  1. My computer/AV program is reporting the site is trying to access data on my computer. Then a window comes up and gives a message about how my MS Outlook contacts are set up. Apparently either they are trying to load info as to who is logging on to the site, or trying to push their info onto your computer's contact info, or their site has been hacked and the hacker is trying to mine for info.
  2. Hello Loic, you can get Tamiya sprues from Rainbow Ten in Japan: http://www.rainbowten.co.jp/ . Best to e-mail them about price and availability. I would guess about $20 for the engine sprues + shipping but I am only guessing. I have used this service before and it works great! Your engine looks like it would turn out pretty nice, too, if you decide not to get the Tamiya one. Depends on how much of the engine will be seen I would think. Great job on the engine you did, Manny!!
  3. Hello Jerry, Does Tom Tullis's profile of Oscar's "White 14" on your 'Air Aces Symposium 2001' poster still past muster, or has there been new info? That one is on my to-do list. Could Brian get there from here even though it is a A-7?
  4. There is some info in here: http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=19395 Personally, I like to re-create the artwork rather than just scan-upsize-print. You will always pick up artifacts and get some pixelization when you scan. If you create a vector-based drawing, you will get the cleanest looking decals. I use a CAD program, TurboCAD, for most of my decal work. Illustrator if very good also ( and I will probably switch to Illustrator almost exclusively once I take a class to figure out how to use it properly!!!). As far as printing, I use an ALPS with black & white graphics and with simple colors (red/blue/green/yellow). If the colors are light or complicated or the image is very complicated with multiple colors, I have gone to printing the color artwork with a laser printer and all whites and white undercoating with the ALPS. If you don't have an ALPS, you can either mask and paint the white, or use a white decal sheet to print onto. If you must use an inkjet, I have had success. In fact, my inkjet does a better job with color than my laser printer. The problem is the paper, which has to be able to absord inkject inks, is always thicker. You will also need to do some testing. Some brands of inkjet ink don't soak in too well with some of the inkjet decal papers. I have had good success with Papillo papers with my Epson, and success with a range of papers with an HP Colorsmart printer (but the colors aren't as good). Hope this helps.
  5. Turned out great, Matt!!! Congrats!
  6. Wow, a decal set Charles doesn't know about!!! Oh, wait, you want "D", not "G"? Darn, still haven't stumped Charles! The Montex Masks are very nice also, I have those as well.
  7. Go here: http://mysite.verizon.net/resqt29j/ From I have read, the rest of the kit isn't too bad...
  8. Looks really nice, whatever the errors!!!
  9. Definitely looking good!!1 really starting to take shape now. Keep up the good work!
  10. FYI: John "Tigger" Wilkes offers a vac Tunnan!
  11. Fotocut does not have a website. There is a price list here: http://www.largescaleplanes.com/lane/FOTOCUT/FOTOCUT.htm . It is a bit out-dated though. Best to get a hold of Fred, who is Fotocut. He goes by 'oletcherfred' here on the site (hope I got that spelling right)!
  12. A 1/32 resin DC-3??!?? Please PM me the number also!!!
  13. I'll take 3 sets, Harold!!! Also, I have some books on the Venom and Vampire, too!!! Must be time for another trip to Portland!!!
  14. One note on Rato's drawing: The drawings show the aerilon as being a bit longer than the kit. What is odd is the drawing shows this aerilon as stopping between two ribs. Structurally, that would be odd. The aerilon really should be tight between two ribs. At least, that would make for the strongest construction. I have no idea whether the drawing has the ribs incorrectly spaced or the aerilon drawn to the wrong size, but it would be something to look into before mimicing it on a model.
  15. It is a great build. I keep coming back to look at the weathering - awesome!
  16. The shots just out are from the Trumpeter stand at the Tokyo Hobby Show, which just started. Doesn't say when they will be available, though! BTW, Star Wars fans: a 1/48th scale Snow Speeder and a 1/72nd AT-AT were also shown!!!
  17. Wow, that cockpit looks fabulous!!! Great work!
  18. Hmmm...like Dan I had always heard it was a quick ID marking for the Tokyo raids. I therefore assumed it was for other aircraft participating also, not just the Bunker Hill, but now that you mention it, I don't think I have ever seen pics or profiles of any other carrier group using them. Will have to check my references again on this one.
  19. All of the above!!! Need a new canopy, too. It's such a cool looking fighter, needs some TLC!!!
  20. Wow nice cockpit!! Much nicer than the standard kit one. Looking forward to seeing some paint on that one to reveal the detail.
  21. Thanks guys!!! Erwin, you are right!! It is a pretty darn easy kit to build, and the cockpit is really well done out of the box. The worst part was the cowling. The cowling doesn't match up to the rest of the fuselage very well, and the cowling front is a separate piece, so you have a joint going all the way around that weird shape to deal with. I almost just left it. After finishing this one, I went out and got the CJ-5 Nanchang - the Chinese updated trainer!!! It has a more typical radial engine front and is completely metal skinned, but it appears the cockpit is almost exactly the same. Actually I didn't buy it, one of my raffle tickets was drawn at the local model show, and that was one of the few 1/32nd kits that was available, so free is a very good price!!! A second winning raffle ticket scored me an Akatombo trainer - the same kit Erwin built - so I had a good day!!
