  1. I have three of these in the stash (various marks), the plastic looks great in the box, and I've seen several made up examples at shows that really look the part. I'm no fan of exposed engines etc., I prefer the all zipped up and ready to rock 'n' roll look. As I'm no 109 expert, what's the problem with Eduard's 1:32 109Es?
  2. My very thoughts. After rummaging through the stash to locate my Revell Typhoon with all it's various AM bits, I thought this would be a good candidate for a Kotare release. Maybe not thier next release, but certainly worth future consideration.
  3. Having read a large number of threads around this type of thing in recent months, Griffin powered Spitfires/Seafires seem to have a tremendous global appeal, probably because they are great looking airframes. An obvious hole in the modern 'cool' kit inventory A likely candidate I feel.
  4. Not really my cup of tea, but I wish Kotare every success with this one. I have a couple of Hasegawas in the stash and, for some reason, four Eduard E's. Not a massive fan of the black cross stuff, so excruciating accuracy of the type isn't a deal clincher for me. Looking forward to their next offerings. Let the speculation commence!
  5. Can't thank you enough for posting this. I feel so much more at ease with myself now!
  6. Just soooooh true! This also greatly peaked my interest - for a fleeting moment - then got a grip with reality! This is meant to be a safe hobby, but it constantly presents danger to one's financial and marital stability.
  7. Yeh, the Boss (SWMBO) is drawing up a plan for my domestic responsibilities post retirement - she's younger than me, and isn't finishing work for a bit. They currently appear to be on a near industrial scale - so I need to negotiate down this expectation to accommodate extensive modelling time! What's my chances? PS. Any Spitfire kitset will make me happy and put my hand in my pocket.
  8. 'Transfers'. That's what I like - proper terminology. Decals - is that a French thing? Mine will be a black and white bottom job. Well, that's the current thinking.
  9. I still have the glossy brochure from when I was taken by mum and dad to the premiere in Bristol, it's one of my most treasured possessions and memories. The Hurricanes at the start are something else. "You know what to do with the lame ducks"! Superb!
  10. Well, made me laugh out loud - getting me some questioning looks in the pub.
  11. C'mon, where's the Fairey Albacore and Barracuda in this list? Really!
  12. "You can teach monkeys to fly better than that"! Taka Taka Taka Taka Taka!
  13. I get that, but we are a niche bunch. The Revell is a pretty decent kit, and I think the wider modelling market's preference would likely be for a £40 Hurricane. Just my musings down the local (which my dog dragged me into), I trust the folk at Kotare to make the right choices. Cheers Rob
  14. I know mate, though ominously, Revell are off down the Hurricane route.
  15. Actually, anything Fleet Air Arm would float my boat.
  16. Whatever it is, it will be terrific. Personally, I hope it isn't the Hurricane route... ...I have in the stash 7 Fly kits (various marks), a rag wing PCM, a Revell IIb, and an Airfix 1:24. Yeh, I like Hurricanes! The Spitfires are in hand, a P-51B would do it for me.
  17. This is what I made of the old Hasegawa kit many moons ago as my first serious dabble in the hobby since I was spotty teenager. Sorry in advance for the waffling text, but the main ideas are there. I had checked out the Hellcat in the Yeovilton museum and noticed the wings were very smooth yet the fuselage was as knobbly as a toad, so I left the raised rivet detail on the kit's fuselage and filled the trenches on the wings with super glue and rescribed. Vacform canopy was from Squadron, True Details cockpit may be hard to find these days, though CMK do one I believe. I still have my Hasegawa Hellcats, and they look infinitely better than the Trumpy thing. https://www.hyperscale.com/2012/galleries/hellcatfaa32rt_1_1.htm
  18. Just to clarify, when I wrote about the 'superchargers in the gear bay', I meant intercoolers - I was having a moment.
  19. Have a look at this: https://www.hyperscale.com/2013/features/fm132rt_1.htm
  20. I've never had a problem with them, reacted well to Microsol/set solution. Haven't used them for a few years, so no idea if the quality has changed recently. Model Design Construction do Typhoon marking, two sheets, one for national insignia, and the other for codes and serial numbers. The codes and serials are specific to the bubble top variant. These are of excellent quality, I've used the national markings on several projects where roundel size is appropriate.
  21. Just pre ordered at Jadlam, £84.95 with free shipping. Expected October/November.
