  1. I'm late to this, but brilliant work. Myself and my son are about to start a buddy build of 1/32 Tornados (he has the GR.1 I have the GR.4) and this will be an invaluable source of reference so thanks!
  2. Fantastic! Just what I needed. The harrier is complete now though... I was hoping it was under one of the intakes or somewhere discreet... not sure if I’ll go for surgery I’ll have to see. Thank you!
  3. I’m nearing completion of a gr.7 and plan a basic dio with it attached to a rather nice GPU I’ve got. Thing is I don’t know where the receptacle is on this aircraft and can’t find any pics. Anyone have any ideas? Much appreciated.
  4. No way sorry to hear that. Hard to spot defects like that till you’ve started, which can be years after purchase. Hope you beat it!
  5. Thanks for that, I’ll have a scout. My earlier searches came up blank. Left the Tamiya to dry overnight then gave it a scrub with some micro mesh. Tamiya paints I find very easy to airbrush but don’t half dry dusty. Coated with Alclad klear kote gloss. By the time I arrive back from my work trip next week should be ready for washed decals & final touch up. This arrived a couple of days ago. Going to source a base probably from Coastal Kits. Didn’t realise how much of this GPU was etch. I hate etch so this might not end well Ho hum.
  6. Coat of Mr Surfacer 1500 black because I thought I’d try it. All looked well so I applied Tamiya sky grey, but only then could I see a nasty ledge where the intakes join. I don’t think the black works in terms of spotting defects. That sorted, I re-did it then realised the flying leatherneck canopy masks didn’t do the inner yellowish frame on harrier canopies so did that manually. Any ideas for how to do the canopy detonation cord very gratefully received.
  7. Bit late in starting this thread but thought I’d record where I’m at so far. 100% o.o.b, with exception of some Airscale instrument decals purchased for the Italeri big Tornado I bought at the same time. The kit has gone together quite well, and I’m now at the painting stage. Observations: 1) The MFDs are powered up, as I will be adding a ground power cart. 2) I hate the kit ejection seat and PE straps, but couldn’t find a practical alternative so I’m stuck with them. Rubber tyres with no alternative plastic ones supplied. Yuk :-( 3) I haven’t photographed them yet but most of the weapons don’t fit. The fix points don’t match with the pylons at all. Not even the AIM9s which are pretty standard with the AV-8. I wanted a load out of AIM9s, AGM65 and 4xMk82 Snakeyes... now I know this probably doesn’t represent a real world RAF loadout but it’s my goto in DCS World (those who know, know!). 4) So far it looks like the fit of the whole wing piece is tight enough that I won’t have to glue it, hence I can go back and have a go at detailing the engine later. If anyone has any reference pics of the engine bay I’d be really grateful. Lots on the web of the Pegasus itself but not inside the aircraft. 5) From playing around it looks like the flaps might be posable down by about 15-20 degs but I’m not sure what 1st stage Harrier flap is. If it’s more than about 30 then I probably won’t be able to bodge it so I’ll have to do them retracted. pics of what I’ve done so far: 2x expensive plastic purchases. Harrier first on bench though First use of the Mr Surfacer Black as a primer. I like it. Tamiya used on top basic coat of a few different Alclads on the engine. Too subtle for these pics cockpit done. Eject handle done later with black acrylic pen seems to dry fit ok tamiya white over the black primer then Alcoa’s acqua gloss then Tamiya panel line accent. the HUD was extremely fiddly and tested all my fine motor skills! Sorry it’s not in focus Fuse sections assembled. Very very tight with the wheel bays jammed in as well. wing & flying surfaces on, playing with partially deployed flaps I had to sand the seam off on the main canopy. Tried and tried to polish it with the sanders & tamiya polishing compound, then remembered I still had some old Klear so dipped it. Night & day. Now I’m going to have to remove the front screen and dip that so they match! yep it looks like a Harrier. Nozzles painted & dry fitted. That’s 99% of the aircraft done. Relief I’m at the stage of a kit where I think it’s all going to come together!
  8. Quite superb! I now have this kit and am even more excited to crack on with it.
  9. Absolutely love this. Weathering and detail done brilliantly. Been seeking this kit myself for ages - I assume it's discontinued:-(
  10. That is quite stunning. How does one get their skills up to this level? Just awesome.
  11. Superb skills and the outdoor photos look very realistic. You’ve captured a real air of dirty menace of this bird- I can’t stop looking at it!
  12. Why thank you! Compared with some of the ridiculously high standards of artistry skill & patience on here I feel I make presentable toys!!
  13. plain old tamiya yellow. Given up on all other paints, they all gum up my airbrush!
  14. Project started in Spring lockdown, stalled all summer & autumn but completed in a flurry of activity in the last couple of weeks. Bare-bones w.i.p thread: T-28 Trojan Kitty Hawk 1/32 - Page 2 - Works in Progress - Large Scale Planes I'm not very good at knowing when to stop and take pictures but I'll try better next time! Extras used: Aero Bonus pilots, Airies Cockpit (in the yellow C), Aero bonus propeller sets x2 but used the lovely one-piece hubs only with the nice kit blades as I find two-piece hub assemblies don't clean up well. Magic Scale modelling light & sound kit in the B (turn the sound on if you watch the video). Kit decals. Thank you for looking and any critique is welcome.
  15. Close of play today: B is 99% finished for me, just the exhausts to paint not that you can see them but they’re currently red so that just annoys me. C is ready for decals & fiddly bits. I’ve spent so many years doing combat/camp schemes I’m really enjoying the bright trainer schemes. The wife approves too
  16. Thanks me too, but I also love the red & white but couldn’t decide hence having to get both!!
  17. Wash applied to the B. Wife walks past wincing “it always stresses me when you do that it looks like you’re ruining it it looked so nice before”... you and me both!! Yellow now on the C
  18. Decals on, another coat of gloss for a panel wash & hopefully exhaust staining tomorrow. Couple of tiny control surface bits to glue on the that’ll be the B done. Despite steel bb’s filling the cowls & nose wheel bay (muppet forgot the included weights), she’s a tail sitter. Must be the moment of all the electronics jammed into the rear fuse. Oh well.
  19. Agree 100%. Everything else is lovely, very nice moulding & detail but the implementation of the design means you need to be lucky building this kit. And there’s me with 2 of them !!!
  20. And here’s the B with basic painting before decals & fiddly bits. Going to be very light weathering on this maybe a panel wash & exhaust staining of course:
  21. Thanks Thor! I don’t know what happened with the cowls. I nearly abandoned trying to close them up on the B but managed to just with a lot of filler. Wanted the C closed up as well but it was even worse so I’ll have one cowl open. Here’s the C primed & pre-shaded. Going for a more used look on it and am going with the trainer yellow.
  22. Long gap due to losing motivation, but last couple of weeks have seen progress with the motorised B & the static C. What I’ve learned is a) I forgot I was doing a build thread so omitted some pics of stages b) this kit in places I found serious fit issues mainly around the cowls. It was all looking so good with the fuse fitting even with the aires pit but if this is the state of the Kitty Hawk art then it must be me! Anyway, some photos: here’s the B with a dry run of the electrics before sealing it up: then sealed: and here’s both side by side sealed up ready for priming.
  23. I thought you’d initially posted some photos of the original real aircraft for reference, then realised it must be the model! Absolutely superb. I’d love to know how you did the base as I could do with something similar.
