I wonder how many unbuilt kits in my closet were veteran unbuilt kits in other closets? How many other closets? What is each kit's accumulated closet time?

Maybe we could apply a discreet mark, sticker or notch to kit box lids to indicate each kit's closet years and probable transit air miles - disregarding points of origin in Ukraine, New Zealand, China, Japan or those remote mountain fastnesses of southern England, of course.

A Furthest Flown Unmade Kit competition is not in contemplation today. That would be silly.

Fabulous acolades Pete, and all, including mine, are all well deserved. If you enter this model in the Nats and the Model Engineers Contests you WILL win, and so you should. Your skills have ( and continue to do so)  shown us lesser mortals how replica's should be made. We all thank you for showing us in detail how to achieve such results.
As the model sits right now ( well, as I write this, lol, it may have progressed by now) I feel that the finish you have achieved is superb. To paint it might be, ... well, I don't know, not detrimental, far from, but.......lesser. .... Maybe a diorama with the 'plane in the paint shop about to be painted.
    But then your paint/artist skills.......
Sorry for the ramble, it just looks so suberb in NMF.
    Regards,  Pete in RI

    This. 100%.
Contrary to what it seems some think, we are not out here arbitrarily locking threads because we don't agree with, or don't like  what's been talked about; that is not what we nor LSP is about.
Civil discussions are not just allowed, but encouraged.
As Ron said, it's when members start trading jabs, insults and telling others how to view the forums, that's when threads get shut down.
If you feel the need to go to a different forum, by all means, we have no issues with that what-so-ever. We are all adults here and free to come and go as we please.

I think your getting ahead of yourselves.  I can assure you there has been zero discussion with the mods about locking this thread.  Brian sums up why the other one was locked pretty well.

A thread about what could have been from a company that went out of business sometime ago is getting old, but what ever. When it turns into personal punches around "if you don't like it don't look" is where we shut it down as after over ten years being a mod here it's inevitably doing to spiral south.  It's completely pointless and a bad vibe.

Yes it was me who recommended we do so but I have been very busy at work and could not address any fallout when doing so, which happens just about every time us mods lock something. Those complaints need to be addressed but it takes time to do so and part of the job of being a mod. We all agreed, so Ray took the liberty of doing so.

I was joking . IN another thread someone was getting very upset that some of us like these ‘obscure’ aircraft. The Caudron G series were indeed very well known at the time and are still one of the well known aircraft of WWI.  I am genuinely pleased at Copper State Models approach to bringing kits of significant French WWI era aircraft to the market. I hope they do well with them.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

I've built two. Ditto on no paint on the bulk heads to fuse joints or the fuse won't seal up. I also had minor problems with the lower wings assembling with some anhedral that split the lower fuse halve joint when mounting the upper wing.

Totally agree, Andreas' post is very helpful and informative. I especially appreciate the shot of the Albatros B11 struts bending. A good 'heads up" for later.

I haven’t build a Lukgraph kit yet, but some WNW, Roden, Special Hobby injection molded WW1 kits and also some resin WW1 kits. When it comes to struts my experience is, that they‘re always weak if the original struts were made of metal and are therefore of a way smaller diameter than wooden struts (wooden struts as injection molded parts are no problem.) It doesn’t matter if these metal struts are made of injection molded, resin or 3D printed resin kit parts. I like to replace all these struts of all biplane kits with brass rod. It’s not that difficult: Just cut a brass pipe of the exact length like your strut with as scalpel blade, insert a smaller and a little longer piece of steel wire as a core and flatten the whole thing with a pin vice (Albion Alloys once offered a tool called „the strutter“ for that purpose, but its long o. o. p. now). You might have to smoothen the edges with a file.

That’s how they look like (brass struts for a Roden Albatros D. I)

Here is an example of the finished thing. It’s the WNW DFW C. V, the original machine had metal struts. It is highly recommended to replace them with brass to add strength.

Also these struts are made of brass pipe with a steel wire core.

Wooden struts are no problem in general, because they’re thicker. But it can be sometimes fun to replace them with real wood.

And that’s my WNW Albatros B. II. Here I used the kit parts and did NOT replace them with brass pipe:

What I wanted to say is: Most struts on any biplane kit are wobbly when not replaced by e. g. brass struts. It doesn’t matter if they are made of resin, 3D-printed resin or injection molded plastic. It’s not difficult at all to replace them with stronger material. It shouldn’t take you away to buy a Lukgraph kit. I do not intend to use a single of these struts in my Lukgraph kits, besides of using them as templates to make my own.
I hope that helps a little.
