  1. I'd never in a million years dare tackle a job like that, or dream of doing a Lanc in such a scheme, but it looks amazing! So much more to look at than the old camo/black it really suits it. Beautifully built.
  2. Love those later model 109's and yours is brilliantly executed well done
  3. An infinite number of modellers with infinite time & WNW kits couldn't beat this I don't think. Stunning!
  4. I don't personally go for the novelty schemes as I just like operational looking hacks, but I can't stop looking at this one, it's gorgeous. The fact you actually made your own decals for this just ups the WOW! Congratulations on a real stunner.
  5. Next level modelling that is. Beautiful NMF - and I really like your cockpit solution. The final picture is my favourite, real impact.
  6. Just amazing. You WW1 guys use dark magic to do your art, I'm in awe. You've really painted life to those figures too and the base just tops it off
  7. Lovely Stringbag. In the first picture I feel like I'm at Yeovilton walking up to a real one
  8. Wow they are beautiful. Were you to ever do a pair of RAF Tornado pilots of that quality I'd probably build another two! I'll be ordering this guy anyway for my big Tamiya Viper
  9. Thanks Derek. From most of the pics I've seen would I be right then in that they frequently carry two of these ACMI pods? I've not seen any RAF examples with the AIM9's on. I'm not normally a princess over accuracy, but as there's not much hanging off these ships whatever is will stand out.
  10. Just my two pence worth. Been simming in one shape or form since they came out, and I'm a commercial pilot with some private aerobatic experience so I have views on the flight models in as much as types I've flown. I have DCS and MSFS. The latter completely blew me away with the graphics which as has already been stated are mind blowing. I can't really see how much better they can get on a flat screen as to me they are now photo realistic. However for me and many others the future has always been vr. This is available in both, but in my opinion works better in dcs, perhaps because the workload is easier with the graphics in dcs, then again dcs believe it or not in 2021 only uses a single CPU thread so until their much awaited engine rewrite, is cpu bound once you hit the sweet spot of RAM (32gb+) and gpu ( I have a RTX2080 which runs it very nicely). I mainly fly jets in multiplayer. You're right that you'll need a decent hotas to get the best out of it and I have the TM Warthog which I adore, but there are other popular and more expensive options! For me as a civvy pilot I spent the last year or so in the FA-18C just playing with carrier landings and air to air refuelling! That was game enough for me, but I now fly with some guys online and haven't looked back. That for me is what sets apart DCS from FS2020. Waiting on the wing station in formation with your buddies having taken on a tank of fuel watching them connect as the sun comes up on the way to a target in VR is something my inner 12yo still can't quite believe I'm able to do! I wouldn't write off the flight models either, obviously I can't comment on the mil stuff but I did fly several hundred hours in a Yak52 in real life and can say the DCS version is pretty darn good... though its potential for gameplay is limited unless you join a virtual aerobatic squadron of which there are a few. for what it's worth, I havent run FS2020 since... 2020 some time! When the PMDG 737 comes out I'll be all over that from a work perspective, but for me the detail, immersion & atmosphere of DCS is where its at for "playtime". Enjoy your new rig and gaming.
  11. many thanks. I don't suppose you or anyone else knows what's supposed to be on the wings and if there any a/m available for them?
  12. Hello, could you possibly let me know what it supplies for missiles on the wingtips? The revell publicity shot shows what look like AIM9s but all the photos I can see of real ones have what look like plain sticks (training missiles, or another type I don't know!) just budgeting for what extras I may need to shell out for! Many thanks
  13. Just ordered from Amazon one each for me and my son. £36.44 has to be worth a punt! Probably not arriving for a couple of weeks so looking forward to seeing what’s in the box. I hope someone does some decal options I think these look fantastic in grey
  14. Of course yes I’d be honoured, thank you!
  15. Wow what a work of art the detail on the insides is quite spectacular, as is the superb weathering.
  16. She’s finished now. Sorry I didn’t record the weathering steps but I did them then redid them so many times. Pics up on the other section but here’s essentially what she looks like:
  17. Build thread here: I’m declaring today. I lost my metal pitot (grrr) so the kit one is in kind of droopy while I wait for replacement from Poland! Also added an Eduard Litening pod, apart from that and the Quickboost seats it’s out of the box. I need a way of doing the det cord but am too scared to try by hand. Might try and find some decals for the seats as surprisingly kit didn’t have any. Hope some of my worse modelling sins aren’t too obvious! Natural light on the parking stand base
  18. Set the theme of the weathering now. First time experimenting with the Uschi spatter templates. Used a good few passes with different shades & hues then took it down to subtle with filters. I’ve lost the demarcation from the different panels but I can always “replace” a few panels with new ones... or maybe I won’t bother. It’s calmed down the panel line wash which I’d intended to as well. It’s quite subtle, and I may add a bit of grime too but it does show up closer
  19. I hear you, it does look quite contrasted but my inspiration was some of the older really knackered looking birds I’ve seen pictures of like the one below. Then again I’m doing the box art Danger Mouse which was more all over plain in comparison so I’m going for a kind of hybrid (accuracy be damned) but in any case it’s going to get quite a lot of weathering all over
  20. Big moment of nerves jangling - can she stand on her own 3 feet - and will the 60g of lead in the nose (as instructed) be enough? I know the stores aren’t on yet though but so far so good (wheels not glued so not straight/true yet)
  21. Going for the Cleared Hot look
  22. Thanks again Mark. Pin wash applied to everything and main gear legs attached. I’m always amazed at what seems like a scale change once all the detail pops out. I’ve heard people say the panel lines are very deep on this kit; they are in places but they really take an enamel wash nicely. Main gear is a strangely fragile looking join and I’m not brave enough to try it bearing its own weight yet. Off to work for a few days now.
  23. That’s a great build of one of my favourite jets. Didn’t know the Revell built up that well. Totally agree re the alclad gloss, I’ve had the exact same experience I think it needs about a year to cure which is ridiculous. I now use their Acqua-gloss which is lovely and cures overnight perfectly.
  24. Thanks again Mark. I’ve ordered a Litening Pod; would that go on the centre fuse pylon with the 4 GBUs or on one of the outer fuse pylons with a 3 bomb load? I’m going with the AIM-9s as for another £8.50 for the ASRAAMS it’s all starting to add up a bit!
