    I know… I was just kidding…
I didn’t mean to offend anyone, I just wanted to keep the newly lighted up little fire under the „team 1:32 vs. team 1:35“-pot alive…
I for myself gave up 1:48 when I realized it just didn’t feel „right“ and switched to 1:32. I sold almost my whole collection of 1:48 kits to build only 1:32 airplanes. So I am also definitely scale-focused to a certain extent . But as I am also a tank/soft skinned vehicle/diorama builder, I always disliked the 1:35 - 1:32 problem. So when the first 1:35 aircraft kits were released, I was very happy. I personally don’t mind at all building 1:32 and 1:35 planes side by side,  I like to enjoy the advantages of both worlds. But I can also completely understand those who just don’t want to do so and keep things just on the 1:32 side. I just can’t keep away from nettling a little bit…

Be careful, as you might get accussed of being a 'heretic' and burnt at the stake! I wholeheartedly agree with you regarding scale and more power to Border [or whoever wishes to compete with them...the more the merrier] with this fascinating project.

    Back again.
Shortly after posting the last update I filled the instrument recesses with Klear in preparation for applying the decals. The panel was held at the top in a wooden clothes peg. As I turned around to put it down somewhere safe there was a PING and the panel shot off somewhere ( I didn’t see where ) and despite an extensive search by myself and Mrs B it could not be found so I will have to use the kit panel. Situation normal, one step forward, two steps back.

At the moment an early D, the quinta studio set is on the way, but I might buy the late quinta studio set (because it comes with the joystick switches, which the early one doesn't have) and yes, as for the f18, be it the hornet or the superhornet, I like the two-seaters better, aesthetically it is more beautiful, nothing is missing or unnecessary, by the way, what notable difference is there between an early and a late? the computers? I ask from ignorance

    Iain,

Whilst equally 'bilingual' in measurement, weights and measures & temperatures [in my case, rather than building things I was 'legally' employed on occasions by the military to destroy/blow them up], I still prefer pre-February 1971 'old money' solutions [that saying might be lost on our colonial cousins]. Ergo I prefer imperial to metric, pounds to kilo's and definitely Fahrenheit to Celsius.

The use of 1:35 scale is to me a long overdue boon considering my armour and softskin collection far outweighs my LSP collection. Whether I will be around long enough to see how this develops in the dim and distant future, given that none of us are getting any younger, is mute but it will still be fun to watch.

    Mm, scale was more fun when Uncle Greg, my modelling mentor, explained scale thus;

The single number shows how many models should be viewed at one time and the bigger number shows how many inches from that model the viewer should be.

I used mum's tape measure from her sewing box. I never ever used a meter. Stopped doing it when I built the Airfix model of HMS Hood. Bedroom wasn't big enough.

It'll be ok , there's still time to reconsider. Their Kate looks good from what I've seen . Their FW-190 looks good too , I almost ALMOST got one but I wanted to save up for the Kate. It's more to my liking not that there's anything wrong with the FW. Just check out Quang's build . lookin' real good and he did a super job on it too! I'll pass on the Akagi deck scene, don't have enough room for that.

    Dear Mr Stambaugh,

Sir, it is beneath you to make such a fallacious and execrable comment. I can only assume that either that you have been unduly influenced by the 'zealots' or that you failed to take the correct dosage of med's prior to writing the comment. Either way, Sir, as both a noble and beloved member of the modelling community, it is beneath your elevated status to say such!

On a serious note, whilst it is not impossible that manufacturers may, in the future, produce the occasional 1/32 vehicle to support and complement LSP's, I don't envisage large numbers to be produced any time soon. Like it or not [unlike some, personally the question is utterly irrelevant insofar as I am concerned], 1/35 is the dominant scale for larger modelling items, regardless of subject matter. I don't see that going away or changing either anytime soon. I am pleased with what Border are doing, as it is not only another manufacturer entering the LSP genre, but it also provides further options and variations for us modellers to choose from. Especially if, once established, they latch onto and kit some of the aircraft that traditional 1/32 manufacturers have, to-date, declined to kit; the 'Kate' being a case in point.

    Dear Monthebiff,

Sorry to disappoint, but the only payroll I am on is the NHS one! I like modelling in large scale for both ground and aviation subjects [plus, lest I be accused of bias], as well as the occasional [but relatively rare] naval subject as well.

It's immaterial to me who produces the kit, as long as it's reasonably accurate and reasonably affordable. I just don't have a hang-up [as do some on this, and other, sites] about scale. It's each unto their own and enjoy modelling and enjoy the ride whilst you can.

Amen to that. As I have stated before, and will happily state again, more power to their elbow and may the releases continue. I am and have been eagerly awaiting the release of their 'Kate'. which should be a real joy based on what I have seen.

Hopefully, the elitists, naysayers and zealots can hold their water and just allow those of use who enjoy all large scales to revel in the pleasure of this and other similar future releases, whatever & whenever they may be. There is, after all, plenty of room at the trough, for all to take their fill, without decrying and denying others theirs.
