  1. Thanks Mike! The base is made of 3/4 thick Pine Wood 4 inches x 6 inches and I tinted it in black.
  2. Thanks Gazzas!!! Hey thank you Oldbaldguy!! I'm sure you are not that bad man you have way more experience than me if you never left!! Thanks! Don't know maybe I would suck at airbrush loll never tried.. HAHA!! Yes that's what I ment by brushed.. done with a brush.. haha!! Thanks mate!!
  3. Hi guys, So here is my 2nd build since I've come back to the hobby, my 1st Corona build loll I chose the Raptor because it's my favorite jet and I wanted to have one on my stash And I went with the Hasegawa because of the reviews I saw on the net. Altough it's just my 2nd serious build, I have to say this kit is absolutely unbelievable! The fit is absolutely great and it needed almost no filler at all, I was really impressed by the ingineering, really unbelievable!! The only down side are the decals, they were an absolute pain to apply and some are really not applied to my liking, don't know why because I did the same process that I did with my Revell and it turned out good on it so.. I even tried the Mr.Mark setter and softer but did not change a thing.. Maybe just a lack of experience here.. As for the paint, the camo was already a big challenge for me to do so I did not try to get the ''metallic sheen'' that the Raptors have, just did a matt coat after the paint job. I think it doesn't look that bad actually, I'm ok with it for a 2nd build.. I did all the camo free hand with no masking, I was absolutely terrified to do it that way but in the end I think it turned out not that bad!! It was not really that hard to do just need to be carefull and patient!! I went with the same kind of stand as my F-18, Easy to do and it does the job!! So that's it thanks for looking at it and as always I'm opened to any construtive comments guys!! Thanks!!! P.S. The next one is already on the bench, the GWH F-15 C, and I plan to paint it like the F-15 E because I absolutely love the E color!! I know it is not historicaly accurate but I don't think the Scale Modeling God will be that angry and also I have to put a pilot in it and one is enough of a job at this time in my modeling carreer
  4. Thank you man! Hope my next one will be as good or better and it's not just begginner's luck loll
  5. Thank you very much man!! I've watch a lot of stuff on the net to learn the ''new'' techniques (things have changed a lot in 20 years lol) and bought a lot of new tools like the extra thin cement, vallejo putty and micro set sol etc.. It makes it so much easyer and does an incredible difference with the old stuff I used to use it's mind blowing haha!! Took my time and the result is this fa-18 kind of proud of it for my first one Will the Raptor be as good? mmmmm not sure because of the damn paint but I'll try loll fingers crossed hahah
  6. Thank you Collin! Yes I made it and it is very simple! I made a sticker on Zazzle.com and bought it, then I put it on a pine wood base. Then I tinted it black. I bought 1/4 acrylic rods on Ebay, heated them to bend them, and insert them in the holes I did in the base and in the jet exhausts. I firmly glued some plastic tubes inside the model so the rods would go inside those and it would be solid enough to hold the jet. That`s it!
  7. OK thanks for the info! I think I will stick to brushing my models I just love to do it that way!
  8. Thank you!! Man your figure is absolutely stunning!!! OK so a lot of really thin layers is the key I get it! loll Is it hard to learn how to do a good job with an airbrush? Is it that much better than just hand brush it or is it just not worth it? I'm still not sure about buying one..
  9. OK thanks Kev no problem I tough it would go in the ''ready for inspection'' forum since it is completed.. sorry
  10. Hi guys, so I'm back in the hobby after about 20 years, unbelievable how the hobby have changed in those years can't believe it! There is an air force base near where I live so I see F/A-18 almost every day so I decided to go with the Revell 1/48 F-18 to start it off. I did not want to wheter it too mutch as I think the ''too pronunced panel wash'' makes it kind of cartoonish and unrealistic, so went with another technique. I also don't own an airbrush so I did the best I could with what I saw on the net and here is the result, the ones I did back in the days were nowhere near this one but still not as perfect as I would have liked so I have some questions: 1- What technique do you use to hand brush your models (For those who still do it lol) Primer or no primer, thin the paint a lot or not that much, what brush to use.. etc 2- Do you have some tricks or anything else that helps for filling, sanding, wheathering etc.. 3- I'm hopened to criticism so any tips or advice or anything on everything that could help would be much appreciated!! Thanks!!!!
