PHBIO got a reaction from Uncarina in Laminar Flow Design + Tamiya = Spitfire XIVe
Hello. I just received my set (it's really high quality set). I follow your wondeful built. Your choice is original but not easy because AE-K letters included in DKdecals sheets 48053 seems bigger than standard size . I can't find photos of this plane. DKdecals have probably data but is DK decals still alive ?....

PHBIO got a reaction from JefH in Tamiya Spitfire XVIe 443 Hornet Sqn RCAF
Hi Jef you are right about math. PLusmodel too for 1/35 vehicules. I am sure that 1/32 Willis and kubelwagen will be best sellers for brands that will take the risk.

Thanks for the comments and input.
J.J - Thanks for catching the flap indicator screw up. I will add it to the to do list.
PHBIO - I was of the mind that the scale difference between 1/32 & 1/35 would be fairly negligible. Once more math decided to disagree with my better judgement. I believe the jeep will be about 9mm under scale. I have to decide if this is something that'll bother me or not. IBG out of Poland has made a lot of interesting vehicles that are very aircraft dio friendly (Bedford fuel bowser in particular). It does seem like a missed opportunity that they're in 1/35.

Very nice and réalistic build. Scale difference between 1/32 and 1/35 stop me for dioramas. Will brands offer some 1/32 scale vehicles (only Jeep Willis and Kubelwagen for example) ?

PHBIO reacted to Dpgsbody55 in Kotare Models - a New Venture from Former Wingnut Wings Staff
Kotare need a couple of money spinners to generate some cash, so I get the Spitfire MkI as a launch choice, as well as the MkII and V versions that will reportedly follow.
It looks like the German single engine fighters are well covered, or about to be so, so why compete in that space?? But there's a heap of WW2 fighters not catered for at present, starting with a P-51B/C, razorback and bubble top P-47 and a -3 Hellcat. (Yes, I have the Airfix Hellcat -5 in my stash). There is also no decent P-40E or later, and yes, I'm ignoring Trumpeter's recent P-40's which I don't regard as decent. I haven't seen the old Hasegawa kit on the shelves at any local hobby shops in a long time. And New Zealand had quite a lot of P-40's on strength, so a good tribute to their military. And would someone please do a correctly shaped P-39 or P-63, please?? How about a Griffon Spitfire MkXIV (high back, of course)? Someone mentioned a Lysander, which I think is a great choice too.
Next, there's a few Japanese planes they could tackle, as well as Italian and Russian fighters MIA.
Then we get into the twins. A Beaufighter or P-38 anyone? Two glaring omissions right now, and yes again, I'm ignoring Trumpeter's P-38.
There's so many options for them, really, and if they want cash generators, a P-51B/C and P-40E to N would be the first I'd tackle were I in their shoes.
Cheers,
Michael

PHBIO reacted to Super B in Kotare Models - a New Venture from Former Wingnut Wings Staff
You know, nobody, NOBODY does a modern kit of the F6F Hellcat with accurate outlines! I asked myself, how hard can it be to turn the handsome F6F into a clown car? Well, Trumpeter managed to do it. And the Hasegawa kit was tooled when NIXON was president. It is as old as me. Damn..............Anyhow, there is a huge hole in the market.

...Oh and of course a 1/32 P-38 to the standards we anticipate from this team surely could not miss?

You know...you're right Rick. Good call.
Spectacular callout Super B! You honestly made me snort tea with the Nixon comment. But you are correct, the Hasegawa kit is old, good for its time but old.

PHBIO got a reaction from Archimedes in Border 1/35 Kate
Personally I'll boycot this scale. There is no logical reason to propose another large scale. There are few new lsp projects and display consistency is preferable. For the dioramas we just need some popular 1/32 vehicles like jeep willis, kubelwagen, dodge ....

Hello, really fantastic and realistic work, like your 1/32 P47. Maybe it's my screen, but the blue color of the us insigna borders seems strange for me.
