  1. and yes, you are right. Blue ones are M's and the ones I meant are they are probably bluegray (RAF Ocean gray???) + green.
  2. Thank you from your feedback Juggernaut, based on the Aces of the Mighty Eight (Scutts, Stanaway, Ospray, 2002) page 115 42-26641 is said to be D-25 Dec 1944 and on page 117 42-28383 is said to be D-26, June 1944. rgds yrjo
  3. Hi, Ii was thinking of using this same message thread: I am looking for (1/32) Hairless Joe 42-26641 Col David Schilling or Ole **** III 26-28382 Capt Donovan Smith. Would like to make blue Jug. Thank you for your help in advance.
  4. Thanks, I found your pictures from the doors. Very clever way to modify them. Any measurements how much wider you made the doors? The one thing I am missinig. Did you modify also the front part of the doors? I have understood that the make the larger starts already from the front of the doors. cheers Yrjo ps. I sent a message to scratchbuilder
  5. Brilliant buld, my target is JB139 Dark Victor so I need to make the same changes.
  6. I am planning to build JB139 and based on SAMs The Avro Lancaster Modellers Data File, it should be one of the 550 batch Mk IIIs ordered from A.V. Roe Chadderton late 1941 (JA672-JB748). How could I find more detailed information from when it was actually build?
  7. Excelent work! Just comming back to my lanc project after 6 months break. Where did you get the bulged bomb bay doors? I would need those to my project.
  8. Thanx, a bit rusty with the links etc. Been away from this site some time as after B-17G, I just could not make any planes for a while.
  9. Hi, back in business after the HKM B-17G. Recently I have been mainly making 1:35 armour but this lanc is now on my desk:
  10. Hi Joel, not well in Stockholm but my mistake propably was the I made a base for this kit and it was not good. I just could not resist. Also as there are removeable wings, the fuselage/wing joint is not perfect. I Hi Joel, not well in Stockholm but I do not mind. The three days trip with three other modelers to Stockholm was the main thing - with a lot of beer and fun :0) We call these A-Class trips ;0))
  11. Hi Chris, thank you from your kind words :0)! It was indeed a challenge to weather this size of kit and to avoid over do it. I have read a some books about B-17 and the " Masters of the Air " by Donald L. Miller and visited several museums. Knowing the amount of variants there has been from B-17G and how much those planes could have been repaired and modified in the field, I just decided, that the two main visible corrections this kit needed were the Tokyo tank air intakes in the wing tips and antennas. Other improvements were more nice to have and just for fun. There are still inaccuracies, of course, but you just have to draw the line somewhere to get the job done. And when I make WW2 models, I want to respect those (like my grandfather), who fought in the war, which ever side they were.
  12. Hi I have finally got decent photos from my B-17G :0) Also I have also put the video to Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvOd_2Hwh9Y

  21. Engines ----------- One subject before the pics from final model. I started to build engines (summer 2013) before Eduard come with their engines. I planned not to open the cowlings. In my pov, HK engine parts can be used as a base for adequate engines. The main visible part missing is prop governors. I contacted AMS Resin if they would be interested to make prop governors for B-17G. I knew that they have done them before to other planes in this scale. They got interested and I promised to be their "guinea-pig". Third version was ok and I used them in my engines. The AMS Resin part is 32097 and they are very affordable. 1 Basic wiring: I had several pictures from engines from different museums and decided to put only wiring that is really visible. Even in this scale with prop you do not see that much from the engine. But without the prop governor, the engine does not look right. 2: AMS Resin 32097 needed two wires. For the chain to the wheel I used fishing line. 3. Engine is ready. With some wires, prop govs, paint and weathering the engines can be made to look pretty realistic.
