I think they overegged the marketing, leading to something between flatulence and disappointment.
Really lovely box art. I would buy it if 1:32, but it's in 1:24 Truckers' scale. 
 
Am hoping they'll re-release the 1:48 Buccaneer with some canned sunshine options like the WE-177 or its predecessor. With or without a coin saying "bang!"

Airfix is getting a hell of a blowing up over on Britmodeller Rumourmonger forum. I'm a little surprised at that TBH.

Nice to see the 73 Sqn late-war option, but as I've already done the Tamiya 1/32 as "R" of that fine unit, I'll pass. Those who do indulge, enjoy!

Wouldn't mind trying some of that Spitfire Ale by Shepard's Neem. I have no idea how I'd get any over to the states. From what I've heard they make 2 kinds of ale and a lager[ anybody tried it?]. Airfix could be taking a bit of chance with this release . All some aftermarket company would have to do is come out with some kegs.

I've got one on pre-order!

I've got another Mk.IX in my stash, yet this is tempting.  Can you have too many Spitfires?

This is not an exciting release, I did not know it was difficult to get the Mk IX but this is just a rerelease with beer kegs.  The only way you are getting me excited about this is if it comes with some good beer.  

Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel.
 
A PR 9 would have been nice however it's a great kit but not worth a second purchase for the sake of a couple of after-market parts.

I did try to point to some chap that Airfix do have the odd other model outside of Spitfires, but he wasn’t having it.

To me Airfix promised big and delivered small.  But that is fine, I am not put off by it.  It sounds like some are but it looks to me like they over promised.  

I bought a Mk IX to build a beer truck for a friend’s man cave. I never found good barrels. Now I can get everything in one box. Maybe use the engine from the first kit for a tractor puller…or a Blower Bentley. 👍🏻

It's Shepherd and Neame who have also come out with some very funny advertising such as "Bottle of Britain" and "Downed all over Kent, just like the Luftwaffe".
 
It's not a bad drop having tested it many times. There are better beers such as Tim Taylor's "Landlord" which is said to be a favourite of an American songstress that we know as "Madge". The cousins call her "Madonna" and she owned a pub in London close to where I worked.

Personally, all the varieties of Spitfire beer are a favourite of mine, and you can get some great looking beer glasses to go with it too. Prefer those to the Airfix glass - sorry Airfix.

I'd like to find a way to get some shipped over here to the states, but I don't want run afoul with "bootlegging" rules! I don't need it THAT bad.
