  1. I am quiet but I follow every update. Don't give up. Just for the record I think you are nuts! I can't imagine how you build such small and intricate detail and then paint it to look so real. Great work. Chris
  2. Thanks for the pictures Martin; jig is the way to go . now it makes sense. i don't use jigs at all but your way makes a lot of sense. Anyway, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you Martin. Regards, CHris
  3. Great work as usual, Martin. How the heck did you install the four struts, to get the right angles, on all three axis and the length ? i usually have problems installing those on a plastic kit, can't even imagine scratchbuilding. just wonderring. chris
  4. Great work Martin . As always, you don't fail to deliver. - i'm not closing the window with this thread and i refresh it every day to see if you have any updates. and it is worth it. You are an inspiration. Regards, Chris
  5. Wow. I see what you mean Martin. That's what i was afraid of : lots of sanding... last time i took some skin off my fingers - hence, my horror. But you did great. Congratulations. Chris
  6. I see you left the leading and trailing edges a little bigger than the ribs, that is for sanding I assume. When I did that I sanded the ribs more than I should have. Maybe it's my sanding technique. Did you also made the ribs bigger? What sanding paper grit do you use for balsa? Awesome work as always. ( i am also watching this thread on the other forum you post, i don't want to mix up the replies ) Chris
  7. Wow Martin, I'm sure glad you didn't stop posting along the way, as I just went over your whole build and, pardon the expression, but it's freakin' awsome. I don't know why you keep apologizing for the many pictures, slow build and the technicality of it; I, for one, am expecting exactly that and that is why I keep coming back to LSP, just for this type of deep building knowledge. More and more builders today, just post the old kit building thread with the usual plastic halves not fitting right; but you my friend, are a visionary, you take model building to the next three or four levels. I am glad I saw your post. Now I have a question, how would you go about building this particular airplane (S.E.5.a) in 1:72 scale? It's a smaller scale and most of the detail kinda' goes to just painting it. I am asking because for a year now I am trying to build a prop plane, a Romanian IAR 27, scratch build it that is, and I tried balsa but it's too crumbly, sort of way, it doesn't keep angles very good. I tried plasticard, but it's not too sturdy, and I don't want to drench it in glue either. I am stuck right now, I didn't give up, just looking for new ideas. As I build exclusevly in 1/72 I post the build on another forum - http://bit.ly/rTgsKn. It's not much but that is all I have and also i have wings build and some other stuff only I didn't update the post in over a year. Been babling over here for quite some time now and I don't want to keep you from building but I would appreciate some wisdom over my meager problem. Keep the pictures coming, Chris
  8. WOW. How come i haven't seen this post before/???? Amazing job Oliver. you're a pioneer , just like your namesake. excellent job . regards, chris
  9. wow. i love the detail . you are a very patient man my friend. good job. chris
  10. Oh my Lord. I wouldn't dare brave the make-up department at any store. I feel more comfortable at Home Depot , they have some files and mini tools that work great too. I also found a lot of useful stuff at the Dollar stores, and cheap too. Chris
  11. Excellent! Jeff Herne's tutorial is the one i was talking about. Now i can view those threads and i can take a look at Jay's postings. Thanks Keith . Chris
  12. I am very unhappy with the pictures that i take of my models - not that are too many. I see in magazines and on internet photo booths with all kinds of accessories going upwards of 100 and even 200 dollars. That's way more than I can muster right now. I want to start a thread where I want to gather all the information on photographing models and the best way to do it, from lighting to background, mounts and cameras. I will also try to build my own booth with materials readily available because from what i see in the commercials for the expensive booths the materials alone do not add up to the full advertised value of the booth. This is just something that i am frustrated about and just thought about it and came up with this resolution. This forum is full of wise and experienced modelers and any help or advise would be most welcome. By the way, what is the cut off date for the threads on this forum? I saw a thread somewhere here about working with vac and is here no more. How can i access older threads? Just a question for the officials. Regards, Chris
  13. WOW. Nice paint job and weathering Spencer. Stunning work. keep those pics coming , Chris
  14. Alright!! . Thanks for the tip Matt. I screwed around with epoxy and made a mess with the resin but never occured to me to use CA . Oh man. dries fast , compared to the epoxy - and CLEAN - i don 't have to use the accelerator .. yet! Gotta get used to the "speed" . Thanks a bunch. saved me a lot of sorrow. The Mustang looks excellent . it's always been in my "to do next " project . maybe now i'll start. Keep it uP . People depend on YOu! Regards, Chris
  15. Great looking bird Matt. What are you using for glue? i am having some trouble with gluing resin. Chris
