Tamiya F-16C Block 32 available again?
Southern Bandit replied to Marcel111's topic in LSP Discussion
If Tamiya produced a 2 seater F-16 I would forgive them if they never did anything else in 1/32 for ten years. -
Tamiya F-16C Block 32 available again?
Southern Bandit replied to Marcel111's topic in LSP Discussion
I dont see any on UK Ebay? I have the CJ (block 50) but wish I'd bought the Thunderbirds kit when it was available. The ones I see are all coming from Japan and dont look second hand (one from Hong Kong) so maybe it is some sort of limited Tamiya re-release? -
Unnecessary fuselage access panel on Revell 1/32 Fw 190?
Southern Bandit replied to VintageEagle's topic in LSP Discussion
OK got it. FW 190 S-8, had honestly not seen this before. Looks bizzare, the FW-190's were mean looking birds, way to ruin that reputation -
Unnecessary fuselage access panel on Revell 1/32 Fw 190?
Southern Bandit replied to VintageEagle's topic in LSP Discussion
Cant comment on the access panel, but in first excellent pic, somebody needs to fully close the canopy, also in second pic, have never seen an FW-190 like that, what sort of canopy and after to tail fairing is that? is it a dual seater? It looks real but unreal too! Would love to see a bigger wider picture of this aircraft. -
I bet it will need a lot of nose weight!

Is there a site giving 2nd hand value for kits?
Southern Bandit replied to Southern Bandit's topic in General Discussion
Thanks Daniel, but that gets us back to square one, what is the value of a kit and what is the reserve price if I have no idea of its value? Perhaps the only way to gauge things is to put kits on Ebay and see what they go for? Ebay is ever changing, our scale model kit market is ever changing. No turning back for me, my first batch of stash thinning kits are on Ebay, lets see what happens, No matter my online persona on forums, I'm an honest person and with 100% good feedback from 2005 Ebay in real life. -
I think you are right Mark, my eyesight is not so good these days, fortunately I have an eyesight test booked for early next month as my two yearly test and I'll now need glasses for general use rather than just reading books use ETC I needed last time ... and that was with me on a 4K monitor too ... I still wonder what the numbers mean though?

HpH Wyvern breaks through the clouds...
Southern Bandit replied to Kagemusha's topic in LSP Discussion
Vacform kit? If so its beyond my skill level, pity if it is because I would love a 1/32 Wyvern, really enjoyed the Trumpeter 1/48 kit. -
And I wonder what the 4309 on the two adjacent panels signify's? There is a reason for every thing ... bet the Tamiya kit does not have that stencil. heh
-
Good picture, yup that panel must have come from another aircraft I guess, that's the kind of detail us modellers would never think of doing. Also it just goes to show the different shades or types of aluminium or whatever skin cover it is, some seem more shiny than others ... going from mirror like to dull shades, bet no two aircraft were the same?

Here is one of my auctions, the others can be found from my Ebay user name, let me know if I should revise anything please. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183434158809?ul_noapp=true -

Is there a site giving 2nd hand value for kits?
Southern Bandit replied to Southern Bandit's topic in General Discussion
Thanks .. will do, gives me a bit of time to go through the stash and consider if I really do want to part with some, have sold before and ended up buying same kit again in the future ... I think we've all done that -

