  1. I built this kit 6 months back. My kit was a much older boxing looks as if they have cleaned up the molds. It was definitely not a drop together kit but was still a fun build. I purchased some other WB kits to make a shelf of golden age racers.
  2. Just placed my order sir. Can't wait to put this in front of an F86 in my case. The irony of something so fast waiting to take to the sky stuck behind something so slow.
  3. I believe there is about 23¢ in pennies holding my bell x-1 down. Told my wife when I did it that is was less cost then a sinker. Plus I did not have to drive to the store to get one.
  4. This will be great to have. When can we expect to see it available.
  5. I can finally stop chasing that hasegawa kit on ebay. I hate redoing panel lines so this is great news for me.
  6. I just finished a build of the trumpeter bearcat and jumped into a hasegawa F16a and was feeling the modeling funk like this is going to be a long build like the last one. Thats when I went to put the kit in the stash and maybe find a small armor kit to work on despite my more recent interest in aircraft. That's when I saw it peeking from the top of the pile a Gee Bee R1. Well 4 hours split over 3 day and I have a complete engine and interior and the fuselage halves are clamped together. This little kit has been refreshing and easy despite its age. So if you get the chance u should pick up one of the many 1930s race kits and have some fun. They are still in business and sell models on their site and even decal sheets for the old kits.
  7. If that is solid resin it would be useful in case of a burglary. You could easily bludgeon someone to death with that.
  8. I read an article that the USMC got approval for weapons systems for defense use not offensive use. But u gives some Devil Dogs a few new toys and some s@#$ is going to get blown up and it is not going to be in defense only. Here is an article talking about arming them. http://www.scout.com/military/warrior/story/1678180-most-read-2016-marines-to-arm-osprey
  9. Well I will definitely be holding out for a plastic kit. That vac form would give me nightmares.
  10. Like I said I see them on a daily basis. I live in Richlands NC which is northeast of Jacksonville NC. I drive buy MCAS New River almost everyday on my way to work. The public Airport is just down the road from me and thru an agreement with the county they do touch and go's when there is not commercial traffic. I believe they use the public Airport due to its rural location as Jacksonville has grown up near the airbase. They operate at lower altitudes in my area then they do over Jacksonville. So it is not abnormal for the house to shake from the Ospreys or the 53s. I did not care for them at first but seeing them operate daily I have seen them operate in all modes. I can see the advantage they can provide coming in at speed as an airplane and hovering and rescuing like a chopper. I was also on my way home late Dec 12th 2000 coming down Ramsey rd which is a shortcut across the top half of the county. I was suddenly greeted by a Military road block which is unusual to see on a civilian road. The next day I learned that sadly that an Osprey had gone down killing all 4 on board. So I have a personnel connection with the Osprey as I have been here the whole time it has come into its own in the USMC.
  11. Well we are going to need you to start your vac form so a plastic one can come out.
  12. Well some people love the Osprey and some hate it. I will say there were a lot of issues when they first rolled them out in the USMC to include several high profile accidents. The investigation for the crash in Jacksonville NC uncovered a massive issue with the falsifying of service and maintence logs. This bird is very reliant on being cared for and maintained unlike some of the previous rotor craft in the USMC. Now that the maintence is being done properly and other bugs have been worked out they are being used in service with success. The Air Force has operated it with little issues and several other countries have lined up to buy when it is approved to be marketed internationally. In fact UAE threatened to pull out of joint allied operations in the Middle east unless Ospreys were made available for pilot rescue and recovery. Like I said in the post I see them everyday and they are impressive to say the least.
  13. Well that would be a good question as most airplanes are in 1/32 and most choppers are in 1/35. But the Osprey is a hybrd so I am good with either scale.
  14. I feel like we really need a Osprey model in 1/35. Who else feels that way maybe we can get a thread going long enough that a manufacture will notice. I have a 1/32 harrier and AH-1w but really need an Osprey to round out my USMC shelf. To make matters worse where I live I see them everyday flying and doing touch and go runs at the local airport near my house. So I challenge you Kittyhawk, Trumpeter ,Academy and Italeri its time to man up and make this happen. But make it accurate or we will eat you alive on this Board.
  15. What kind of issues have been seen with the cockpit is it mostly just bubbles and such or like parts broken off during mold removal. The only gear I have seen is the SAC ones I was looking for strength as a build on the Hasegawa I read said that after he added weight to his the kit gear needed reinforcement. What are the issues with the SAC gears. I will look for an exhaust. I was looking at eduard Brassen sidewinders. But if anyone knows of other options by all means. I am an armor guy who has gotten hooked on 1/32 aircraft so my knowledge of what is out there is limited.
