  1. Thanks Ryan. I'm going to have to do this on my laptop as my phone only shows the share and email links on that very screen you captured. I may buy a cheaper digital camera as well to use for the pics and just go entirely on my laptop. This phone is not cooperating in any way on this! Thanks for everyone's help, building models I'm good at, technology, not so much. Lol
  2. Sorry about the delay guys and gals. Due to the holidays, my work/travel schedule has been relentless. First day off I plan on getting my photo sharing down and for work to commence on the plane. I am still waiting on my Master Details box to arrive but I dont need those components yet so it wont delay the start of the kit. Also, I know the model and most of the aftermarket has already been reviewed but if anyone wants a specific review of anything, let me know and I will do a thread on the review side of the house. Thanks for your patience, things will get moving very shortly, I promise! Erik
  3. I'm still trying to work out the bugs on downloading photos. Dennis' instructions were spot on but most pics wouldn't take but those two. Time to break out the laptop and get this going.
  4. Getting the hang of it. The Big Ed set number one and its contents on top. Below are 4 sets of Aerobonus ww2 fire extinguishers, the R2D pilot seats and one pack of the Master Details ammo belts.
  5. Dennis, since your on Flickr as well, can you give me instructions on how to upload into the forums. I downloaded photos into Flickr, tried to attach a URL and nothing happened. I'm pretty much using my phone for this and it's a Galaxy 8 if that helps. Thanks and sorry for the lack of technical knowledge.
  6. I'm in Flickr. Had a Yahoo mail account anyway, that was easy. I used photobucket the first time I was a member of the forums. I didnt know it became a pay site. Wasn't expensive but I went with free.
  7. Ok, Kev, can you refresh me on how to download photos. I dont have any photo sharing accounts anymore. Do I need one? I have most of the model and accessories here in hand now and would like to start putting up pics. Thanks in advance
  8. Small update. As I was going through my stash box of aftermarket, it would appear that I have the landing flap set still unused and undamaged. I thought they were in the old model box and tossed. The temptation may be too great to drop the flaps now.
  9. Dennis, good luck on your move! I'm really looking forward to this second build. I hope I do it justice!
  10. Just picked up the first package. The model and most of the detail parts are being picked up today! It trickling in slowly.
  11. Yes Kev, I believe it was b17buff. I wanted to rejoin because I enjoy the site anyway but the conversations and motivation to keep going from other modelers helps alot on 'long haul' projects such as this.
  12. Greetings all! I am not exactly new to the forums as I had an account many moons ago. I was constructing a hyper detailed 32 scale B-17G. I wont bore everyone but life really dealt me bad hand after bad hand for 4 years straight and I am now just getting back into normality and modelling full swing. Unfortunately, the model featured on that thread was never completed and was irreparably destroyed in the 4 moves I made during my 4 year absence. So, hence the title. I now have the re release of the G kit and all the goodies enroute. The previous B-17G didnt die in vein as I learned alot from that build and will take those lessons learned into this build. A small list of what's to come.. 1. Internal lighting: I have micro LEDs in an off white/yellowish tint to imitate the actual cabin lighting on the real AC. This will, hopefully, allow all that detail to show through nicely. However, I do not plan to do exterior lighting (i.e. landing lights, formations lights etc.) I just want the insides glowing! 2. Chin turret: the Eduard cover plate will NOT be used this time around. I now have plenty of references on the real deal to scratch build an accurate chin turret and its mechanisms. The floor under the bombardier chair will be clear styrene. I am also working out a way for the turret itself to be removable so the guts can be shown off. Also with the lighting and clear floor, I'm hoping it can be seen decently enough while in the AC as well. 3. Actual construction sequence: what do I mean by that? Well, I had a bad habit of doing one compartment complete at a time. This made for tons of unnecessary work and masking and seriously jeopardized previously finished sections. More on this later. 4. Complete airframe rebuild: like the previous attempt, I plan on grinding the entire moulded airframe out and completely rebuilding it more accurately in Evergreen styrene. This is one area that #3 comes into play. This time, I'm doing both sides of the fuselage from nose to tail before any other construction/painting takes place. The floors and bulkheads will be temporarily assembled to be inserted into the fuselage halves to ensure the new airframe doesnt interfere with the rest of the interior. Once the new airframe is built and fit checked, I will start the detailing. 5. Newly found aftermarket: As with my last build, I have: -Big Ed set 1 -Eduard Landing gear and exterior sets (I didnt want the landing flaps or placards as I'm not extending the flaps and the placard set is redundant. Engine photo etch isnt needed) -Big Sin engine set -Brassin Wheels (these are currently out of stock everywhere I went. Will order when available) -Brassin superchargers -Brassin .50 cal machine gun set. Wanted to try these over the Aires (Aires guns on the last build). May still end up ordering the Aires guns depending on the Eduard detailing. However, knowing Eduard, this wont be necessary. New stuff: -Resin2detail pilot seats without belts. Only need one set as this time, the additional seats in the radio room will not be added per the 1/1 scale bird. -Master Details chin turret inserts, tail turret inserts, norden bomb sight, ammo belts, control yokes, oxygen system, parachute packs and the nose defroster. Decals: Little Miss Mischief and Kit World B-17G stencils I apologize now for the very wordy start to this build. I do not have any of the above mentioned items in hand yet but will before the new year according to my shipping invoices so photos will be flowing very, very soon. Cheers to all and have a very Merry Christmas! I plan on putting up photos before New Year but in case I cant, Happy New Year as well! My New Year resolution....FINISH THIS KIT 100%! Erik
  13. Still cant post pics yet but as the plane gets closer to finishing, I have decided to go with the aluminum foil treatment. Just got back from my local bank (hobby shop) and picked up a sacrificial pig for trying my hand at foiling. Its a 48 scale revell b-25 Mitchell. Not gonna go nuts on this one at all, this is for getting my technique down. I would rather butcher a 15 dollar model (got it off the bargain rack) then mess up on what has turned into a 900 dollar model. I have read many methods to use foil on this site and others and I think I have a good idea on how to proceed, but any input would be greatly appreciated. And thanks to all who have commented, I should have pics going soon again!
  14. Hello all, its been a while and not to go into much detail but this ast year has been a serious trial at life in general. A sudden loss of job, a very hasty move out of state to try to find work, a divorce, a foreclosure, financial hardships all over the place including our beloved IRS, a brush with death (literally) and so on. The B-17 should be complete but it is still only about 60% done. It was damaged in the sudden move last April but like the ground crews in the war, I managed to piece her back together with no indication of damage. Forward progress is slow as can be imagined, I as able to purchase all of Eduard's new brassin stuff before all this settled in. I don't have the means to post pictures just yet and all previous pictures are now lost as that device was destroyed. All 4 brassin engines are done, the bomb bay and radio compartments are very close to being done, the tail gunner compartment is complete, the wings are done minus some clean up work. As soon as I can post pictures again, I will do so. Douglas, my references come from much literature of wartime forts I have in my library. Also was able to get some materials from the Smithsonian NASM. Alot of googling as well. Good luck on your build, I have read posts on this forum that has made me wish I did some parts of my build completely different! Read em all as there are some serious builds of this kit going on here too!