Streamlining time again, going to be putting some kits up FS on Ebay this afternoon, perhaps the best way to gauge their value is to watch other example already on sale there? I did for one I have going, its a WnW OOP Hannover C1.II, cant remember what I paid for it? but one went the other day for £255! Was just wondering if there was another way to get an estimate on their value? mine are all mint still in bags un-started ETC, as new really. -
Tamiya's release schedule next 5 years (suggestion)
Southern Bandit replied to timvkampen's topic in LSP Discussion
Tamiya in recent years made a return to new tool (excellent) 1/6 Motorcycles, prior to those they had not touched 1/6 scale Bikes for at least 25 years, just re-pops of the older kits, its quite possible we might not see a new tool 1/32 aircraft kit from Tamiya for some time now, there have been long gaps of time in the series before, horrible thought I know and I hope I am wrong. Perhaps the 1/32 aircraft kits have not been selling as well as we 1/32 enthusiasts think they might have. Tamiya wont be say that's for sure. I still would not be surprised if the next one ... whenever that might be is a 109 or 190 (perhaps 262) but would prefer a P-38 or a P-47 Razorback of course, but whatever it is I'll buy it. Really would not be disappointed in a 109 or 190 of any type though and I don't think that many here would be either once the initially, "why another??" type comments subsided, because with Tamiya 1/32 aircraft kits its not necessarily about the type, but the joy of building a state of the art new Tamiya 1/32 kit that nearly always has new tech to make it one step nearer to as near perfect kit engineering can go. -
Its more an Action Man/GI Joe scale accessory thing though? Right? I dont think this kit is really intended for our LSP audience, apart from being a side track fun build for some? Please dont get me wrong, really do love Harriers with my late old RAF Dad having served with them in the Cold war in Germany. It will take a brave modeller to take this toy and scratch build most parts of it into something special at 1/18 scale. The larger the scale the more scrutiny and indeed more exacting scratch building will be needed. Not for me ... My Trumpeter 1/32 GR-7 Harrier has enough detail problems to fix.

Very sleek and sharp, makes the F-104 Starfighter look rather overweight from this angle

Brass undercarriage for Revell Typhoon, & ICM Polikarpovs
Southern Bandit replied to Kagemusha's topic in LSP Discussion
Gonna have to get these Typhoon undercarriage parts, have some already AM ones, but heard they buckle with the weight of the kit ... its a large model when built up, a large Aircraft in real life too for a single/dual seater multi role Aircraft compared to the Hawk n suchlike. -
Are the Hasegawa P40 kits really ill fitting?
Southern Bandit replied to Southern Bandit's topic in LSP Discussion
Actually, I take my hat off to Thierry , took my old Hasegawa P-40 out for another look just now at tail section, there is a slight ill fit discrepancy for the tail plug in parts. Its slight, but hand on heart, my old eyes never noticed it in my build and dammit, would not have noticed if it were not pointed out and now iI see it, its there arghhh I still think its a great kit though Fair play Thierry , you were right ! -
I'm not doubting you Thierry, you are obviously having some serious fit issues with the kits fit in the tail section, can you illustrate with a pic or two what the issue you are having is please? All I'm saying is, hand on heart, my Hasegawa 1/32 P-40 went together like a dream compared to my many other kits I've built, have looked at mine again and I know I never used filler or did much sanding and for me, re-scribing is something I rarely do.

Are the Hasegawa P40 kits really ill fitting?
Southern Bandit replied to Southern Bandit's topic in LSP Discussion
It was a long time ago I built mine, but would have done research first in the aft fuselage tail fit, its common practice in kit manufacturing to do this to make future versions available I guess. I honestly encountered no problems whatsoever in my build, the tail issue too, it seems. -
My P-40 has no such problems.
-
Lets talk Hasegawa 1/32 P40 kits for a bit, one regular guy here insists they are bad fitting kits with ill fitting panel lines etc, with different tail plugs for different versions ETC making it difficult. (first I'd heard of that) Mine went together with what I can only describe as one of the best easy nice fitting Kits in my life, especially in the important wing fuselage area, the fuselage panel lines ... and I've poured all over my finished one, panels do seem to match up where they should. I really am a mediocre modeller compared to most of you, but I just never saw these glaring errors in my kit build? Nobody wants a snap tite kit, but my word, have any of us tried to build a Pacific Coast Hurricane? I have and though almost complete its near throwing in the bin down to final canopy fit ... argh <---- 2 year protect as well. Haswgawa P40's ... lovely kit, would build them any day of the week.

Mini-review Eduard Look 634002 F4U-1A Panel
Southern Bandit replied to 1to1scale's topic in LSP Discussion
They look good though, wonder how much? I should try one at least, perhaps one for the Tamiya Mustang. Still not tried any Yahu panels. Like 1to1 says, biggest advantage would be time saving, especially for a new aircraft clean look, not sure about the seat belts though.
