Hi folks! It's been a while since I last updated. Finally got a few hours at the bench. Even though it won't really be seen, I decided to take a shot at scratching out the avionics bay (where the birdcage goes up into). I decided to just do basic structure and no details as this was just for my own education and practice. I plan on black basing my Intruder for that reason! I feel it will bring out the tonal differences in the grays.

This is one of the reasons I joined LSP. These kind of discussions are great and are food for thought. It all boils down to the personal liking of the individual creating their masterpiece. I've spent my entire adult life working on and being around aircraft. Some are immaculate. Some could use a wash. Some need to head to Depot and be stripped and redressed. But as general rule, if it's flying, it's dirty. Scuff marks from boots (unless it's a demo bird and boot covers are used), power cords dragged across drop tanks, pooling fluids that find their way to the fresh air, etc. Dirt and grime has a way of doing it's own thing. How you depict it is your deal!

Very minor update: I've been tackling the MLG wheel wells, wings, and slats/flaps. Wanting to do my own details, I started by eradicating (I just love saying it that way!) the kit's details, sanded semi smooth and laid down a coat of Mr Surfacer 500 and sanded smooth. Before and after: Untitled by Chris Coggon, on Flickr Started the process: Untitled by Chris Coggon, on Flickr And just some blending on the flap track joints: Untitled by Chris Coggon, on Flickr Untitled by Chris Coggon, on Flickr

A few weekends ago got a nice boost in the LSP department (which prompted me to join). It was a good stash-expansion couple of days. First up were these 4: 1/32 Academy F-16 CG/CJ Untitled by Chris Coggon, on Flickr 1/32 Academy F/A-18C "Chippy Ho" (to go along with my VFA-192 Golden Dragon) Untitled by Chris Coggon, on Flickr 1/32 Tamiya F-14A Black Knights Untitled by Chris Coggon, on Flickr 1/144 Revell Space Shuttle Discovery (with EFT and Boosters) Untitled by Chris Coggon, on Flickr Here's the kicker: I got them for $25 each! Then the next day, I went to a local Goodwill with the wife and found these for $3 each: Untitled by Chris Coggon, on Flickr Also picked up a 1/32 Hasegawa P-51D, Quickboost seats for the Tomcat and Hornet, and CMK seat for the Falcon.
