  1. Looks like the paint turned out pretty good to me, nice work. Seems you and I both had a big gap in updates lol
  2. Looking good! I dread ever having to paint a spinner, but yours is turning out nice with your cleanup.
  3. Well, only three weeks with no updates, but I have been doing work! Just not as much as I'd like to have. Fuselage is together, horizontal stabilizers on, spine on. I've concentrated on on the wheel wells primarily. Overall shot of progress (not glued together yet) Riveting and seam smoothing.....I hate riveting, I don't think I do a good job with it. Wheel wells. MRP Light Grey followed by some minor chipping done with Tamiya XF-4 and an oil wash for "dirt" And finally, oil coolers in progress. Comments, critiques, suggestions.....all are welcome! Brett
  4. Very nice work, clean rivets and all!
  5. That is a seriously impressive interior you’ve made.......wow! More please!
  6. Thanks Maru, the comments are appreciated! Nothing really interesting to show. The fuselage is together and seams are gone, rivets repopped. Spine is on on top, adding the panels to the nose (oh how I love Tamiya gaps, so perfect!) Working on the horizontal stabilizers this morning prior to errands, maybe some pictures later, just for over all progress
  7. That turned out great! Love the colors and the contrast with the grey.
  8. Hi Harald The interior is MRP Interior Dark Dull Green, #229. I believe it's only used in the early Corsairs, aka the Birdcage versions. Hope that helps. Brett
  9. Thanks! It's been fun so far.....now, where's some more Star Destroyer for us to oogle? Definitely agree, much better than I could have done with the included PE belts. Thanks Andy, it's appreciated! The two halves of the fuselage are together. I got a bit of work done on removing minor seams, as the Tamiya fit is about as dead on as you can get. There are some TINY rivets that I lost that I'm repunching as I can.....I really hate doing this as I never feel I do a good job. At least I'm not having to rescribe! I'll post more updates later this week. Wife's wrist surgery is tomorrow. Stainless steel plate to hold the wrist bones together while they heal. I offered to just make her a pirate; hook to replace the hand, eye patch and a really big hat (plus feather!), but all I got were squinty annoyed eyes!
  10. NICE work! Love seeing WW2 planes being built...following!
  11. Light progress this weekend, slightly busy with yard clean up for the third time (leaves).....and went and saw Terminator Dark Fate. Anyway, seat belts are done'ish......they're still floating a bit, so I need to get them down further into the seat. I've also started attaching everything to the starboard fuselage permanently. I should have everything buttoned up in the next few days (depending on how the wife's wrist surgery goes. Did some test sprays/comparisons. Mission Models on the left, MRP on the right. The grey blue from MRP is much too dark in my opinion, and Mission Models grey, too dark. So, MMP grey blue, MRP grey, at least till something else shows up that looks better. Comments welcome as always!
  12. Not presumptuous at all Mike, we're all here to share and learn! I did pretty much what Mike said, especially after I launched a PE piece off my tweezers and spent an hour searching for it. Definitely easier and more controlled to keep them on the fret and thread the belts that way. I'm not sure if I balled up the belts enough to really give them that fabric look, as they're still a bit stiff. I also used gel CA in tiny amounts, applied with a tooth pick. Doesn't seem to have had any adverse effect so far, though I have seen many more mentions of white glue used. Here's how they look currently after an oil wash with raw umber.
  13. Very cool looking build and nice to see something completely different!
  14. Excellent work on the engine, it's brilliant looking!
  15. Thanks! Paint brush, dunno there.....airbrush and tape....I'm good! Work on the HGW seatbelts. They still need to have their gloss coat + matte coat + wash, but.....they're together! Getting there, piece by piece!
  16. Thanks everyone, the comments are appreciated! Another good note, the post just delivered some HGW seatbelts.....maybe I can get fuselage together in the next few days
  17. Thanks Dennis. We have our follow up later this week. Hopefully just a cast to keep things in place, we shall see though!
  18. A little bit of progress today. Just worked on the cowling, armored glass and gunsight. Nothing big, but at least a step forward.
  19. Thanks everyone, I appreciate it. Definitely feel the headrest looks better with the stretched sprue added as well. Plus, it looks better than the rectangular headrest, IMHO. Progress may slow even more now. My wife found a much faster route down the stairs yesterday and broke her wrist, so bench time may be limited to short spurts. She may need surgery to repair, so time spent away from the bench (and work) will be at an ortho surgeon's office! For now, I've started on the glass on the instrument cowl as well as painting it with MM Interior Black. Montex masks made short work of protecting the clear areas and were much nicer than cutting out the Tamiya masks. I plan to also spray some Tamiya NATO black to replicate the rubber bumper edge that I see in pictures...... Pictures.....tomorrow? We'll see! Hopefully some time to spend in the hobby room!
  20. Good thing no one has noticed that I put some decals on upside down....or zoomed in Random update, decided I would replace the headrest.....added the beading around the front and back of the headrest using stretched sprue. I think it's not bad...but let me know what you think!
