It does doesn't it, but as nice as that is, I'm sticking to my original plan. Can't get side tracked. I get side track way to often

hey Boris Thanks mate. I know its been a few weeks since I updated this after the weird paint incident and the subsequent 2 week wait for more to arrive. However, In that time, I stripped it right back to bare plastic (for the 4th time) and it is now currently red again and will be getting a protective layer of clear sprayed on this weekend. Thanks for looking in

anyone seen or heard from Diego Quijano lately?
The Madhatter replied to The Madhatter's topic in General Discussion
hey Kev Sorry mate, I don't think he's a member here (more is the pity) -

With some reluctance, I'll add in Britmodeller as a place to go for armor. There is one bloke in particular there who is extremely good at armor (and sci-fi and anything he touches really) and is always willing to share his knowledge - Andy Moore. I'm not sure if he's still there TBH but if he is, he is one guy who I really paid attention too.

I can't tell you how many times I have made the same mistake and only truly learnt on the 4th or 5th time of doing it. We all have our homer moments some more than others

The Madhatter replied to The Madhatter's topic in General Discussion
yeah I saw that too, so I knew he was alive, but he hasn't posted any work since 2018, so I was wondering if it was health related or if he was taking an extended sabbatical? For the most part, his FB page looks like a running advertisement for Mig Ammo, but his actual website/blog hasn't been updated since 2018 either. -

As the title suggests, I was wondering if anyone has heard from or about the great Spanish modeller Diego Quijano (http://dqscaleworks.blogspot.com/) I haven't seen anything from him in a long time and I am wondering if he's OK and still building? He is a very talented builder and painter and I miss his work.

Best books on large scale model ship building?
The Madhatter replied to Zola25's topic in Miscellaneous Modelling Q&A
Google found these: Ship Modeling from Stem to Stern Milton Roth. Ship Models: How to Build Them (Dover Woodworking) Ship Modeling Simplified: Tips and Techniques for Model Construction from Kits Frank Mastini. Historic Ship Models Wolfram Zu Mondfeld. How to Build Plastic Ship Models Lester Wilkins, Burr Angle. However, it seems, that most, if not all of them, are relating to building wooden ships rather than plastic ones (with the exception of the last one) At the end of the day, there isn't really any significant difference in building a plane, train, car or ship. They all go together in the method. Glue and patience. PE is a PITA to work with but it looks good and more in scale. If its more to do with weathering, then check out that site I gave before. It really is a useful site for ship builders. But if your firm on the source being printed, then this maybe of use: https://www.hobbiesaustralia.com.au/vallejo-book-scapa-flow-painting-and-weathering-te I'll add this link too which maybe of use to you: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/21-painting-finishing-and-weathering-products-and-techniques/ -
try here Mike; https://www.tedsmodelingmarketplace.com/1-16-scale-1/ there maybe something there you could use

Ah ok. I don't know of any publications on ship building, but you should definitely check out this site for any hints and tips specific to ship kits of all kinds http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/index.php There is a raft if info in that site, especially in the calling all ship fans if you're looking for a specific ship. -
Best books on large scale model ship building?
The Madhatter replied to Zola25's topic in Miscellaneous Modelling Q&A
It depends on the ships themselves as to what books to recommend. For example, the Scharnhorst has a couple of really good pictoral books that would be useful like "Scharnhorst - Anatomy of a Ship" by Stefan Daminski Same for Bismarck and Yamato -
cool topic! Soo many to choose from. Where do you even start?? I'd like to fly an An-225 because I like the idea of taking off and landing the largest aircraft ever to grace the skies Then maybe the Boeing 314 Clipper because she was drop dead gorgeous Lastly...hmmm... Concorde - just because she was the most elegant of all passenger aircraft Yeah, that'll do for me I reckon
