Mate, I so wish I knew. I don't even know what would be a suitable catalyst for Alclad TBH
I just finished spraying the wings and they are looking awesome

This time around, I will clear coat them before I even think about masking

Strange. Lacquer paint should have been rock hard after 5 days. And Tamiya tape should not have affected it!

Going through the kit, I saw three areas in need of attention:

The main gear bays, the engine intake, and the instrument panel. Here is a better pic of the IP:

The detail is pretty faint. I doubt I could make it look good trying to paint it. I will remove most of the detail and add Aeroscale decals and whatever PE bezels best fit. I have collected them for years:

The engine intake is lacking details such as various boxes, piping, etc. I will add those, shouldn't be a problem.
As for the wheel wells, they are too shallow and no piping. I will add the hydraulics, but I am not going through the pain of deepening them. Too much work, plus that would cause problems with bottom of cockpit/exhaust pipe fit. As it is, I am going to have to do some carving and slicing to make them fit.

Nice! Are you going to leave the glass out of the cockpit like the studio model?

A shame you had to do that, but I'm sure 2.0 will indeed be better!

I found some citrus cleaner but it didn't work. Also, the tape has actually impressed itself into the paint. So, with that, I have done the only thing possible:

It's all good though. Version 2.0 will be better, smoother with a chance now to add some slight variation to the black

Make the most of this, I don't often do a vehicle!

Something that can be found almost anywhere the RAF (other British Services are available) has a presence is the ubiquitous Landrover.  It has/had many RAF uses and guises, from swift-response fire truck to general service vehicle.

Until the early 1970s airfield vehicles were painted yellow: then came the NATO "tone-down" where everything in sight was painted green.

So here's an Italeri Landrover LWB Series 3 soft-top, dated anytime from 1974 onwards, built from the Italeri kit.  It does not represent any specific vehicle, simply a generic "Landy", which allowed me to use one of the two sets of numberplates in the kit.  I freely admit I don't know the registration system, so it may well be an Army number as that's what the kit option was.  The "Royal Air Force" legend came from a spare aircraft decal sheet.  What's it used for?  Perhaps a general station "hack" vehicle.

Unfortunately, right at the last minute, I lost the passenger-side door mirror, so decided that the driver had "wiped it off", and has perhaps yet to confess his sins to SNCO i/c MT.

I will also confess to one more heresy: I may well stand it next to an appropriate 1/32 LSP in due course!  Anyway, here 'tis.

    Todays update.

A lot has happened in the last day or so.

Here are some photos of the cockpit and pilot. Pilot is a free download.

And a little paint. More work to follow.

I have finished basic construction and have begun painting. First a flat black base coat with some medium grey highlights.

Tomorrow I will begin the final white finish coat.

    This. 100%.
Contrary to what it seems some think, we are not out here arbitrarily locking threads because we don't agree with, or don't like  what's been talked about; that is not what we nor LSP is about.
Civil discussions are not just allowed, but encouraged.
As Ron said, it's when members start trading jabs, insults and telling others how to view the forums, that's when threads get shut down.
If you feel the need to go to a different forum, by all means, we have no issues with that what-so-ever. We are all adults here and free to come and go as we please.

LSP_Ray reacted to Out2gtcha in Why Keep Threads On Topic?
There are certain topics that seem to go sideways easier than most. As mods our desire and goal is to try and not close threads if at all possible. However, sometimes, to keep the peace of the site it is unfortunately necessary. That is not something we ever like or enjoy doing, but it is a part of the job.

Some discussions go around, and around and AROUND and then go around a few more dozen times it seems, and the ones that get locked usually by then have generally degraded into something not just off topic, but devolved into personal sniping or even attacks. This of course is not always the case, as there can be many factors involved, but please know its not something we like, or ever want to do, but is occasionally necessary.

I've been looking at those. I guess the Macross stuff had its 40th anniversary, so there is tons of stuff out there. It looks like the plastic model rights have changed hands 3 to 5 times?

The Hasegawa kits seem pretty reasonable too.

They seem to have many of the mechs Battletech used in the first few editions before they lost the rights to most of them. They had everything from Macross but the basic bad-guy stuff. I remember being really disappointed when the company that made Battletech lost those rights, and all my favorite mechs became hard to find. I still have a bunch. No more Mauraders or Warhammers!

I did the same, as well as pick up a set of the Border figures.
Here are the ones from the UK:

They are pretty nice, though my set is missing the hat that should be in the guy's hand top row, 2nd from left. My only quibble is that some of the faces are a little simplified, but they may look better under paint.
    Here are the Border figures:

They are very nice with a lot of surface texture that painting will really stand out, and good facial features. I did notice that some of figures are nearly identical in torso with different arm positions or details. But placed apart from each other they will work fine. The two sets should also work well together.

The one thing missing from the two sets are seated pilots! Strange, when they are obviously recreating the scene when the aircraft take off from the Akagi to hit Pearl Harbor. Good to see Albion Alloy is filling the void!

    Hi All!

Now, we can remove the lid and take a look on what´s in the box!

It´s a standard “Eduard/Special Hobby” sieze box and there´s plenty of room for the kit, not many parts here, really.

All parts comes in a single, large plastic bag, the clear parts are thankfully in their own, smaller plastic bag.
The instructions and decals also come in a separate plastic bag.

    Fuselage halves….

    The wings….

One large frame with tailplanes, nose wheel bay, engine parts and small detail parts…

One smaller frame with elevators, tanks, fins and pylons…

One small frame with smaller parts…

    One clear frame…

These are among the best clear parts I have ever seen!
No distortion, completely scratch free, very nice and WELL DONE, Fly!

A large, well printed decal sheet with decals for 4 interesting machines, 2 Swedish and 2 Austrian.

That little sheet to the right contains the instrument decals.

Very well printed decals, even if I can spot some spelling errors,

even the Swedish Crowns are looking good and usable, and look at the  badges!

    The little devil….

Finally, you´ll get a large bag with resin parts as cockpit, seat, wheel wells and wheels and some small detail parts.

Here are the parts cleaned up and removed from their plugs.

This is the aircraft I will build, Red Tore (Tango), s/n 29652, 1st Sqn. F9 (F6?).

I really like those black exercise markings!

    More to come soon!

    Hi fellow gb participants,

I plan on commencing this build imminently and face a few unusual, self imposed challenges.

Like many builds, Infinity encourage the builder to begin with the cockpit.
My first venture off piste is to model this as a museum exhibit but not a pristine, renovated example.
The Planes of Fame exhibit looks quite "tired" in most online images.
I can't help wondering how intact the cockpit is

For this group build entrant I'd like to allow myself a little latitude and not be too concerned with absolute accuracy.
I'd like it to be fun
To that end I'm hoping to display the model missing much of it's instrumentation and switchgear.
The yellowed main canopy will help disguise the mess if I stuff it up!

If anyone has any images of unrestored or dismantled I.P.s please add them to the thread to provide inspiration.

The Infinity instrument panels actually have deep relief and look really good.

For this experiment though it's a bit unhelpful.
I may try to scratch build a replacement so that I don't have to ruin the kit part by removing all of the lovely detail.

This is a quick and dirty proof of concept.

Now I just have to get my head around how to go about making it neat and tidy.
(This is where a flat etched panel would be ideal.)

After painting some detail, I assembled the engine.

I got a few tips from Dugy's Thunderbolt build! One of them was to lower the engine.

The other one was to cut up the drop tank mount in order to raise it a bit so the tank won't touch the floor.

I've also worked a bit with the landing gear and tank parts, preparing stuff for paint.

So now I got some painting and later assembly to do!

    Håkan
