybjQ/view The donor kit is the Revell He 111P-1 kit (04696) which will require a bit of pre surgery to make it ready for the conversion. A scan be found here: I have listed the projects on Scalemates and here again is the link to see what goodies in the way of AM I have accumulated: https://www.scalemates.com/profiles/mate.php?id=41942&p=projects&project=49415 I have also amassed some research material (digital and print) and I have added to my Scalemates project list. Regards,
  9. Welcome aboard! It depends on what piques your interest. Every manufacturer has their vices and strong points and Tamiya do make a lovely range of WWII aircraft. I would establish what period you wish to build from and have a look around here for leads. You mentioned you have some WNW kits so you have an eye for talent in the WWI field. I personally like Eduard kits although they can require some basic modelling skills to tackle. I also have a Zoukei Moura and a couple of Dragon LSP. You mentioned you have a couple of 1/48 kits, maybe pick up a couple of late release kits like, Eduard’s new Fw 190, the Airfix Sea Fury or Tamiya Spitfire to cut your teeth on? Whatever you decide relax and enjoy!
  10. Great work John, Its also great to see the level of assistance from other members, particularly Vincent and what a great effort from Damien with the ejector fittings. Regards,
  11. Many thanks, Decalling has commenced. I am using the Ronin Decals RDS-152 set and the scheme is “101”: The decals are really thin and conform well to a gloss surface, however, I had a disaster with one of the “101” fuselage markings and lost it. Operator error all the way (read the decal instructions and avoid setting solutions - water is fine) and my cry for help was answered so the main markings should be complete by the weekend. My only gripe is the opacity is such that the invasion stripes show through the wing upper decals. A lesson for young modellers there. The rocket markings are the kit decals. I will reapply MRP Sky to the mountings before a gloss coat seal: I fixed a small blemish just behind the canopy. Not sure if I have done enough: The more astute of you may have noticed the underwing lights should have had “Hawker Yellow” inners and not invasion stripe. Well done but it is on the underside so it stays. Regards
  12. Thanks guys, Here is the state of play: Many thanks,
  13. Great topic John I will point you to Thierry’s tweak list for the 109K here on LSP for some background: https://www.largescaleplanes.com/Marketplace/Tweaks/HasegawaMe109-K4.php although you seem to have most of it covered! Regards,
  14. They are a commercially available item from Propblur, have a look http://www.propblur.com/store/c1/PropBlur.comMain Regards,
  15. Here are a couple of in progress shots of my 1/48 Sea Fury for the 2019 Airfix Cup at the NSW Scale Model show on 18/19 May 2019 at the Illawarra Sports Stadium. It is posed in flight with an Aerocraft cowling and a set of Propblur blades: I used MRP paints (Sky and EDSG) for the first time and happy with the result. The pilot is from the spares box (Airfix Hurricane ?) and the gunsight from an Eduard Spitfire Mk. IX kit. Regards
  16. Fan-bloody-tastic Brian, Am I allowed to say that? Too late! Read from start to now and just thrilled with the show. Well done and so many thanks for the lessons involved. Regards,
  17. It really doesn’t get much better than this. Great job John. Regards,
  18. Brilliant updates Eric, True excellence on show. Regards,
  19. Hi Erwin, I built this scheme in 1/48 a couple of years ago. From memory I think it was cobbled together from a couple of crashed airframes. A couple of things to note from my research: Firstly, it had asymmetrical exhaust with six exhaust stubs on the outboard sides and five on the inner. It was never flyable and the props and spinners were not attached. The radio mast was omitted and no aerial wires. I’ll attach the link to my build photos: https://1drv.ms/f/s!Ap8f8sbydsX2wiyT963Xac8EpIDf If I can find the build log, I will attach that for reference: Regards,
  20. First let me say I am blown away by the depth and variety of the builds slated for this GB. The year long duration will fit nicely with my glacier speed build and I think I can actually finish this one on time! To be an honest, it is a little intimidating to be in such esteemed company. I have a number of suitable aircraft in the stash for the build but I am currently sorely limited in display space. Thus I have decided to enter my Revell He 111P coupled with the HPH cutaway conversion, the best of both worlds! Neither has been commenced and I will post some photos shortly. Not content with sawing the kit in half, I have also thrown in the Eduard BIGED set, some CMK, some HGW, and some Profimodeller sets to raise the angst level. The project list is here at my Scalemates database: https://www.scalemates.com/profiles/mate.php?id=41942&p=projects&project=49415 I plan to finish a couple of small jobs (1/48 Airfix Sea Fury) and actually commence in February. Thanks to LSP, the sponsors and most of all to you my fellow, builders, assemblers and master craftsmen of scale modelling. Regards,
  21. Email notification that my package from Hearn’s Hobbies is on the way. Expected at my door by 27th.
  22. I just got an email from Hearn’s Hobbies in Melbourne where I had mine on pre order for AUD$414.99. They indicated they expect shipment to arrive early next week and asked we pay the remainder by the 19th. They are honouring the pre order price so for another AUD$355.00 it will be in my clutches by Xmas one expects. A little bit excited...... Regards,
  23. Words fail me. Spectacular doesn’t begin to cover the build techniques, results and knowledge you’ve shared with us. Thanks.
